I'm gonna leave this long and messily unorganized analysis on Xuanji's character here that I've been thinking…
2/3 Another unique thing about XJ is her interesting type of femininity. She came off as the typical xianxia female character but I absolutely LOVED how she was super adorable and pure hearted but would beat anyone's ass who bullied her loved ones to the moon 😭 She was an amazing martial artist and MY GIRL GOT MUSCLES lol, the scene where she carried the passed-out SF in the jungle ON HER SHOULDER and the countless amount of times she saved him and her friends and family had me swoonin for her ^ ^ People called her heartless when she was being emotionally manipulated and blackmailed by her parents and gaslit by her own lover, but you all canNOT erase the fact that she was never a damsel in distress and that the ML and FL had an equal number of "I saved you" moments! It's just very rare to see female characters who keep their soft and super cutesy personality AND can kick butts at the same time!

1/3 Xuanji will always be a really REALLY unique character and Crystal's take on it will always be iconic regardless of all the hate, people will hate female character no matter what they do so I don't take these comments seriously lol...Xuanji wasn't dumb, clueless, naive or heartless. Her way of thinking and processing things was just DIFFERENT from other people and that has always caused her to have difficulties communicating with them. Don't want to say she's autistic coded or anything like that since this is a fantasy drama and I can't speak on this matter in anyway (If I say anything insensitive please educate me), but I once read a comment from a teacher saying she reminded them of their autistic student and how her logic in general was rather unique and different from other people than what they interpret as stupidity or naivety. (pretty much like the differences between neurotypical vs ND people irl. NTs always treat ND people the same way xuanji was treated in L&R's universe AND by most people who watched this show, ppl's lack of understanding of XJ's different way of thinking and behaving was even more prominent in the novel). So yeah, my girl wasn't dumb, she was just different. If you watch the show again you might notice how she always lives in her own world and how her beliefs and conclusions are actually quite smart in a sense that she thinks and observes differently.

I was okay with him tbh since it's just a fantasy drama but the reality is that the person's "intention" doesn't really matter as long as actions have consequences... people whom we assume are toxic to their partners in real life do definitely not wish to harm their loved ones too and "think" they're protecting them but they still end up hurting them! With this logic every toxic behavior can be excused cause nothing is really black and white and no human is pure evil... we can empathize with them but that doesn't make them any less toxic 🤷🏻♀
I read that this drama is centered around the male lead and he will have most of the screen time… hopefully…
yeah I saw that too and I usually am very skeptical about this kind of a thing but these producers are different from those greedy sexist ones who always highlight male characters for their dirty marketing purposes so I still think it'd be really good for her if she aaccepts it
Being too sexy and gorgeous is a really hard... Everybody is head over heels for BL and men's fans get mad about it so they make up an imaginary narrative that SHE'S the one obsessed with their dudes when in reality it's her coworkers who always love her 😭 funny how people always want to think women are dying for men when the women in question are way more attractive than said men
Read a rumour that BL's not gonna accept this but I hope she does cause I love the social commentary in this team's work and it's good for her career since they usually get critically acclaimed. I like her idol dramas but I'd love it more to see her become a serious actress at some point like how zly did for e.g., she has the skills and talent (AND ofc to redeem herself from her male costars' toxic fanbases)...I'll be really happy if it turns out to be TJC and BL in the end 🤧
