this is honestly the best role i've seen joongdunk in they're really stealing the show for me !!! i am so fucking obsessed with firstkhao so the fact that i'm so much more invested in fadelstyle's story is insane to me lmao
its not much of tackling homosexuality but more of tackling usual teenage thing - what do i really feel for him/her…
i feel there is a bit of internalised homophobia bc he says "i won't fall for you, we're both men" implying that he believes two men cannot fall in love with each other... also idk how it's gonna play out but next week's preview saying "so are we both homosexuals" is maybe gonna be them figuring out their sexualities and coming to terms with it so
really love Nico iaco's theory about maybe dohoe hates violence bc of his lil rant about it and he is either mad at juyeong for enacting violence upon his dad (which would be a bit odd since he alr said he doesn't care about juyeong hitting his teacher but i digress) or that he becomes scared of himself when he's about to fucking stab his father (π) and thinks hanging around juyeong might make him violent too bc he would want to protect him or something,, that last theory i can see happening and its really fun to think about
personally i don't think juyeong's pissed off dohoe by this encounter, i mean mans was ready to stab a bitch like so i don't really get why people think he would be mad at juyeong for hitting his dad and that's why he's ghosting him,, imo i think dohoe is actually mad at himself. he's not dumb i mean he noticed that juyeong was getting hurt he got really mad about it too, and im very sure he doesn't fully believe juyeong when he says that he's only getting hurt by practicing.. maybe he is now thinking that he may be the reason juyeong is getting hurt, and the only way for juyeong to not get hurt by his father's hands is to distance himself. and i mean it works lowkey right like for 12 years he doesn't talk to juyeong and for those 12 years it seems like juyeong and his dad's relationship became a lot better for sure.
which, also, if i (and like basically every child in my town) got abused by my father and he turned basically the whole town against me because of it AND he hurt my friend/lover and i cut him off for it,, i would also be just a smidge angry at my ex lover if he becomes buddy buddy with him like πππ wdym you're acting like a son to the dude who not only abused ME but YOURSELF TOO LIKE MAKE IT MAKE SENSE HELLO.
but ALSO idk juyeong kind of bonding with dohoe's dad kinda makes sense too. i mean i buy that it started off as kind of a compulsory thing where he feels that if he continues to keep a link to his father then maybe he'll get to see dohoe again. but i also think over the years (i mean 12 years is a long fucking time) he kind of grew attached to him in an odd way like.. it's fucked up but many people who have been abused start forming bonds with people who were their abusers and choose to forgive (including myself, not saying im proud of it but like people are complicated)
switching back to dohoe's pov idk i feel like if i had to come to realise the man who abused me and kind of kept me stunted in life fucking died and i was finally free i would be feeling complicated emotions too and even though i'm glad he's dead he's still my dad so im a bit pissy about the whole thing. also come to find out the one person i thought would sympathise with me and knows what i was going through was fucking best friends with the dude like,, i mean i would make that comment too idk. i saw a comment that was like "it feels like dohoe is mocking juyeong for making all the effort at the funeral" but honestly i don't think it's malice bc at that point when that line happens, juyeong hadn't really been doing any of the host services, but i can get where dohoe is coming from -- maybe he's feeling a bit insecure bc juyeong kind of became the son that his dad wanted, the role he was never able to fulfill, and even though juyeong himself knows what a terrible man his father is, he still chose to keep in touch with him so he's a bit mad like "i thought we both hated this man what happened here?".
bro i really word vomitted here goddamn the dohoe glazing in this comment is wilddd but gen obv what he did is terrible (12 YEARS βπ THAS CRAZY MAN) and it's straight out of tms2 but i think this has the potential to be a very nuanced story where people do bad things to each other and it's terrible but its human. a lot of tms2 flashbacks bc i remember a lot of people hating on jiwoo for what he did too, instead of trying to understand WHY he did what he did. i honestly do think that dohoe's dad dying is the floodgates opening, that maybe dohoe thought that "him (dohoe) and juyeong being close" and "his dad being alive and well enough to do any of the ugly shit he was doing" can no longer be happening together bc it would ultimately lead to one of them getting hurt. and that now that his dad is finally dead and gone, he feels maybe he can rekindle at least his friendship with juyeong bc now his dad isn't around to hurt either of them anymore.
