this drama deserves all the nuanced takes it can get, and a controversial opinion might be that seonghyeon isn't the most greenest green flag green forest cutie patootie that we think he is.

now OBVIOUSLY he's the greenest flag out of all the characters in this show (except my pookie daon i will die defending his honour i swear to you) and obviously he's a genuinely sweet guy with good intentions and a pure heart. BUT!!! i feel like if we're gonna give jaemin and suhyeon their shit and talk about daon's flaws too, we have to talk about how seonghyeon is also not the best when it comes to his relationship with daon.

let's get the biggest red flag out of here: he full on kissed, made out with, and was fully intending to have sex with a drunk man. not only was daon drunk, he was so out of it that he was falling down and passing in and out of consciousness constantly. yes, he initiated the kiss, but he was not in the right state of mind. there's a different conversation to be had if seongyeon himself was tipsy, but he wasn't, he was completely sober. he should have known better. he completely took advantage of daon in that situation and used daon's alcohol-induced neediness as an opportunity to finally progress with his feelings that daon had not completely responded to and accepted at that point.

lesser point to make but still a worthy one in my opinion: his complete and utter inability to read a room 😭 (his first confession scene) jaanu you just saw how there's this weirdo director guy barging into daon's life, obsessively stalking him, aggressively yelling at him. you've been seeing daon feel sad and uncomfortable for days even though you don't know the reason (after he confessed and got rejected by jaemin). you just saw his father infiltrate (?) his workplace and make a whole ahh scene. and you decide NOW is the time to put even more on daon's plate and confess to him 😭😭 ig to his credit, he does say "you don't have to respond" and all that fluffiness but gawd damn if that was me i'd be so stressed out like,, my life is falling apart, two people who i've cut out of my life either willingly or forcibly are now back and causing issues, i just got rejected by my role model/influence/big brother/"idfk what the hell jaemin was to daon at that point" and now my coworker that was previously a whole hater and is now clingy to me just confessed?????? i'd start crying tbh.

i'm also kind of upset by how nobody in daon's life seems to take his "no" seriously. i just KNOW daon's arm is tired of getting dragged everywhere omg this guy's gotta have a permanent hand mark on his forearms frfr. obv suyeon is the bigger example bc omfg that bitch rlly just doesn't know how to take "no" for an answer. jaemin is also an example even before the psycho reveal, daon kept telling him not to interfere with his dad's shittiness and stop providing but jaemin still gave his father money and was still involved in his life, completely ignoring what daon was asking of him.

but to a lesser and more nuanced extent, his sister doesn't heed his warnings and advice either, actively doing the opposite (although it's a different conversation bc as a fellow "younger sister in an upsetting family where my older brother kind of disassociated with the toxicity in our household" i fully get where her head is at and relate to her incredibly) and especially seonghyeon doesn't listen to daon whenever he tells him no either. "let's go get dinner" "no i don't want to" "ayyye you're coming anyways." NOW SEE OKAY I AM STILL FOR THIS BEHAVIOUR it's portrayed in a cuter light than it is with suyeon and we do feel like daon's saying no in a more quote unqoute "tsundere" type of way, but still. taking words at face value,,, idk where i'm going with this but you get what i mean right???? it's still cute tho idk

in conclusion: idk what this means i still fucking love seonghyeon my darling sweetie baby jaanu jaan ka tukra but we have to admit some of his flaws bc i love this show and how fucking nuanced it is omg i am obsessed ahhhhhh

that last scene was so traumatising for me. not the knife thing, the assault before that. heck even suhyeon's assault too (and it WAS assault to all the people saying "why didn't he push away suhyeon when he pushed away jaemin. cmon bro tell me you've never been abused in your life without telling me you've never been abused in your life) just. i need daon to get away from all of this, leave that company, go abroad and just live his life without these life sucking leeches causing him problems all the time 😩🙏🏼

daon telling seonghyeon like "i'm not that good as you think i am" or whatever noooo my bby has such low self esteem im sad 😭🤲🏼 genuinely there's no red flag with him at all literally it's everyone around him that's the problem: he has a gambling dad, a psycopath "protector", an aggressive obsessive stalker, and genuinely the worst circle of friends a person could have. "he's so hung up on the past" of course he is???????? the past was a big part of his life, jaemin (ew ew ew he's so ew i hate him ew) was arguably the biggest influence in his life and he owes a lot to him so of course he's hung up on him, suhyeon was his first love and their whole deal was so explosive and frankly traumatising so obviously he's hung up on him too?? his whole life is also depressing as shit growing up poor having to work all the time to provide for your family bc your dad is a deadweight, of course he's hung up on that too. and don't you know it everytime he tries to set a boundary, stop talking to jaemin, reject suhyeon, cut off his dad, they all keep coming back into his life and screwing it up again it's not his fault!!!!!! "seonghyeon needs to run away from daon he doesn't need this smoke" ok honestly fair but also ☹☹☹☹ no they need each other ahhhhhhh

are the people who keep saying that daon is a pushover who let's himself be manipulated and doesn't stand up for himself all blind???? 😭😭 i feel like daon is one of the least pushover of the ""damsel in distress"" type characters i've ever seen literally every scene with suhyeon, daon is always refusing him in some way or another "no, let go of me, i won't go with you, i am not listening to your demands" that bitch stays rejecting suhyeon but suhyeon is the most obsessive aggressive guy i've ever seen so he never minds it and keeps going on ahead like nothing. daon never felt any suspicion about jaemin ever, jaemin never showed any other colour to him except for green so of course he would "allow himself to get manipulated" he doesn't know anything about what's happening in real life outside of what jaemin shows him, that's literally what manipulation is!!!! as soon as he gets wind of jaemin being a weirdo he immediately takes action to confront jaemin and cut ties with him is that not standing up for yourself??? naur bc im daon defender for life bro that's my child right there

i feel like this "jaemin was evil all along" twist isn't even really a twist!!! ike obv yeah ofc it's a twist but i think honestly it was well foreshadowed like there was a lot off about him even in the beginning episodes and whereas i felt some scenes regarding his dubious morality were a bit heavy handed and on the nose ("oh my godd 🤯🤯 he's playing chess 🤯🤯 it's almost as if he's some 🤯🤯 mastermind manipulator 🤯🤯🙏🏼") i feel like it was mostly pretty subtle and sowed enough seeds of doubt in your (well at least mine) mind about his true intentions that when everything is laid out it's not unbelievable. damn. this shit's great

yo that scene with jaemin and suhyeon in the stairwell or wherever tf it was, it actually disturbed me.... the way jaemin was talking about daon like he's some kind of toy or dog or something "i had him all to myself, im being nice and sharing him with you" tf is that supposed to mean???????????????? bruh all the manhwa reader comments telling us he was the evillest of all the evils in this show i was like "you're telling me he's more evil than the abusive and scary stalking ex that smashed a bottle on top of a guy's head??? this i gotta see" nope. i did not gotta see. actually i pretend i did not the see. what a twist omg
