I am on episode 14. ML annoys me. I hope he fairs up well soon otherwise I will have to hope for FL to leave him.…
Gosh how I love all the oppose comments mine generated. As for those of you who sound upset that my initial thought of the ML's character wasn't good enough for the FL's character, well...we are at episode 29 now and I am seeing another test for this ML soon. I am seeing many commented that he's all talk and are waiting to see if he actually lives up to his words of how much he cares for her. I love the actor Ryan Cheng, he's one of my favorite but as for male lead character? His role in this drama I am not fond of. And again, his hair and makeup people need to be fired. His hair is too frizzy and his makeup is not good. He's much more handsome without it.

It was forcibly taken from her. It's FL's father who is to blame and her family in general. But if ML is going…
Not even that. She didn't do anything wrong but help him. She's the one that found the edict and turned it in. She didn't have to do it and cause trouble for herself. She did it because it's the right thing and that was what her mother wanted her to do. She has no fault in this whatsoever. If anything, he should thank her. Btw, I am very upset about the ML's makeup and his hair. Why does his hair has to be so frizzy? His hair/makeup people suck big time.

Damn I already have second lead syndrome 😭
I am not a fan of the ml without any valid reasons. Perhaps he's not my type? LOL kidding aside! But the sml Deng Wei. Definitely am. I saw a few of his dramas and I loveeeeeeeeee him. Btw, the supporting actors are all hotties as well especially with Riley Wang's dimple, and Tian Jia Rui's smile. Deng Wei? That man's eyes and nose...oh my!!!!!

Well if you think more deeply in this situation it's the FL who's really disturbed her mental state is more concerning…
Okay, we all know the male lead isn't going to end up with a permanent disability. It's a very sensitive topic, but based on the direction of the story, it's pretty clear the writers are setting things up for the female lead to help him walk again. I think some people are blowing things out of proportion by bringing disability into this discussion when that doesn't seem to be what the story is about. My point is simply that, as the male lead, I'd like to see more from his character than just feeling sorry for himself and silently watching his wife. I want to see more growth, action, and depth from him. Having a disability doesn't make someone weak but instead stronger.

You keep saying that and I'm starting to think you mean he ain't worthy because he's disabled and I hope I'm wrong.
You're misunderstanding my point. I don't keep criticizing his disability, and in fact, my comments have nothing to do with it. Automatically framing any criticism of his character through the lens of disability is missing the point entirely. I'm evaluating him as the male lead of a story. A compelling male lead should have meaningful character development, make impactful decisions, show inner strength, or actively drive the plot forward. So far, I haven't seen much of that from him beyond being the female lead's husband and trying to understand her. My criticism is about the writing, not his physical condition. A character can have a disability and still be charismatic, proactive, resilient, and fascinating to watch. Those qualities are what make a great protagonist. Right now, I simply haven't seen enough of them from this character. There's a difference between criticizing a character's development and criticizing a disability. Conflating the two shuts down legitimate discussion about the quality of the storytelling.

huh how is he annoying and wy do you think he's not worthy
As a male lead, what has he done? Not as a person or a regular character, but a lead character.

Title The First Jasmine Spoiler
I am on episode 14. ML annoys me. I hope he fairs up well soon otherwise I will have to hope for FL to leave him. He ain't worthy.

I also want to clarify something because I know this discussion will likely bring up disability as some of you have. My comment has absolutely nothing to do with the male lead's inability to walk. In fact, it's pretty obvious that he'll eventually walk again. My criticism is about his character development. As the male lead, I expect to see more than him feeling sorry for himself or simply trying to understand his wife. I want to see qualities that make him a compelling protagonist, strength, growth, initiative, or resilience. The female lead, despite all the trauma, loss, and emotional struggles she's endured, continues to face him with a smile. She cares for him, supports his family, and is doing everything she can to help him walk again. We also understand that her mother couldn't save his brother, and her father's side of the family may have been involved in his brother's death, so perhaps she feels a sense of responsibility. Whatever the reason, she has consistently shown courage and selflessness. So when I say he isn't worthy of her right now, I'm comparing the effort and emotional strength we've seen from both characters. Maybe the story will soon shift its focus and give him the development I'm hoping for.

I don't like nor dislike his character but he truly is easy on the eyes haha
You're too modest. Imagine walking by a guy looking like that on the street. He's so tall too.

I'm dropping this drama after Episode 5. I started out really loving it and enjoyed both leads, despite all the complaints about the male lead not being good-looking. Personally, I think he's very manly and attractive.

I like the female lead too, but her character seems to get weaker as the story progresses. Her loud personality was hilarious and refreshing in the first few episodes, but after a while, it started to become more annoying than charming. especially how loud she is.

