I think now that this drama has reached this point, we've got to collectively agree that it proved a bubbly, cute, not necessarily physically powerful or crazy genius female character CAN still be great in her own way. Xiao Lan Hua has already shown how amazing she is a bunch of times and sorry but people who are past halfway through the show and still call her stupid whatsoever are just biased against her personality. 🤷🏻‍♀ This is probably the closest portrayal of such a woman to actual reality, what she does and the decisions she makes make lots of sense logically and her existence in general feels like an independent individual rather than a plot device for ML' redemption arc and a show off for his power.

Fr I loved that drama insanely and obsessively but can't get myself to watch it again eventhough I want to. Even thinking about it feels like stabbing my heart with a bunch of needles...and that is exactly why they succeeded in creating a memorable tragic ending. The neverending sorrow that comes with the mere thought of that show for us as the audience reflects the guilt and sadness Yisan felt for the rest of his life.

Empress xuan telling the king she hopes they'll never meet in their next life right before her death reminds me of The red sleeve cuff..That's the worst thing you could say to your husband before dying, it basically makes that person tainted with an unending feeling of guilt for the rest of their life and I know she was like no it's not your fault and shit but these royalty men who have as many women as they want and do whatever they like with them deserve to suffer from the guilt as much as possible, FVCK all of them!! I don't care about how much tv shows whitewash them and try to make them likable, they're all trash in my eyes
