He made his debut in 1989 as part of the 19th open recruitment for talent at MBC with a role in the drama "Country Diary" (전원일기). He gained popularity in the late 1990s when he appeared in several SBS sitcoms such as "LA Arirang" and "Soonpong Clinic" but he could not escape being cast in a comic character and struggled to obtain more serious roles. He went into a long hiatus and returned to work in 2012 with a role in "Hometown Over the Hill 2" (산 너머 남촌에는 2) but has not worked in a drama ever since.
