i really do not like the "bringing back an ex to stir up unnecessary drama after the main couple finally confesses to each other and start dating" trope, it usually pisses me the hell off. this case is not much different but i feel like they actually put some effort into this storyline so it doesn't completely fall to crap.
duang is characterized very well, he doesn't seem jealous of tiw at all, but rather sad and upset, scared that tiw really does hold some meaning in qin's life (which, of course he does) and what that means for their relationship.
he's scared that the person who so easily broke the walls he had to fight tooth and nail to bring down might actually succeed a second time.
duang has been shown to be self conscious about himself, he labelled himself not the best, he's scared that he may not be the one qin needs. i feel like if the writers and directors of the show play their cards right, they can turn this fuck ass shitty ass annoying ass trope around and take it as an opportunity to show how much qin cares about duang.
of course, we can see how qin's eyes change throughout the show, how his cold and hard stare slowly transforms into an endearing smile. but duang is constantly insecure about how much qin really likes him. everytime qin does something intimate towards duang, he shows genuine surprise "you care about me that much? you're worried about me too?"
duang's whole life revolves around qin right now, and i think he needs to take a step back and figure out his life without him too. and in the process, i'd imagine qin would realise how much duang really adds to his own life, how his self prescribed lonerisms go away because he wants to be around duang.
it would be a good opportunity for the show to flip, and instead of duang chasing qin, now we get to see how qin reclaims duang.
i don't think tiw is gonna matter much in this conflict, more so the aftermath of it maybe. whatever scenes we've seen of tiw and qin, qin STAYS rejecting that motherfucker, no matter the amount of times he tries to get back with him. he ignores his texts, leaves after one sentence the first night they reunited, left immediately after the band practice was done, and firmly establishes duang as (not a boyfriend, but) an important person in his life the best way he can. i think no matter how much tiw tries to get qin back next episode it is not gonna work, i don't see it going past more than two scenes of this.
but i rlly do hope the context surrounding this whole thing works out and doesn't fall flat bc this show is just golden episode after golden episode and i'd hate for that streak to break.

the second is definitely boundaries. qin has very strict walls up around his heart and they've hardened with everything he's experienced in his life, tiw being one of them. his walls used to be more easily broken, seeing how he would fake punch duang the first few times he would try any kind of intimacy, but accepted tiw almost immediately. obviously because of this his walls have only gotten stronger and duang had to face the brunt of that to get to his soft side.
duang is incredibly patient, we've only had so much screentime with him but from what we can see i would assume tiw is not.
duang floats the idea of taking qin home and backs off every time he says no, persisting in moderation until qin agrees by his own volition. tiw says it once and doesn't take no for an answer the first time, no matter how qin feels about it.
duang offers to carry qin's things, and doesn't push until qin himself accepts his help. tiw tries exactly one time and then takes the guitar from qin despite him saying no.
tiw grabs qin's hand and drags him away immediately. duang offers his hand and doesn't say a word until qin voluntarily drops his hand into duang's.
tiw treats qin as a prize, a trophy he'll win after beating a level. he'll complete "tasks" to gain qin's good will with the reward of qin becoming his boyfriend by the end, without taking his feelings into consideration at all. duang treats qin as a person. when qin asks him what he likes about him, he starts off with the physical attraction but ultimately the main pull was qin's soul, his passion towards music, his voice, his vibe.

firstly and most obviously i'd say is the intention. qin said before that he doesn't tolerate friends to lovers (gotta say qin that's one of my favourite tropes you're kinda breaking my heart over here) and he would prefer someone to come at him straight.
the early interactions tiw was having really gave off friendly flirting vibes to me, and i think qin probably also saw it like that. my closest friends and i are constantly joking about being each other's wives and holding hands and talking about "dating" but there's the obvious underlying truth we all accept that of course it's just a joke and it's all for fun, it's only to show that we care for each other so much it can be thought of as romantic.
that kind of relationship imo is only for the closest of closest of friends, i would not act that way with an acquaintance, and if qin is anything similar to me (WHICH HE IS I LOVE HIM) it would hold the same for him.

