If you're talking about Ye Li's straw dolls, then yep, it's that old hag, QD
Alternatively, it could be she made one for herself, but gawd I hope not.

Also, how bullied everyone are by the dowager that nobody dares to raise a point that the marquis worked for her loyally and she's also implicit in the edict case, most likely even ordered it found and destroyed. I hope SML kills the f out of her. They gotta utilize him against the villains.

I just feel all this plot device are a bit forced and illogical, even making the characters behave OOC. Her mother…
I think they want to hammer down mainly not that FL's family was implicit, but that FL married him out of obligation and doesn't love him.

I can understand his frustrations, but taking it out on FL to a point of serving her divorce papers is just dumb af.

Title The First Jasmine Spoiler
Can someone enlighten me, maybe I didn’t catch it but how come mo jingli killed that yuan fang guy at the beginning?…
To pin his death on the marquis covering for his family weaponry smuggling business.

ML is being a dick simple as that.
FL was not responsible for her family's mishap with the edict. Sure, she could have told him right away, but then he definitely would have driven her away from the house.
They lived together for around a year, getting close, she helped him A LOT and he promised her a lot of things as well - but now he got into his mind it was all just out of guilt from her part and is backpedaling on everything.
Going blind, deaf and dumb for the sake of unnecessary angst. I guess hoping for a rational ML in these types of dramas is asking too much...

It's all for the angsty drama. ML being mean and irrational to FL so the plot can finally return her to the Lishan mountan.

Yea, it's especially prevalent in historical cdamas. Anything from stress, to poison - vomit buckets of blood.

Also, wtf is with historical cdramas showing even mildly sick people vomiting blood like they have a terminal stage of tuberculosis? Is this some sort of traditional medicine beliefs akin to magical acupuncture and meridians?

Last 10 episodes got a bit draggy, with uneven pacing. But besides ML's questionable behavior towards FL and her mother at one point in the drama and getting lost in the sauce of the MacGuffin device's lore, it was a pretty good watch. Loved intelligent writing, complex & compelling villains and great cinematography.

Not sure what they're planning with that season 2 announcement though. The story looked pretty much finished.

It's not about chemistry at all. The issue is that the romance isn't the kind that a lot of people were expecting…
I tried, but I just can't watch dramas with that actor. Don't want to be shallow, but his face somehow is offputting. The plot also didn't grab me, maybe it gets better later.

I dunno, looks to me like a reach of logic just to excuse ML's incoming shitty behavior. I'm just gonna agree to disagree. Hopefully they're not going to drag this dumb angst too long, still lots of unresolved things to cover.

Chemistry and what is written in the script for the characters are different things.
One is about the ability of the actors to convey romantic feelings convincingly on screen and another are the instructions.
The script states they like each other, the chemisty though...is not convincing enough here tbh.
The script regarding romantic scenes could have been better written, mind, but the checkpoints were checked.

And sending her back to the mountain is not helping her. She already said she didn't want to go back. And knowing that she got her mental issues while living here, ML shouldn't be doing this. But looks like he's gonna backpedal on everything he promised and then feel like an asshole after seeing what happened there. Grey hair incoming justified.

Yea, probably lazy writers. Personally, not my favorite trope and I haven't seen a single drama where I liked a couple who were married from the start. It always felt like I was robbed of part of the plot and got thrown into the middle of it.

I think many people are misunderstanding the divorce, whether you like the divorce or not, its not due to fl's…
Didn't she already say that she liked him? And how dense is he to not see it with his eyes? That rain scene in the last episode was just obligation? Come on, just sounds like an excuse. Plus he already promised to never leave her no matter what, plus he knows about her mental state. He gonna backpedal out of all of this?
You guys were quick to praise how the leads communicated before this - but those were little misunderstandings FL quicky cleared with no painful baggage behind them. But as soon as a real big problem arises, the touted good commucation goes down the drain.

I'm interested to see what FL will say to his rant. Will she accept it like a sheep or say anything in return?

That's probably the reason dramas starting with the leads married at the start of the drama are rare. The audience wants to see the sparkly road that led to it, but somehow writers who do these sort of plots think they can skip all of that if the couple's already married.

Considering how these characters behaved with each other to this point I'm not holding my breath for any sudden bout of passion or sparks flying. It's just how they're written here, I think. At most we gonna get a reel of their happy mundane life with a kid or two at the end.

P.S. I really disliked that other drama. FL's character and acting there was so cringe I almost dropped it at one point. ML was more or less ok, but the actor really need to work on his facial expressions. Samey brooding glare most of the time. One thing I remembered out of it was the word "dudu", lol.

I'd rather marquis's son died rather than the princess. He's a boring character tbh, with very little impact on the story.

Well, it's too late to change anything now, the show's gonna end soon and lots of other things to cover besides romance sub-plot. This train has already left the station, so to speak.