dohoe did fucking piss me tf off during the whole of ep4 like ππ girl wdym "gyeonggi do ilsan, to be exact" FUCKING SAYING HIS OWN WORDS BACK AT HIM LIKE ARE YOU MENTAL PLS πππ pissed me off in the exact same way jiwoo used to piss me off and im LOVING IT
damn okay so kinda went off with this comment a bit but like (ahem) in conclusion: obv you don't have to like this but genuinely i think people on mdl have no critical thinking anymore and just live for fluff or smut and nothing else and start hating on a story as soon as it gets even the slightest bit messy but like that's NEITHER HERE NOR THERE UM π if you're a normal person and this story still doesn't vibe with you then i totally get it !! but let's not act like hwang daseul doesn't consistently make nuanced stories where people do stupid shit sometimes and get surprised at a time jump that was introduced in the start of a series and was literally told to us in the fucking synopsis of the show like do you guys not read the summary before watching something we were TOLD this was gonna happen like cmon now. i do also agree though that TWELVE years is WILDDDD like i was expecting 5 max, but also 12 yrs is a looong time and we do have 4 eps still left so maybe we'll get explanations to what exactly happened in this long time idk
anygays ,, just i am SAT for the angst and i am SAT for this story and i hope everything gets explained to us and i hope it stays complicated and nuanced bc i live for that shit (hds if you fumble this story in the last few episodes im coming for you π₯°π₯°πͺ)
y'all are acting like the series is finished and all episodes have been released... "oh there's plot holes, oh this part of the plot is weak" that's bc the story is still being TOLD !!!!! π like chill y'all there's still 4 episodes left and so much shit happens in each episode that obv they're going to EXPLAIN what happened in the past 12 yrs in the next few episodes just be patient oml ππ
ok it's good !! but not great,, def not 8.1 but maybe closer to 7.8. i think it has solid actors, solid plot, solid story, but the direction/script is where the problem lies for me. if they went with more of a "never let me go" / "not me" vibe then i think it would have hit harder but idk with the way they've written it thus far, the "serious" scenes just fall a bit flat for me. if they just wrote/directed it in a more serious way i think i would have liked it better. still enjoying it though let's see what else they'll do with it!!
As already mentioned several times, the series is very much based on the novel, which is far more slow burn. And…
ohh i really agree with ur last point i never thought about it that way loll.. and i didn't mean it like there isn't ANY romance that's mb for phrasing it like that, i do think they've done well with what they have alr (idk esp that one scene in the classroom when sheng asks for a refill or something and tian kind of towers over him and sheng's looking up,, that's the kind of tension and shit i like, that kind of stuff really stood out to me lol) i just think for how long the episodes are and how long the season is, they could have done a lot more and for the most part these past three episodes i've been feeling like they need to hurry up since the season is almost over lol π€²π½π€²π½ maybe it's cuz of my own oblivious ace mind or something lol but a lot of the scenes that people here are saying are the romantic scenes, come off across more platonic to me (or at least from sheng's end, less so from tian) idk which again i do like but π ygm.. difference of opinions ig ^^
(also yes i was talking about the jbl my love mix up, it's mostly bc it's my first ever bl and also it's too cute and i loves me some fluff lol !!!)
hi, is this bromance or do they actually get around to confessing and all?
it's not a bromance, more akin to a censored bl honestly. they act as homo as they can without alerting china's gay alert π ain't nobody looking at their homie that way
in fact the chemistry between EVERYONE is great in this,, not just the couples (even though the couples have great chemistry too) but even friends and the chemistry between the doctors too.. most of the candid acting is believable like the doctor spraying dee with water in the first episode and his reaction to that or kao's reaction to dee's woes in the latest episode where he wants to strangle him for a split second lol. the chemistry between everyone is so great i just love this
i think this is def the best role drake has ever been in (that i've watched at least)!! in 2gether his character was annoying, well mostly for me bc i just didn't care for the love triangle thing. and in only friends i don't really remember much of his character besides,, the ,, the scenes BUT in this show drake steals all of my attention in every scene he's in!! (and the fact that he's ace in this definitely isn't speaking to my bias or anything nope nuh uh why would you even think thatβ)
