And the emperor being alive wasn't required for verifying it. They verified it being genuine easily when FL presented it.

Btw, they didn't deign to explain how the consort forged a fake edict to give to the marquis. It's capital punishment to forge these, probably hard to find the means and people to do it.

Yea, poor ML already wasn't feeling well after working on that calendar non-stop for weeks to save FL's ass again, only for her to finish him off in that big spat because she was angry at him for stopping her. No wonder he got sick.
But it was funny to see how she was trying to convince herself she's through with him later. Girl, it would have been more convincing if you didn't order those heat braziers to be set up where he walked, or sending him expensive medicine and a new compass through other people 😂.
And that tiny copy of herself showing up to make her realize how wrong she was was just in time.

Can somebody help me extrapolate the circular logic of the missing edict?
Things said about it:
1. ML's brother and his army got captured at the capital and tried for treason, because he had no edict commanding him to return.
2. He couldn't present the edict because his case was investigated by corrupt marquis who could have destroyed it.

Question: Why didn't he have the edict on him when he just arrived at the gates? Why couldn't he have shown it right there officially before witnesses? He had an army with him, nobody could have forced it out of his hands quietly.
Nobody was investigating him yet, but he already didn't have the edict. He didn't have the edict, so he was investigated.

The villains here are def not the brightest tools in the shed, which is very unfortunate. It's one of the most disappointing things in this drama, imho.
The best marquis villain with two sons I've seen so far was in Legend of Zang Hai - proper complex, compelling villain.

Express will be out at the end of the week with the last couple of episodes.

Btw, it's not hair suddenly becoming white, it's pigmented hair falling off, leaving only unpigmented behind. Those people already had white hair. Also, it's not exactly overnight, but can happen in just 2 weeks or so.

She def couldn't at the beginning when he was distrustful of her, he would have just divorced her right then and there, lol, and then it's back to the mountain with her. Later, when she got the edict, she again talked to her imaginary maid (herself) pondering what to do, but got scared he'd drive her away again and decided to wait as long as it lasts. She already knew he's not gonna take it well. I sympathize with FL here way more.

Talking about something else, anybody else felt that the marquis's sons were a waste of screen time? They didn't contribute much to the main plot. Was it to add some complexity to marquis's character? Tbh, that character is so one tone, his sons' plots looked tacked on.

I've read a good counter post below arguing that ML also didn't marry FL out of love, in fact, he was mean and neglectful to her at the beginning. FL could also get angry at him, but she didn't.
Anyway, the guy's clearly taking it very poorly. And looks like FL won't be able to clear this misunderstanding like she did before.

Exactly, they didn't marry out of love, or willingly either way. It was all earned later, but now he chooses to believe like nothing happened and it was all fake.

So, divorce talk still incoming? ML is not as infallibe as others are singing here?
Anyway, everyone already knows that there's gonna be an angst part of the drama with the leads separating. It's just a question of how well it's gonna be executed.

I read her posts and I just disagree. ML's gonna handle it poorly.
