Just watch it. The romance here is very sweet and genuine, actually. It's not the main focus though. And FL here slays, very cool character.

Yea, they could have let that first girl live instead of swapping her for another samey character. I understand that the first girl paved the way for female medics to be accepted, but she could have become the first one herself. The only difference in their characters is their demeanor, the second girl is more playful and charming.

It's very gradual, there are small scenes here and there from the beginning if you're paying attention. If not, then get to around episode 16.

I'm more concerned with ML saying he's gonna go back to the Astronomers Bureau when asking for marriage. They don't let people out of there to visit their families except on the Lantern Festival day, so that they'd stay away from court politics. ML couldn't either until he was given that permissory badge to help FL solves caes. He didn't think this through if he wants to be with FL. Nobody wants an LDR 🤣.
Personally, I think the leads need to get out of that shithole that is the palace - it's a viper's nest full of schemers.

It ramps up in later episodes.

There's romance in it as well. It's full package.

Will there be ambient/background OST later on? I really like music here, not just the songs.

I'm wondering from where ML's father heard the rumors that something was going on at FL father's mansion. I don't think it was explained. And if he heard, why nobody else did, or did but didn't do anything about it.
Or was it simply that army men got immediately caught after entering the city and that was the rumor that made ML's father go check out FL father's mansion.

He raised a good wholesome boy, ML's mother is also great.

I think they have holder contraptions for candles there, otherwise it's a serious fire hazard, being made of paper and all that.

ML's mom is the goat. Both his parents are great.

Well, I disagree about no chemistry. It's just that the romance here is not in your face and not the focus of the drama. And also both characters are quite quirky. But the way it is written - with subtlety, developing feelings by saving each other from danger and having meaningful private talks - it's actually quite believable and looks genuine.

That’s his casual waxed wig, lol. Nobody’s having hair that fine irl like they do in historical dramas.

Let’s hope there won’t be a Red Wedding, lol. But it should have a good ending according to the novel. Hopefully script writers won’t change anything drastically.
