Besties, Heartbreak & Hero Moments

🚨 Episode 2 Spoilers 🚨Episode ThoughtsEpisode 2 was a definite step up from the premiere. The story felt more focused, and I enjoyed the balance between the workplace drama, heartbreak, and character development. We got to spend more time with the characters rather than rushing through plot points, which made it easier to connect with what everyone was going through.Character Notesā¤ļø Yao Jing JingMy MVP of the episode.Watching her march into the ex-boyfriend’s workplace and call him out for his behaviour was incredibly satisfying. Every drama heroine deserves a friend like her.šŸ‘€ Male LeadHe’s slowly winning me over. The way he looked after the FL after finding her drunk showed a much softer and more considerate side to his character.Favourite MomentšŸ”„ Yao Jing Jing publicly calling out the ex-boyfriend.It was the kind of best-friend energy we all love to see.Final ThoughtsThis episode gave us heartbreak, office politics, and a few hints of what the relationship between our leads might look like moving forward. The friendship dynamic is one of the strongest parts of the show right now, and the ML definitely gained some points with me this episode.Current VerdictEpisode 2 was better than Episode 1 in almost every way. Better pacing, stronger character moments, and enough emotional drama to keep me interested.

A Choppy Start, But I’m Not Giving Up Yet

OMG Moment:The female lead catches her boyfriend with another woman, only for him to turn around and break up with her because she’s ā€œtoo perfect.ā€ The audacity of this man deserves an award. 😭Favourite Character:šŸ’š Li Yi Fei – He keeps getting pulled into the female lead’s problems and can’t seem to stop himself from helping her, even when he pretends he wants nothing to do with the situation.Favourite Scene:The chance encounters, her constantly having near misses or bumping into him. She’s always bouncing forward. Then in work situation he bumps into her 🤭Trope:✨ Bickering HousematesRandom Fangirl Thoughts:I didn’t hate the episode because of the acting—the cast did a solid job. My biggest issue was the editing and pacing. The storytelling felt choppy, with scenes jumping around in a way that made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the drama. It also felt surprisingly slow, even for a slow-burn setup. That said, I already like the female lead. She’s clearly intelligent and capable, having successfully exposed corruption through her work. Unfortunately, she seems to have a major blind spot when it comes to her boyfriend. While she’s willing to work hard and earn her success, he’s the complete opposite—constantly looking for shortcuts and easier opportunities. His decision to leave her for a wealthy woman feels less like a sudden betrayal and more like an extension of his character. The first episode didn’t completely hook me, but the housemate setup, growing tension between the leads, and Li Yi Fei’s green-flag tendencies have convinced me to stick around for Episode 2.Episode Verdict:šŸ¤” Not love at first watch, but enough potential to keep me watching. The editing needs work, but the characters and housemate dynamic could end up carrying this drama. šŸ‘€šŸ”„

Chu Zhao Steps Into Her Power

Episode ThoughtsThis episode was a definite improvement for me.The pacing felt much stronger than Episode 1, and I found myself far more invested in the political side of the story. The power struggles are becoming more interesting, the stakes are getting higher, and Chu Zhao is finally starting to show exactly why she's such an important player in this world. One of my favourite moments was seeing Chu Zhao ride into the palace alongside the Imperial Grandson. It was such a visually stunning scene and really felt like a statement of intent for her character.Character Notesā¤ļø Chu ZhaoMy favourite character this episode. We got to see more of her intelligence and strategic thinking, which made her much more compelling to watch. She's beginning to feel less reactive and more in control of her own destiny.šŸ‘€ Xiao XunWatching his plans unravel was incredibly satisfying. For someone who seemed so confident in Episode 1, things suddenly aren't looking quite so certain for him.Favourite MomentšŸ”„ The Imperial Decree announcing the Imperial Grandson as Emperor and Chu Zhao as Grand Princess. After everything Xiao Xun had been plotting, seeing his plans completely thwarted was so satisfying.Final ThoughtsThe ending has left me with so many questions.Chu Zhao has sworn never to marry or have children, which feels like a pretty bold statement in a romance drama. I'm already curious to see how that's going to play out.I also can't stop wondering about the connection between Xie Yan Lai (Fu Jiu) and Xie Yan Fang. The drama is definitely hinting at something there. And after realising this drama only has 24 episodes instead of 40, I'm expecting things to move pretty quickly from here.Current VerdictEpisode 2 was a big step up for me. Better pacing, stronger political intrigue, and a much more interesting Chu Zhao. Consider me officially invested

