I love Zhou Mu Nan's books. Four of his novels got donghua adaptation, and 3 of his novels - drama adaptation. Well, maybe partly because he is open to cooperation. I know that some writers do not like the idea of having their books adapted, or just ask for too much money. Anyway...
I watched this donghua, then found the novel, it's a pity, only a few chapters translated yet, and now we have drama adaptation as well... He he.
Hmm... Well... I quickly lost interest in this. I'm just not a fan of harems, to be honest. Whether it's a guy surrounded by hot girls or a girl surrounded by hot dudes, it just doesn't appeal to me. Some people may like it, but for me, it's just cringe. Even though they supposedly toned down the reverse-harem thing compared to the novel as there is no official reverse-harem tag, and she ends up with one guy, it still remains a significant part of the story. A girl with complicated relationships with multiple guys, all of whom are in love with her etc. And she kinda slept with some of them in her previous life, if I got it right... Nah... know there are plenty of people out there who enjoy this kind of stuff... But not me. And the political plot is not really that good, imo.
Good actors, interesting story, not at all interested in the romance part. Idk, I don't have much to say. Was not overly impressed, but enjoyed the ride.
I am not sure why so many people talk about their age difference. Why do you care? I mean, they are actors. It's their job, man. It's not like they're supposed to be dating in real life or anything. They just play their role, they might have a good relationship on set as colleagues, but most actors never see each other again after their work is done. Anyway, nice drama.
Hmm, let me put it this way... I had certain expectations at first, but what I ended up with... I'm not entirely sure. Well, I enjoyed it to a certain degree. But it wasn't anything special, that's for sure. 7/10
Not sure. You may have to wait a while. It might take some time for the free option to appear. In my opinion, though, WeTV isn't that expensive. You can even get a subscription for half the price on certain websites. So, yeah...
It's kinda... idk, the actors are great and the characters are mostly likeable, but... Well, first of all I expected more comedy, it's funny at times, but definitely not "you'll laugh so much that the chances of choking and dying are high" as someone said in the review. And secondly, the story is a bit inconsistent and draggy. I don't have that feeling where you are watching and can't stop, where you constantly want to know "what's going to happen next". To be honest, I expected more.
I like it, I guess. The story is captivating (although somewhat predictable), the characters are intriguing, and their chemistry is great. However, there are a few minor details that I find a bit questionable. I am also not a fan of the family drama that is present here, to some extent. So, I wouldn't call it perfect, but overall, it's a very good drama.
Somehow I love it, which is unexpected because I was very sceptical. Quite unique drama. Still watching, though,…
So... It may not be a masterpiece and I probably won't watch this drama again, but I enjoyed the story. There were very few typical tropes and plenty of intriguing ideas. The characters were decent, the main couple - their chemistry was okay, not sure why people say there was no chemistry. I really liked by the way how they implemented the concept of forbidden love here. Overall, I would recommend it. Nice one time watch. Honestly, I found it more enjoyable than a lot of the overrated Korean dramas out there.
People say it all seems artificial, but it's all right with me. True, the story is pretty basic, nothing unique, though I'm still watching, but so far it's fun and quite well done. Idk, I like it, even the first episode that so many complained about.
Okay, so I'm still watching, but so far it's very funny. The only thing I don't really like is the romance, it feels unnecessary to me. Well, that's probably because I am just not in a right mood for any kind of romance at the moment. Anyway, it's good.
Okay, great characters played by great actors, decent story, sometimes though it dragged on a bit tbh. But well, it's normal for chinese dramas, so whatever. I can forgive all of that for a truly happy, beautiful ending. Haha. Cause I freaking hate tragic endings in xianxia, they tend to be tragic just for the sake of it.
I’m at ep 25 and I still can’t see any chemistry between the ML and FL. The ML has more chemistry with Ah…
I'm pretty sure that's the problem with the original source. I mean, they adapted from the manhua. I never read it, but I watched anime based on the manhua, same problem. They created, imo, perfect chemistry between him and Ah Lan in donghua, while there was nothing interesting about Bai Cai and everything was kinda based on the fact that she is supposedly his wife or whatever. No chemistry between her and MC, some weird romance out of nowhere, frustrating naivety and somehow even a weird love triangle! Another dude just falls in love also for no reason, and he is a god of course. They just gave her some powers later on to make her not completely useless. I mean, in general the story isn't that bad, but this romance part is some of the most frustrating and ridiculous shit I've ever seen lol.
I watched this donghua, then found the novel, it's a pity, only a few chapters translated yet, and now we have drama adaptation as well... He he.
By the way, the two main actors got married... kinda unexpected lol.
Some cases are kinda stupid though...
