Doctor male lead, traditional medicine. For some reason, I kinda like it when the main character in the ancient setting story is a doctor. But I can't remember seeing / reading even one decently executed story with such a main character, lol. Maybe I am just unlucky... Also, no romance (or at least it will not be prevalent) which is a big plus for me. I love a well done romance, but I prefer it to be a subplot, not the main theme... Hoping for the best :)
I think she is not, actually. I read on some Chinese forum that Zhou Mu Nan had live stream on his Weibo where he mentioned, among other things, that Bai Hehuai is not really dead and that he might consider giving them both a HE in his future novels.
I love Zhou Mu Nan's books. Four of his novels got donghua adaptation, and 3 of his novels - drama adaptation. Well, maybe partly because he is open to cooperation. I know that some writers do not like the idea of having their books adapted, or just ask for too much money. Anyway...
I watched this donghua, then found the novel, it's a pity, only a few chapters translated yet, and now we have drama adaptation as well... He he.
Hmm... Well... I quickly lost interest in this. I'm just not a fan of harems, to be honest. Whether it's a guy surrounded by hot girls or a girl surrounded by hot dudes, it just doesn't appeal to me. Some people may like it, but for me, it's just cringe. Even though they supposedly toned down the reverse-harem thing compared to the novel as there is no official reverse-harem tag, and she ends up with one guy, it still remains a significant part of the story. A girl with complicated relationships with multiple guys, all of whom are in love with her etc. And she kinda slept with some of them in her previous life, if I got it right... Nah... know there are plenty of people out there who enjoy this kind of stuff... But not me. And the political plot is not really that good, imo.
Good actors, interesting story, not at all interested in the romance part. Idk, I don't have much to say. Was not overly impressed, but enjoyed the ride.
I am not sure why so many people talk about their age difference. Why do you care? I mean, they are actors. It's their job, man. It's not like they're supposed to be dating in real life or anything. They just play their role, they might have a good relationship on set as colleagues, but most actors never see each other again after their work is done. Anyway, nice drama.
Hmm, let me put it this way... I had certain expectations at first, but what I ended up with... I'm not entirely sure. Well, I enjoyed it to a certain degree. But it wasn't anything special, that's for sure. 7/10
Not sure. You may have to wait a while. It might take some time for the free option to appear. In my opinion, though, WeTV isn't that expensive. You can even get a subscription for half the price on certain websites. So, yeah...
It's kinda... idk, the actors are great and the characters are mostly likeable, but... Well, first of all I expected more comedy, it's funny at times, but definitely not "you'll laugh so much that the chances of choking and dying are high" as someone said in the review. And secondly, the story is a bit inconsistent and draggy. I don't have that feeling where you are watching and can't stop, where you constantly want to know "what's going to happen next". To be honest, I expected more.
I like it, I guess. The story is captivating (although somewhat predictable), the characters are intriguing, and their chemistry is great. However, there are a few minor details that I find a bit questionable. I am also not a fan of the family drama that is present here, to some extent. So, I wouldn't call it perfect, but overall, it's a very good drama.

By the way, the two main actors got married... kinda unexpected lol.