The Beginning of Betrayal

First ImpressionThis wasn’t the strongest first episode I’ve watched recently, but it definitely ended stronger than it started. The drama throws a lot at you straight away—family politics, court intrigue, betrayals, power struggles, and revenge. At times it felt like it was trying to fit several episodes’ worth of information into one, which made the pacing feel a little uneven.Episode ThoughtsThe biggest reveal of the episode was discovering that Xiao Xun has been plotting against Chu Zhou all along. Learning that he views the Chu family as a threat because of their military power instantly raised the stakes and gave the story a much darker tone. While I wasn’t fully invested in the first half of the episode, the latter part started pulling me in. The setup for the revenge and rebirth storyline has plenty of potential, and I’m interested to see how everything unfolds now that the main conflict has been established.Character Notesā¤ļø Xie Yan Lai* Easily my favourite character so far.* A man of few words, but somehow manages to steal every scene he’s in.* There’s an intensity about him that immediately caught my attention.🌸 Chu Zhou* She comes across as both intelligent and surprisingly naĆÆve.* You can tell she has potential, but right now she feels caught between trusting others and trusting her own instincts.šŸ Xiao Xun* The villain reveal definitely made him more interesting.* He’s already proving to be far more calculating than he initially appeared.Final ThoughtsThis wasn’t love at first sight for me, but I’m intrigued enough to keep watching. The pacing needs some work, but the revenge setup, political intrigue, and Xie Yan Lai’s presence have convinced me to stick around for Episode 2.Favourite MomentšŸ”„ When Xie Yan Lai stabs Xiao Xun after finding him standing over Chu Zhou’s body. That was the moment the episode finally clicked for me.Trope Checkāœ… Revengeāœ… Rebirthāœ… Political Intrigueāœ… Powerful General’s Daughterāœ… Betrayal & Scheming

Love, Obsession, and the Fall from Power

First ImpressionThis episode was chaotic, emotional, and honestly a bit tragic — especially with how everything played out in the end.āø»Episode ThoughtsThe episode kicks off with the truth from 17 years ago continuing to unravel as the male lead confronts the Prime Minister. Tensions are already high, but things escalate quickly when the Grand Tutor and Qi Min make their move to seize power. The fight between the male lead and the Prime Minister was intense, and it really shows how much the male lead has grown — he’s now able to go head-to-head with him and even disarm him. That moment alone felt like a huge shift in power. Then comes the unexpected emotional turn — the Prime Minister’s son stepping in and taking the arrow for the male lead. It adds a layer of complexity to everything, especially considering their past.Meanwhile, Qi Min’s storyline takes a darker and more tragic direction. His obsession with Manager Yu becomes painfully clear during their confrontation. His inability to let her go ultimately leads to that shocking moment on the wall. The way he drags her down with him and then, in his final moments, chooses to let her live instead is honestly confusing but also shows how twisted his feelings were. It’s one of those moments where you almost feel sorry for him — just for a second — before remembering everything he’s done. The episode does a great job of making you feel conflicted about certain characters, even the Emperor, who is completely exposed as powerless and terrified. Watching him beg for his life really drives home how much of a puppet he has become. We also see the Grand Tutor finally realise the truth about Qi Min’s actions, only for it to hit him too late. His collapse feels like the consequence of everything he chose to ignore.By the end, the Prime Minister is defeated but not killed, forced instead to face the consequences of his actions. And as more of the truth about the past comes out — especially involving the old Emperor — it becomes clear that the real story is even more complicated than we thought.āø»Character NotesFemale Lead:Strong as always, especially in the chaos. She continues to act as the moral compass, even stopping the male lead from going too far.Male Lead:Completely in control this episode. Strategic, powerful, and emotionally grounded — his growth really shows in how he handles both the fight and the aftermath.Qi Min:Tragic but dangerous. His obsession reaches its peak here, and his final actions are both confusing and revealing of how twisted his love really was.Prime Minister:Finally losing his grip. Even in defeat, he’s still layered — not just a villain, but part of a much bigger story.Emperor & Grand Tutor:Both exposed. One powerless and afraid, the other facing the consequences of his choices far too late.āø»Final ThoughtsThis episode really blurs the line between villain and victim. It wraps up major conflicts while opening the door to even bigger revelations. I’m equal parts satisfied and curious about what’s still to come.āø»Favourite MomentQi Min letting go at the last moment — tragic, confusing, and unforgettable.āø»Trope Check • Truth from the past revealed • Villain downfall • Sacrificial moment (arrow scene) • Obsessive love • Last-minute mercy • Power struggle / coup • Emotional confrontation on a ledge

