In 1927, he joined the Nikkatsu Daishogun Studio under the stage name Murakami Eiji ((村上英二), occasionally working under his real name. In 1933, he transferred to Nikkatsu Tamagawa Studio's modern drama division and changed his stage name to Hikari Hajime (光一). In 1937, he moved to Toho and remained active until the late stages of World War II.
After the war, he joined Shintoho and adopted the stage name Yamamuro Ko, often appearing in supporting roles. Later, as a freelancer, he worked with Toho and Toei. His last known appearance was in the 1956 film "Kino? Sabaku? Nyonin Mandara," after which his whereabouts and date of death remain unknown.