when i was watching only boo (even though i only watche dlike 5 eps) my main takeway was that it was rlly cute but god bless sea he couldn't act for shit, which kind of coloured my opinions on seakeen since. but goddamn watching this show... they're both so good in it it's like these roles were made for them. i esp love the banter relationship!! one of my biggest gripes with ""enemies-to-lovers"" relationships are that they almost always lose that firey tension they had after becoming partners, or they keep fighting but in a toxic way that makes me really not care for them anymore. there are so few media out there that keep that playful banter and teasing strong and realistic after coming together, and this show esp sells it bc the banter is tinged with an endearing edge to it, it's really cute!! i feel like after this show, seakeen have major potential to become gemfourth or firstkhao levels of loved in the fandom bc they're really selling this show for me!!

i never thought about it like that but that makes a lot of sense!! j definitely has a saviour complex and it's eating him alive. as a person that absolutely is terrified of confrontation i get where his head is at with hiding everything, he doesn't want to be the one to tell jinn about his father and when he pushed jinn's mom to tell him instead he couldn't stress the urgency of it because then he would have to admit to the visions. but reading this, you're so right that he absolutely should tell jinn and i hope this last scene in the episode would lead into that next episode. he's being given the opportunity to see into the future (or an alternate reality ig because he intends to change the future) and at first he was using it correctly, saving jinn from all the pain, but now as soon as it gets out of his comfort zone he's back to secrets and lies even though jinn so frequently asks him about it and is definitely concerned.
about van and farm: i kind of never cared about them at all besides farm ig bc bro is majestic and i love him and he plays pining and yearning so well. i didn't really care for van and so i kind of just wanted the storyline to stay farm pining and eventually getting over van.
he always gave me "im bored and have no other people to fuck with and you're right there in front of me and giving me all this attention so im gonna lead you on," energy but in a subconscious way that even van doesn't know that he's doing it. there were a few moments here and there that were like "oop wow okay so he does have feelings for farm" but for the most part that's what it gave me.
until episode 7, when they had the conversation in the restaurant after visiting van's parents. the conversation was so charged idk it felt like a confirmation of a situationship, like they both know where they're standing right now and that they're not friends anymore but they're not officially dating and that farm is obviously pining for van but neither of them are taking the first step and that they're staying in this little bubble of whatever they are that no one (except mai ig 😭) is acknowledging.
i kind of wished they stayed in that situationship bubble a little longer, because honestly i feel like that would have been more interesting. it would be like, neither of them confirming anything but it being pretty obvious what they are, and since old habits die hard, van can still do that chasing after other girls when drunk and farm can still get upset bc they both know what they are but they still haven't said it explicitly and so there's the added tension of farm being upset but overthinking if he even has the right to be upset.
i feel like with the situationship route, van could also earn farm's feelings, like farm is already head over heels in love with this guy but there's obviously something holding him back that's not just not knowing if van likes him back but also reservations about his nonchalant behaviour on relationships, heck even his friends don't really like him when it comes to his actions in relationships.
idk ig all i really want is for van to bring his bangs closer to the front of his head and and some volume to the roots omfg im tired of seeing his fuckass forehead.

but i was thinking about the "consequences of changing the future" thing the whole episode even without knowing about the end, and when that random pole fell on jinn i was like ok yeah this is it, random things are gonna keep happening that j can't predict bc he's trying to change the future and since he saved jinn once the universe is compensating by throwing a random pole at jinn so he still gets hurt somehow as destined.
but then it flipped the idea on its head and instead the consequences of him changing the future wasn't jinn getting hurt bc be was saved before, but j getting hurt bc he talked to jinn's mom. i really was not expecting it and i love that bc it feels like i can't be surprised in a bl (especially a gmmtv bl) anymore since almost everything is a big predictable now.
i also really need to stop watching previews for both the next episodes and the next quarter parts of the episode bc god damn the spoilers are real i kind of would have loved being in the dark for a whole week not knowing if j was okay or not.