šŸ„€ A Heart That Won’t Catch a Break

First ImpressionI’m crying again. This drama really knows how to pull on the heartstrings.Episode ThoughtsThe emotional fallout continues as the FL is still desperately searching for her little sister. Along the way she’s rescuing children who are being trafficked, but the toll it’s taking on her is becoming obvious. Her judgement slips when she mistakes a father and daughter for traffickers, showing just how deeply the tragedy has shaken her.Feeling responsible for her mistake, she accepts punishment rather than letting Captain Li intervene, even though he easily could have gotten her out of it. Captain Li is clearly crushing hard on her now, though she remains completely oblivious. When she finally gets a lead on her sister, she rushes off without saying goodbye. At the same time Captain Li receives orders from his grandfather and must leave to join the army. He’s devastated that he might miss her, even leaving two men behind in case she returns. There’s something about the intensity of his feelings that makes me wonder if they could turn darker if things don’t go his way.Meanwhile Qin Min continues to prove he has absolutely no redeeming qualities. He seems to enjoy tormenting everyone around him and his obsession with control is disturbing. Despite having a strong claim to the throne, he doesn’t appear to have many allies and relies more on fear than loyalty. The political plot thickens when General Hu meets with the ML. Together they strategise and reveal an important truth: the FL’s sister is alive and currently in the hands of Sui Yuanhuai, who believes she is the ML’s daughter. Even more heartbreaking is the revelation that the FL’s parents likely took their own lives to protect their daughters after General Hu discovered them, fearing the Prime Minister would send men after them.As if things weren’t already cruel enough for the FL, she gets caught up in yet another incident when a spy being chased ends up in her camp. She deals with the situation… only to end up taken into custody herself. And then comes the moment I nearly forgot — the ML receives a package from the FL containing divorce papers. Which is ironic considering he had already planned to leave her anyway, yet he’s still furious about it. The man protests far too much.At this point it genuinely feels like the FL cannot catch a break.Character NotesFemale Lead:She continues to carry the emotional weight of everything that has happened. Her determination to save her sister and protect others is admirable, but the trauma is clearly affecting her judgement.Male Lead:Still several steps ahead politically, quietly plotting strategy with General Hu. The contrast between his calculated mind and the FL’s emotional journey is becoming more noticeable.Captain Li:Our boy is down bad. His feelings are obvious now, but there’s a hint that this devotion could become complicated if things don’t go the way he hopes.Qin Min:Still irredeemably cruel. The fact that he terrorised his own child says everything about the kind of man he is.Final ThoughtsAnother emotionally heavy episode that deepens both the personal tragedy and the political intrigue. The revelations about the FL’s family and her sister raise the stakes even higher. I’m both excited and terrified to see what happens next.Favourite MomentThe strategy meeting between ML and General Hu, where we finally learn the truth about the FL’s sister and her parents.Trope Check • Searching for a lost sibling • Political scheming • Devoted second male lead • Hidden identities and secret lineage • Divorce papers / separation trope • Heroine who refuses to give up

