You are right he can convey his emotions and thoughts through his eyes, manner and the tones of his speech. WL is such a talented actor. My heart broke seeing CSS cry her heart out. She always considers herself a strong and independent woman but at that moment she conveyed her vulnerability which it shows she trusts LBY that's why she didn't hold back to reveal that side of her. ZLS keeps surprising me. She keeps getting better and better with her acting. CSS character gives her a lot of opportunities to challenge herself and explore her talent as an actor.
I rewatched episode 36. During the cry scene, when CSS said she cried because she missed home. Episode 30 was the first time she was mentioned. I didnt read the novel so I am not sure whether she is still alive by now. In that scene, Consort Yue wanted to make her point by using that story as an example on how the Lady Ruyang was only good to the emperor after he ascended to the throne. Back then when the emperor was still poor, the Lady Ruyang did not even lend her money to the emperor's pregnant sister to buy meat for nourishment. The emperor had to go hunting by himself and almost got himself killed by the harsh weather.