As for the villain, he plays the role convincingly, he definitely has that sinister presence.

I expected this drama to be lighthearted and entertaining, but instead it became surprisingly stressful to watch. So, I've decided to stop here. Hope the rest of you enjoy it!

I don't care that I dislike 2ml's character. The actor is so good looking. He's music to my eyes. While the ML, he's one of my favorite too but who's in charge of his makeup in this drama? That person needs to be fired. I am excited to see how the FL's multiple personalities is going to play out.

Right, why did he come to the shenao villageI just want skip all his parts but his conversation with ml fl has…
Just curious, have you ever been in a love triangle? Ok you guys, I am not sure if his part in this drama is considered SML but if he is then he's a good third wheeler. And I think parts like this gives us impression of the strength of the love in between the leads. The annoying one in a love triangle are those who manipulate, harm, and cheat to get their ways. That definitely doesn't exist here. The leads aren't being harm whatsoever. Anyhow, a bad third wheeler will appear soon so don't hate the "SML". Save that for the soon to come one LOL.

It's not a love triangle but a one sided love. And that one sided love needs to be hit with a touch of reality…
I don't think he has seen much of the drama. But hey, we all have different taste. I don't get pay for promoting this drama, so I won't.

It's not much of a love triangle at all. Don't misjudge by the comments you see. If you're looking for a mellow romantic drama, this is it. Nothing is too extreme in here to raise your blood. I think it's very entertaining; exactly what entertainment is all about.

Shen Ming Ying is absolutely amazing—I love how she handles the cheating boyfriend with such grace and composure. She’s classy, level-headed, and honestly a standout. I’m really rooting for her and Liu Mao to end up together; they’d make such a charming couple, and I can already imagine the extra dose of humor they’d bring.
I saw some comments responding to my last post about how uncomfortable the leads can make each other, and I still stand by that. Being stuck in a car with someone who can’t carry a conversation would feel awkward for anyone. That said, I do like both leads—that’s why I’m still enjoying the drama. The male lead is undeniably appealing: handsome, intelligent, and caring—the full package on the surface. But he also has a darker side. He’s manipulative at times and tends to bottle everything up, which makes him hard to fully trust.
Personally, I’d rather be with someone who shares their thoughts and lets me into their world—someone who grows with me and faces both the good and the bad together. It’s difficult to connect with someone who appears caring but keeps everything hidden, as if every interaction is carefully calculated. That’s exactly why the female lead gets so frustrated, and honestly, I would too.
And his response when she’s upset? Painfully slow. He really needs to step it up and stop overthinking everything. Sure, as the main character he’s unlikely to lose her—but in real life, if you don’t express how you feel and show it clearly, someone else will. And by then, it’s too late.

People have different tastes cause I'm someone that doesn't like to talk much so just being next to each other…
I agree with you. There are definitely moments when it’s nice to simply enjoy someone’s presence and just be in the moment together. But outside of that—and even within it—I believe communication is the foundation of any strong relationship. Whatever your style of communication may be, what matters is making a genuine effort to express yourself and understand each other. Now, back to the drama—you’ll see in the upcoming episodes how the lack of communication creates even more tension between the leads. It leads to awkward situations, misunderstandings, and plenty of unnecessary heartache. Of course, that’s also what keeps the story going—otherwise, we’d have 15 episodes instead of 30.
Either way, it makes for an entertaining watch. I know I’m enjoying it!

Ok, I really like the drama because it's entertaining and it's relaxing to watch at the same time. In addition, the casts are all good looking. I actually really like Li Jun Xian's character and the way he look as well. He has a very charming facial feature and a nice, fun smile. His character is so far more interesting than the ML's. I like the ML but I feel like if I was the FL, I would have a crush on him when I was in school. But meeting him again after 10 years I am not sure I would still like him as much as the FL does. He's good looking and all but so far his personality as showing is so boring. In my late 20s if I am in a car with a guy and he can't carry a conversation, I would stay away the next time. Being around ML seems to be so uncomfortable and awkward. Having said that, I do understand the point of the drama and this is how they are drawn to each other. Besides, his true self as it has been somewhat revealed, he's not stiff and boring like that. I do hope things will change and these leads will have more interesting, mature, fun, silly moments. Overall, I like it, I just want more comedy and less awkward moments for our leads.

I’m really enjoying this so far as well. It’s unfortunate people feel the need to spread hate. It takes more…
I actually don't think people should be reading comments on internet if they want to watch their dramas in peace. As the matter of fact living in peace while reading comments on internet about anything just don't go together.

Filter 😅 ?
Filters and tons of makeup. Whatever the case, these days with all the cosmetic technologies we have, people are able to look so much better and younger at any ages. This is a good thing. Not to mention, he's already a good looking guy.