Lantern Festival Chaos & Drunken Confessions

Episode ThoughtsEpisode 14 starts with a very relatable situation — the FL gets a little drunk… okay, very drunk during the New Year celebrations. In her drunken state she ends up having a sweet and vulnerable moment with the ML. She rambles about how if you want a tiger cub you have to go into the tiger’s den first — her very roundabout way of saying she wants to get closer to him. It’s funny, adorable, and a little heartbreaking because she already believes he’ll eventually leave. They almost kiss again… but the moment is ruined when she passes out right before it happens. It’s pretty obvious by now that the ML has feelings for her too, but he’s still keeping his identity hidden while quietly plotting things in the background.Meanwhile Manager Yu brings her son over to celebrate New Year with the FL’s family. The kids head out to play in the snow but things take a slightly suspicious turn when a strange woman starts asking too many questions about Manager Yu’s son.Not long after, the mysterious man — Qi Min — confirms that the boy is actually his son.Which opens up even more questions.Manager Yu doesn’t seem to recognise him, and Qi Min makes the ominous comment that they can’t leave anyway, suggesting something much bigger is going on behind the scenes. He also seems very interested in building a relationship with the ML, possibly as part of his ambition to eventually become Emperor. And let’s just say… he kills people a little too easily. The episode then shifts into the Lantern Festival, giving us some lighter and really cute family moments with the FL, ML and little sister enjoying the festival together.Unfortunately the peaceful moment doesn’t last long. The FL’s ex-fiancĆ© and his new woman show up and start causing trouble again. The ex still believes the FL has feelings for him which is honestly ridiculous considering the ML is standing right there.Thankfully the FL shuts him down with a satisfying verbal slap. And when the situation escalates, she and the ML even give him a small beating — which was extremely satisfying to watch.Back at court, things continue to move quietly in the background.General Hu has apparently been thrown into prison by a shady official, though the details are still a little unclear. Meanwhile the Royal Princess and Captain Li (Lord Li) both want absolutely nothing to do with the blind date being forced on them, so they come to an agreement to deal with the situation together. The episode ends on a more serious note. The headmaster arrives to warn the ML that the situation at court has worsened and he will soon need to return to his true identity. The ML agrees. But first he asks for three more days to stay with the FL and enjoy the festival together. And somehow that small request makes the looming goodbye feel even more painful.Favourite MomentThe FL drunkenly trying to confess her feelings to the ML.Trope Check • Drunk confession trope • Almost kiss interruption • Hidden identity ML • Festival romance scenes • Trash ex-fiancĆ© humiliation • Political intrigue building

Calligraphy, Secrets & Missing Children

First ImpressionThis episode is jam packed: clever business ideas, gossip getting shut down, mysterious men, missing children, and a hilarious fake husband situation.🪷Episode ThoughtsEpisode 12 opens with Manager Yu once again proving she’s incredibly business savvy. She suggests adding calligraphy to the FL’s meat packaging, which unexpectedly turns the ML into a bit of a local celebrity.🪷Suddenly ladies and even scholars are showing up just to admire and collect his beautiful calligraphy. Who knew the butcher shop would become the most cultured place in town?🪷We also get a very satisfying moment when the ex-fiancé’s mother gets a well deserved verbal slap down. She simply cannot stop gossiping.🪷Unfortunately for her, the mysterious man overhears her talking badly and immediately orders someone to warn her about her behaviour.🪷Honestly… priceless.🪷Manager Yu then finds herself in real trouble when a drunk customer tries to attack her. Thankfully the mysterious man appears and rescues her.🪷But instead of relief, Manager Yu looks uneasy around him.🪷Which raises even more questions.🪷It looks like he could be the father of her son, but their relationship is clearly complicated. Manager Yu doesn’t seem comfortable or safe around him.🪷The mention of the Prince’s Mansion also makes things even stranger. If the boy is connected to the prince, that would make him royal.🪷So who exactly is this man?🪷Meanwhile the little boy and the FL’s little sister quickly become friends while playing together. Their innocent fun quickly turns into panic when both children suddenly disappear.🪷Both Manager Yu and the FL are terrified.🪷Manager Yu’s reaction is particularly telling. She’s incredibly harsh with her son when they’re looking for him, which shows just how deep her fear runs. Whatever happened in her past clearly left serious scars.🪷Elsewhere the ML’s quiet plotting begins to bear fruit when soldiers arrive looking to purchase grain. It seems the plans he’s been putting together are moving faster than expected.🪷The episode ends with a surprisingly funny moment.🪷Manager Yu admits she’s afraid of the mysterious man and asks the FL if she can borrow her husband — the ML — to pretend to be her husband to help deal with the situation.🪷Honestly… I did not see that coming.🪷But I’m definitely curious to see how that plays out.🪷Favourite MomentML unintentionally becoming popular because everyone wants his calligraphy.🪷Trope Check • Business genius female characters • Hidden identity mystery man • Protective ML • Missing children panic • Fake husband trope • Political intrigue building

