Lol, as soon as a 2fl joins all of a sudden people calling it too soapy, some people say theres not enough romance…
It's not about any side characters. It's mainly the main couple, not feeling it, seen better from both actors. Something's missing here.
They've also been saying they understand each other well, while keeping tons of secrets. It also looked for a while now that they've basically skipped a few steps in this relationship and are acting like an old married couple that only interacts doing mundane stuff at home. Where is the developing believable romance? FL narrating her teenage crush isn't it. And they've barely been on one sort of date.
I get that love can be expressed in various ways, this here is just maybe not my cup of tea. Never liked slow mundane soap in dramas.
Seriously, that sort of end for Qin Cang was just too sad; even the brother, as spoiled as he is, knew better…
I don't think he's dead yet. He was found pretty quickly. And what was the point of showing him with that travelogue girl if he just quickly dies like that.
I feel the Fl is so disconnected with everybody..... I mean obviously she will be with the experience she had.…
Their couple is not clicking with me either. Dunno what it is, the acting or writing. On her own she's great to watch though, when she's plotting something.
Somehow the more villains are plotting, the less interesting it becomes, often cartoonish. Def not the brightest I've seen. The empress dowager is especially dull to watch. FL's scheming and mountain mystery is the only thing that keeps me going. Romance is getting too soapy, tbh. Not my cup of tea.

Looks like speculation. Also, ML's hair turning grey just because of looming divorce is kinda lame. What they had in the novel sounded more reasonable.
I dont think FL believes they are going to be together foreever. Only matter of time before ML finds about edict..Now…
I'm starting to think ML is simply on FL's list of things to do. She's been feeling guilty over that edict thing, so she wanted a) to heal his legs, b) to bring the edict to the light again. She looks like a very selfless character, not wanting anything for herself. Even that bird story is telling. And she's also being very cagey and secretive, she only tells ML what he needs to know. Maybe those teased divorce papers will come as part of her plan.
