Honestly, rereading it, I realize this show is kinda bat sh*t insane...
If you want to be entertained for 45 mins by two cute boys fight for their love against the Villains of the Week, I highly recommend this show lol

These episodes are getting shorter since now I’m skipping nearly 1/4-1/3 show every time the 2nd couple shows up…(is there a clause in the actors contracts that they have to be Disney Channel bullies every time they share the screen with the leads?)

This show is a little rough by comparison to some of the other airing GMM shows, but there’s something charming and fresh about it that keeps pulling me back.

Both the leads back stories are literally trauma porn atp. It felt like they were trying to outdo each other in the Pity Olympics, yet it doesn’t really annoy me, because I’m just happy they found each other lol

I strongly disliked how the mom got white washed in this episode.
She is literally the worst parent in this show (in a long line of bad parenting).
Her neglect is a form of abuse imo. She just drops an all powerful magical book on Rin’s birthday, f’s off to Romania (?) with terrible cell service, and leaves Rin with an unexplained magical fate, a curse, in the care of her demented mother… ( bad mom and daughter...)

Her absence is so apparent that it pushes Rin to use ChatGPT for parenting advice and onto Magical forums to save a boy who COULD DIE because of his accidental curse (talk about traumatic) when she could’ve easily come home and helped him fix the curse. She’s just lucky Rin hasn’t been kidnapped by some online creep atp… and now we’re supposed to like her because she calls her son once in a blue moon? She didn't even know he moved into Khobfa's place for like 4 episodes...

My main issue with this show is pretty much everyone except the leads and Khobfa's grandma are INSUFFERABLE. It’s fine to create some neutral characters, but istg, the writers put all their energy into making every side character either annoying or downright villainous.

Khobfa’s insane, alcoholic uncle breaking up the leads shower time and then KritMochi rearing their ugly heads to challenge KhobafaRin in Battle of the Bands when they were CLEARLY trying to walk away without confrontation are just 2 events these characters have had to suffer IN JUST THIS EPISODE because they live in a world where EVERYONE IS TERRIBLE except them. I think that's their real curse...

Viewing this entirely from the one time Krit "tried" to break up with Rin, since that's the only physical evidence we viewers have, I find Krit's behavior and rationale bogus. Because who in their right mind publicly breaks up with someone on their birthday and then immediately live streams to the entire campus, hey, I've been cheating on my boyfriend for 2 months. Please support our relationship! Yuck! And then based on the preview, he has the balls to tell Rin off and accuse him of trying to get back with him/make him jealous? Get off your high horse!
Krit's also the first one to break the friendship up by asking Rin out. So he's been proven to be a selfish person.
I feel like he's actually the inconsiderate person in the relationship and Rin is the victim (even the pen he lends to Rin came from someone else... does this dude do anything on his own? And buying a birthday cake for your bf of 2-3 years is bare minimum imo. I do that for my friends rn)!
I find it really hard to believe that Rin was the problem in this relationship.
Because he's shown he's nothing if not considerate.
Even though Rin accidentally cursed Khobfa, there are moments when he cares for him that genuinely feel like they come from a genuine place--I'm not even sure if I would think about all the things Rin did for Khobfa after he sprained his ankle. We've seen how he cares for his friends, how he cared for Krit... I look forward to seeing how this show will try to explain their failed relationship from Krit's perspective. If I even care enough not to skip the secondary couples' scenes.

And don't even get me started about Mochi...

Agreed with everything everyone else already said about Sun crying, plus, his mom died that day. Even without the guilt, imagine you're mom dies, you have the funeral alone that morning, and you still have to clock in at night because you've got the loan sharks hounding you for money over your mom's failed cancer treatment, and then to top it all off, your boss berates you for being late to work 😭 I would've walked into traffic right then and there lol As for Jay, he's a twisted lil psycho so ofc Sun's tears turned him on 😂

Now I just have to win the lottery and produce this… honestly, when they were alive, I didn’t much like the second pairing… after they died, I realized they brought the spice and excitement to show 😭

Honestly, the that might be his best option. Maybe they just wander around the jianghu, protecting the innocent and repaying for the bad karma in their first 2 lives. Both of them are pretty competent fighters. They drink wine, wander, wax poetry beneath blossoms, and exploring the world and vibing. Maybe we petition for special episodes haha

Do you write? Because I would honestly read Yin Zhou’s second chance, in which he leaves Yin Qi and Pei Yanzhi tf alone, tells his mom to take a hike, cleans up his uncle’s fraction himself, romances his soul mate, and becomes the Crown Prince he was destined to be if only he hadn’t been so blinded by spite and power. (And maybe he succeeds in killing dad, because he was the true villain of the show lol)

Yeah, rebirth is definitely looser in period dramas now, whereas transmigration is still strict. So dramas like Si Jin, The Legend of the Female General, The Princess Royal, etc. fly now, but unfortunately, The Double aired before that took effect...oh well… I wish we could get full transmigration long form dramas, but I’ll settle for dramas like Romance on the Farm or Love Game in Eastern Fantasy has to be explained away as a dream, video game, for now.

I would also be down for Yin Zhou to get a second chance too! Couldn’t Yin Qi have let him borrow the wolf’s fang haha

Ruyi is the best. The perfect combination of qualified and deadly, kind and juducious, but also innocent and awkward. They stayed equal till the end! Jiang Li definitely got the short end of the stick, but I think the dad finally understood his wrongs and lived with them till the day he died from the guilt. Since we don’t know for sure if there’s an afterlife, I think that’s the best we can hope for 😞I think after they caught the stepmom, the drama really started unraveling, but it made it up for me when Xue Fangfei confronted her ex-husband. But what happened with Jiang Li is I think that’s why I prefer rebirth dramas, like the Blossom, but I understand The Double was created during that weird rebirth censorship phase…

Omg! I didn’t notice Ruyi there; she’s so OP haha Honestly, idgaf. I’m going to live in illusion that Ruyi and Yuanzhou survive because they’re too badass to die and really do have 2 kids in the mountains… Yeah, at some point, I honestly stopped crying because I was too emotionally numb from it all. Or The Double? That open ending made me want to tear my hair out!

I love that drama. I was just rewatching it! I think I’m still traumatized by A Journey to Love. They make you believe the main couple is alive, but then it turns out the final surviving character was just experiencing a mirage while dying…that was just cruel of the writers…

The time skip + the streets were totally empty set off my alarm bells. There’s always a time skip, a series of flashbacks, looking out over a familiar scenery, amid falling blossoms and/or snow… it was perfectly set up to leave Pei Yanzhi’s fate in Japan open ended… but I’ve decided the reactions are too legit to be a dream lol (gotta keep telling myself that haha)

I hate that I've watched so many Chinese dramas that my first thought when Pei Yanzhi showed up at the bridge was: Is Yin Qi experiencing an illusion?
After watching the ending twice, I choose to believe that they're reunited and he was cured of his illness and Yin Qi was surprised and crying tears of joy. But I genuinely hate that my mind is trained by the trauma of watching Cdrama open endings to assume the worst...

I’m so glad I waited to binge… I feel like I’m already going crazy and it’s only 2 more days left lol