Rumours, Lies & A Shard at the Throat

Episode ThoughtsThis episode really shows how cruel rumours can be.🪷The village gossip mill goes into full force against the FL. People whisper, judge, and even throw water at her. She can’t exactly fight the whole village, so she just bites her lip and endures it.🪷Things escalate when a particularly nasty granny storms over demanding an apology because her grandson lost his front teeth after causing trouble. The woman clearly enjoys bullying the FL, pushing the situation as far as she can.🪷Thankfully karma comes knocking… although not quite naturally. As the granny storms off she trips on her way out — courtesy of the ML getting a little revenge for his girls.🪷Honestly, deserved.🪷With tensions rising, the FL thinks it would be best for the ML to leave before things get worse for him. But their heart-to-heart conversation reveals something important: neither of them really wants to be apart anymore.🪷Little by little, these two are falling for each other.🪷Meanwhile in court, the political drama continues. The Prime Minister and the Grand Tutor are arguing like an old married couple, and it becomes clear that the case from 16 years ago is far from resolved.🪷The Prime Minister receives the letter from General He and claims the FL’s father was a traitor.🪷Personally? I’m not buying it.🪷We still haven’t seen enough evidence to believe that version of events.🪷Lord Li returns and tells the FL that her parents’ murder case has been closed, blaming bandits and rumours. It feels suspiciously convenient.🪷Even the ML clearly doesn’t believe it.🪷Because in the shadows he basically calls bullshit.🪷The FL decides to move forward and focus on rebuilding her life. She opens her new shop and begins working closely with Manager Yu, which feels like the start of something positive.🪷But Manager Yu senses something watching them.🪷Someone lurking.🪷Friend… or foe?🪷The episode ends on a tense note when Lord Li and the ML finally sit down together. Both men are clearly trying to read the other’s intentions.🪷The scene ends with the ML holding a broken shard to Lord Li’s neck.🪷Trust is definitely in short supply.🪷Favourite MomentML subtly tripping the bullying granny. Petty justice but completely deserved.🪷Trope Check • Gossip ruining reputations • Protective ML • Slow burn romance • Political intrigue • Hidden enemies • Trust no one

Fate Buried Beneath the Snow ā„ļø

First of all, can we just take a moment to appreciate the opening credits? Absolutely beautiful. Chef’s kiss.🐷The episode is well paced and gives us an early glimpse into both the FL and ML’s pasts. Our female lead is introduced in a way that immediately shows how strong and capable she is. She’s the daughter of a butcher, and the very first scene shows her slaughtering a pig — a stark but effective way to establish her resilience. After her parents were killed by bandits, she’s been left to care for her baby sister alone and is barely managing to get by. Despite the gossip and judgment from those around her, she keeps pushing forward.🐷 On her way home she quite literally stumbles across the injured male lead, who is buried under the snow and clearly hiding some dangerous secrets.🐷 Fate seems to intervene when she takes it as a sign from her late mother that she should save him. Watching her drag him home really highlights just how strong she is. Thankfully her neighbours help her, otherwise the poor ML might not have survived. There’s also a funny and oddly endearing moment where she nearly accidentally kills him by giving him too much medicine.🐷 Now that she has rescued him, she feels responsible for him — which means she has to somehow find the money to pay for his treatment. It’s heartbreaking to see her forced to pawn her mother’s hairpin just to afford the medicine.🐷We’re also introduced to her infuriating ex-fiancĆ©, who had absolutely no problem accepting financial support from her family while studying. Now that she’s an orphan, however, he’s eager to break off their betrothal. His arrogance (and his mother’s attitude) already makes them very easy to dislike.🐷Meanwhile, the glimpses we see of the ML suggest a much bigger story unfolding. He appears to be the sole survivor of a battle, and there are hints of secret messages, soldiers searching for survivors, and political intrigue. This ultimately forces the FL to hide him in the pig pen to keep him safe.🐷For a first episode, this does a great job setting up the characters and the stakes. Our FL is already incredibly easy to root for, and the mystery surrounding the ML makes me curious to see where the story goes next.

