On a side note, I really hope CLJ becomes a turning point for xianxias in general. We are tired of multiple lifetimes misunderstanding blood vomit and constant torture. I need to have a balanced amount of fun and emotional moments, look at pretty mythological characters with pretty colorful clothes be in dreamy places, do epic things, have actual personality, be logical and make reasonable decisions, kiss kiss get tortured a little bit and happily ever after

I don't think Jieli or xunfeng or any of the characters will back stab the mains, they'll probably help them in the end...I'm still not mad at Jieli tbh I know she's gonna regret it soon.

like I did expect to have fun and look at pretty things watching this after the trailers dropped but I was genuinely not expecting the characters and the overall story to actually look like a story written by a professional writer lol...I really came in prepared to get frustrated at them doing stupid things that don't make any sense but It's not happening I feel like I'm dreaming lmfao. It really began a little bit Stockholm syndrome-ish but the way their relationship is going is actually quite.. healthy?

This fvcking drama has no fvcking business getting better and better as it goes on like wtf I don't even know what to say anymore....I'm just gonna send the screenwriter virtual hugs for how amazingly she did this. I can't believe I'm watching a xianxia drama with characters that are THIS wise, care for BOTH their responsibilities AND their loved ones, communicate with e/o instead of hiding shit from e/o in the name of protecting one another and don't do stuff so frustrating that makes you want to pull hair out of your head and eat your fists. They're having their character development so smoothly it doesn't even feel like they've took a 180 over night, they're the same people but more mature and more considerate. The core of the story is nothing new but the way the story shapes itself is so perfectly VOID of absurd and unnecessary xianxia tropes Idk what to say fr this production team deserve the entire world

Still not rated. Douban's function is very confusing to me cause some dramas are instantly rated after a couple of episodes from them airing but some like this have aired 3/4 of the show and still no rating lol...Let's pray for at least a 7🤲🏻

Was thinking about it in my sleep last night (as I do every night since she started airing lmfao) and came to conclusions that I really like how dfqc is a no bs man. Considering the fact that this is an Asian drama and that it has 36 episodes (short for a cdrama but still pretty long), there was really not much annoying and draggy "Now I'm gonna pretend to hate you and treat you like trash cause I'm a very tough guy and my fragile masculine ego can't accept the fact that I like you". It happened once but it was more bc he was afraid of his emotions coming back and it didn't last long.There was an appropriate amount of pushing and pulling between them that was necessary for the development of their relationship but they are both pretty straightforward and welcoming to their feelings for e/o. This is the thing I like a lot about the love line in this show and I hope they keep that in the remaining episodes too.

Okay but after thinking about it, I'd actually watch a drama with this kind of a female lead religiously. I love a good manipulative woman

Read the last sentence in my comment and you'll get why I PERSONALLY think so 🤷🏻‍♀ it's a personal opinion of mine, MY logic doesn't allow me to see a man who has multiple women, sleeps with all of them and uses them as companions when he's emotionally burdened as innocent. Most dramas want us to think wives and concubines of kings/princes/men from ancient times in general don't dislike these husbands of theirs at all and don't think they're at fault for what they go through but the reality is that that kind of a thing never happened outside of fiction. All of them deffo hated their husbands and I know she didn't want him to feel guilty, but I want him to do lol. I know what the drama is trying to tell me, I just can't buy it.

The blue whisper is already done and the upcoming ones are Back from the brink, Legend of ShenLi and Love you seven times. SiMing (the story of xlh's master) was supposed to be adopted into a drama as well (by the same company who has produced LBFAD), but there's been no news about it for a long time now. Really hope they cast Li Yitong as Siming if they actually make the drama one day!
And yes! I agree with The legends. Zhao Yao was an amazing character and the story had so much potential in general but they butchered it so bad 🤦🏻‍♀

This one was peak comedy

Just remembered the good old times Iqiyi decided "Eternal love" as the title for this drama and got everybody freak out over how stupid it was...ngl I was personally like INSTANT PASS the moment I saw that title on my ig feed. crazy how fast the night changes I guess?😹
I still think "Parting of Orchid and Demon king" would be a much better English title though.

Yup they're both from Jiu Lu Fei Xiang. Three other stories of hers are already being made into dramas. All the past drama adoption of her novels except CLJ were hella messy so I hope the upcoming ones are actually good and do her amazing storytelling justice 🤞🏻
