cheating is cheating if it's done without the consent of the partner -- open relationships are a thing and rely heavily on communicating throughout the relationship to make sure certain boundaries are set and either party is comfortable having sex on the side as you said. sneaking around, lying, not telling your partner about your plans is definitely cheating and definitely not warranted even in an asexual relationship. as an ace person i can tell you that relationships bw ace people and people that want to have sex are very difficult,, some people can push it aside and engage for their partner, others are extremely sex repulsed and can't do that. unfortunately, sex is a deal breaker in these kinds of relationships and it is crucial for both partners to communicate that and find a middle ground or break up, sadly that's just how it has to be. there's no communication in either of these two relationships which is what makes it troubling.
that's real life though, and this is a drama. i really don't condone cheating especially for reasons like this. comments like "a man has needs" rlly piss me tf off lol but i'm still enjoying this series bc it's not real lmfao. we don't need to justify cheating in order to root for our protagonists imho, sometimes relationships are messy and complicated and good people make really wrong decisions. it's just fun to watch a drama with this concept but we shouldn't use it as an excuse to condone cheating just because the protagonists are struggling. if it was real life i would say "COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR PARTNERS ABOUT YOUR NEEDS BEFORE DOING THIS" but it's not real life and i'm just living for the messiness and drama lol :))

i think there's a difference in certain shows with the way they go about this sort of thing. i don't really like shows like tharntype or love in the air bc they more so romanticise SA and put sexy music on top of a scene that would otherwise be very traumatising... other shows like happy of the end, jazz for two or even this one don't really do it like that like i don't think any one watched the locker kiss scene and said "omg that was so hot the way style full on smooched fadel w/o consent 3 times" but gen i also don't think this scene was portrayed as something that was unconsentual or traumatising -- more so like something fadel just doesn't wanna do yknow like an annoyance or inconvenience, not like full on assault. so idk i think this scene kind of gets a pass in my book but open to other opinions too obv!!!