Truth Buried Beneath the Lantern Light

Episode 1 of Unveil: Jadewind comes charging out of the gate like a horse race—no slow burn, no careful peeling back of layers. From the opening moments, we’re thrown straight into Li Pei Yi’s past. She’s the sole survivor of a massacre after her father supposedly went mad and killed everyone. That explanation never sat right with her—she knows her father’s character too well—so it’s clear there’s something far more sinister at play.Because of this unresolved trauma, Li Pei Yi throws herself into her work, building a reputation for solving crimes. She’s driven, emotionally guarded, and very much a lone wolf. The central whodunnit kicks off with a political marriage alliance: Princess Huai Si, a low-ranking princess, is set to marry, but during the Lantern Festival she’s murdered. Li Pei Yi is devastated—she was close to the princess—and becomes determined to uncover the truth behind her death. Her investigation brings her into contact with Xiao Huai Jin, an imperial astronomer. The stars have already delivered their warning, and the prophecy has come to fruition. Charged by the emperor to uncover the truth, he’s bound by silence and unable to reveal what he knows, adding an intriguing layer of tension and mystery to his role. Both Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue present strong visuals—cold, distant, and restrained. At this stage, the drama doesn’t appear to be leaning into romance, instead focusing squarely on its murder mystery and political intrigue. While the episode didn’t completely hook me from the very first minute, it is interesting. The groundwork has been laid well, the mystery has potential, and Episode 1 does enough to make me curious about what’s really hidden behind the stars—and the past.

Free — healing, closure, and moving forward

Episode 12 feels like a quiet exhale — a fitting and gentle way to close out the drama. We see the Gold Boys on tour, learning how to move forward as a group without Kang Woo-seong. Thanks to his habit of recording everything, they’re able to transform his legacy into music, and it’s genuinely moving to watch them continue together. There’s a sense of freedom and happiness that wasn’t there before.Se-na is an absolute delight in this episode, fully embracing her fangirl side. The moments where she playfully pushes Ra-ik away while battling to get her hands on his merchandise are both hilarious and endearing — especially when he casually offers to get her some and she immediately refuses. It’s funny, soft, and oddly intimate all at once.Their romance feels deeply bonded now, grounded in communication and mutual understanding, and it really shines here. While Ra-ik is on tour, Se-na works on securing a retrial for her father to prove his innocence. I do wish we’d seen more of this storyline, as it’s resolved very quickly, but it still reinforces how far she’s come and what she continues to fight for.Everything is neatly tied up by the end. The ex-girlfriend is arrested and charged, but ultimately placed in a mental institution due to her instability — a resolution that feels more tragic than triumphant. As for the prosecutor, his arc comes full circle. He’s made a name for himself, but chooses to step away from ambition to move somewhere regional and closer to his mother, who’s in a nursing home. It’s a surprisingly tender choice, and a reminder that success doesn’t always mean climbing higher.🌱 Final thought: Idol I ends not by shouting its message, but by letting its characters finally breathe — and that quiet freedom is what makes the ending work.

And the murderer is… dots connect and the net finally closes

Episode 11 delivers the payoff — the net is closing in and the dots finally start connecting. Choi Jae Hui wakes up after his accident, and the very first person he asks about is Ra-ik’s ex-girlfriend. That alone is our first major clue that something about her has been off this entire time. Then the evidence starts stacking up fast: an earring appears at the scene (and of course it happens to be hers), there’s security footage placing her in the garden, and the final nail in the coffin is that Kang Woo-seong had a habit of recording everything — including his own murder. That reveal hit hard. And yes… it confirms that the phone we saw earlier was the missing phone after all.I also have to give credit where it’s due: the prosecutor actually does a full 180 here. Instead of blindly chasing career points and repeating his father’s mistakes, he pivots toward the truth. Growth! We love to see it.The ex-girlfriend is arrested and charged, and her face-to-face with Ra-ik is honestly chilling. She blames him — if he hadn’t left, if he hadn’t smiled — but the reality is she’s missing a few marbles and has been living in her own warped version of events. The difference now is that Ra-ik doesn’t absorb that guilt the way he might have before. In a healthier relationship, with real communication and care, he’s finally able to recognise what love actually looks like… and what it doesn’t.

