After the Korean War ended, he continued his theater life under the stage name Lim Mi Young. When theater went on the decline in the late 1950s, he switched to film acting, and made his debut in the 1957 movie "Palace of Wind and Clouds".
Im has also worked as a martial arts choreographer. Due to his martial arts skills, he appeared in the 1970 Korean-HongKong co-production films "Dragon Tiger Wind Cloud" and "Jungwon First Sword". Horseback riding and swordsmanship were his specialties.
In 1994, Im won the 32nd Grand Bell Award.
