He's not a fighter, but he's very smart and knows not to get in trouble. And in fact he saves reckless FL here quite often.

Tbh, I’m not thrilled with director’s work in TFJ. Lots of spotty quality, haphazardly filmed scenes. And obvious questionable cuts even though it was a full 40 episodes drama. Could have been filmed better.
TFJ is mostly riding on fresh FL’s character concept, scheming plot arcs and vibing atmosphere (visuals+music).

I also liked BL in Unveil: Jadewind that aired in March, very underrated drama on MDL (it has higher score on Douban than TFJ or POJ). That one and TFJ are my favorite cdramas this year so far. BL is on a roll this year with thoughtful, mature, no-nonsense dramas that try something different. Also, completely different characters, but both very well written. For her TFJ Lishan arc performance I think she deserves to net all the yearly awards, was superb. Though UJ had better overall quality and tighter plot.

Nah, I dislike open endings. This here was good, but sorta kinda open.

It was a mish mash of ideas, some of which didn't pan out well. Seeing how there was a whole group of scriptwriters, you can get the idea why plot quality fluctuates here like crazy.

They actually didn't show what she wants. Only that her sanity revolves around ML. Too much focus on boring war and side characters in the last episodes. They should have instead extrapolated more how she recovered. ML being absent for a long time, forgetting she needs constant care to not slip backwards was annoying as well. She had to get herself together and come to him instead. And then basically nothing. Life goes on, blah, blah...

Btw, childbirth's been known to greatly help with PTSD, so they really should have added a kid or two. You can look it up. Likely something both hormonal and psychological.

And I don't really like how some people here (sometimes scriptwriters included) confusing FL with a child. She's a grown woman with mental health issues, but they shouldn't define or confine her. They did show things here and there in the last couple of episodes how to get her out of that state, but ML really should've taken care of her better in longer period, instead of being gone for half a year. It's like they only had one general left in the whole country, utterly ridiculous.

Lol, I didn't like those dramas much either. It was mainly because of the mediocre plot, I don't get easily swayed by visuals.

It's not just the lack of kissing scenes. There are several things that were lacking in their romance on a fundamental level. I wrote a review about this drama, explained what was off about it in detail. Won't get over the whole long shebang again in the comments.

Can't blame that person, we get mostly idol dramas nowadays, that's what people want, so it gets churned out in way bigger quantities. And every other drama still tries to regurgitate Nirvana in Fire tropes.

I agree about talent, so many cdrama actors who seem to have nothing else going for them other than a pretty face (often questionably natural). Most of kdrama actors surprisingly know how to act well, and there are lots of popular ones despite having regular appearance.

They were very funny in Unveil Jadewind, bickering all the time.

But it is though, says so in the genre. You don't have to apologize for scriptwriters' shortcomings. People have the right to downvote this drama for false advertisement.

If only kdramas had bigger budgets for historical dramas though. The only one that had somewhere near same quality assets was Alchemy of Souls and even that one looked rather cheap compared to some cdramas of that year. Kdramas excel more in modern dramas with creative plots. Cdramas are more like conveyor factory products with regurgitated plots.

Very valid points. I thought the same for the longest time, even their forced childhood connection didn't sell it for me. And seeing how they struggled to convincingly show proper romance until the very end, the scriptwriters themselves weren't convinced either.

It's a happy ending, it's just that 5 or so final episodes are very draggy, resolutions are anti-climactic and all romantic scenes got cut there.