Soft feelings, hard consequences

Episode 10 is I LIKE YOU!… and honestly, I like all of you right now. Se-na is walking around on a cloud after Ra-ik admits he likes her, but she’s still not fully sure what her own feelings are — mostly because she’s spent so long shutting herself off from caring (or at least pretending she has). Then the real ugliness hits. A reporter drops an article that puts Se-na directly in the crosshairs of angry fans — and let’s call it what it is: toxic fans. She’s left surrounded by a hostile mob, and even some of her colleagues act like it’s her job to ā€œhandleā€ being targeted. The lack of protection and empathy is infuriating.Ra-ik stepping in is the moment that changes everything. When a fan throws a lightstick at Se-na, he immediately protects her, and it triggers her right back into the trauma of her younger years. Instead of letting her drown in it, he takes her away so she can breathe, and reminds her she doesn’t have to face it alone. In that pocket of peace, she finally admits she’s been running from her past — and now, strengthened by Ra-ik’s presence, she’s ready to stop running and start fighting. And then our snarky prosecutor chooses that exact moment to be a complete menace and indict Ra-ik. But he messed with the wrong lawyer. Se-na is not backing down, and the ā€œlike father, like sonā€ energy is not a compliment. Watching her flip into battle mode was deeply satisfying. As the evidence gets revisited, the ex-girlfriend once again feels increasingly suspicious. She’s giving off unpredictable, unstable vibes, and having a rich father who clearly knows how to cover things up only makes her look more dangerous — whether she’s the killer or just part of something bigger. This episode makes me think the ā€œkillerā€ might not be one person acting alone, but a protected mess of power, privilege, and people willing to erase problems before they become scandals.

I LIKE YOU — truth revealed, feelings growing, and calm before the storm

Episode 9 gives us a big reveal, sweet moments, and somehow leaves me even more confused about who the murderer is. We finally learn what the CEO has been hiding, and it confirms what we’ve been sensing all along — the company was prepared to use Ra-ik as a cash cow while keeping expectations low for the other members. Ra-ik was clearly burning out, while the rest of the band were excited to actually make music again. The imbalance is glaring. We also get more clarity on Kang Woo-seong’s choices. In trying to protect everyone, he makes a desperate decision that ultimately blows up in his face. He verbally agrees to sign with another company, and it looks like he was blackmailed by them. With the CEO finding out, that instantly widens the suspect circle, because it’s the kind of information that threatens control, profit, and reputation. When Ra-ik confronts the CEO, the CEO claims he was ā€œprotectingā€ Ra-ik — and Ra-ik basically calls bullshit. Honestly? Good. It’s satisfying to see Ra-ik slowly start taking control of his own life instead of being managed like a product. The ex-girlfriend appears again, and I’m sorry, she is definitely not okay. At this point, I’m leaning toward her being involved — she feels unstable, especially when she doesn’t get her way. Whether that makes her the murderer or just another dangerous piece on the board, I’m not sure… but she’s giving major warning signs. On the softer side, we get a lot of sweet moments between Ra-ik and Se-na as they spend the day like ordinary passersby, enjoying simple things. These scenes are warm, grounding, and make it clear Ra-ik is slowly falling for her. It feels like a rare pocket of peace — which only makes it feel like the calm before the storm.Because Kwak Byeong Gyun isn’t letting this go. Not because he wants justice or to be a great prosecutor, but because his pride can’t handle being benched. If he continues down this path, it really does feel like he’s about to follow in his father’s footsteps — and that’s a terrifying thought. The more Ra-ik gains control, the more it feels like someone is going to escalate to take it from him — and the people driven by pride and power are starting to look the most dangerous.
