i see what you're trying to say. my guess is that it's more to do with viewers age rather than culture.
like is it really common for lads to play roles which don't fit their age? other than LGL in my heroic huband(s) nothing else springs to mind. to me his character felt stupider because for real the lad looks older than his age and is playing someone 19 years younger. it looks obvious.
where lads get no quarter in general is when they play romantic MLs. like, there are plenty of comments to the tune of "oh ML is too old. cant watch". poor Lin Geng Xin, Liu Guan Lin & Wallace. they were called too old even when their opposites were older than them 😄. also, i doubt that tags here "age gap" and "real age gap" were introduced because guys needed that feature. so there are quite a few people (not ecessarily chinese) who are unable to handle a mature looking man in certain roles. and it's fair enough.
chinese people are definitely more adept at guessing other chinese people's age. maybe to us some actress may look bubbly, girlish and outgoing. while to "chinese viewers of particular segment" she is sticking out like the "undercover journalist in not another teen movie". and because that segment is large and active it might seem like everyone unapologetically piles on.
again it's just my guess there's no data to back it up.
The 3 great demons dying so easily wasn't even as ridiculous as Tan'er's soul going into Pianpian's body(like…
well from the time travel bit we saw that those great demons weren't that great at all. Pianpian at this stage essentially had the power of Dreamshard Deity and the general had pretty powerful cultivation. So it took little effort to take down the first guy, and power up. Then the others weren't that much of a threat. So yeah i thought it was alright what's the point of dragging it out.
Tan'er soul going into Pianpian's body. I chuckled too. A bit of unwarranted cruelty.
yeah that's what i thought initially.but it's when their possible relationship comes to the forefront as well.…
i'd say he'll have to pry a little into why her behaviour changed so much :D but in fairness very interesting twist. i have vague recollection of some vertical drama which took similar approach so it's probably not new but if they decide to reboot it as some mini, yeah i'll watch it.

well, she is on the wrong side of 30s. looks like in early 20s yet her voice betrays her age and could create incongruity. that i would consider a valid point. however,it's possible to get used to it.
but, in a number of scenes & episodes her lines were louder than everyone else's and louder than bgm (regardless of her position in the scene). that's just bad.
so if sound engineering mistakes were made which also happened to emphasize her age/timbre incongruity how does that translate to having a "narrow view of women"?
is no one going to talk about the songs in this drama ?I’m literally just tearing up everytimeit’s just so…
i seriously like 2 tracks there. there's one tune i think is very similar to the legend of fu yao i actually spent a bit of time looking for it now but it's probably not exactly the same.
Wait. I guess I understand why Xiao Yao return to THAT day. Oh, my ... I've got goosebumps. If they never untie…
yeah that's what i thought initially.but it's when their possible relationship comes to the forefront as well. her reaction is priceless. like the scene is in e2, and it's just triggered me to re-imagine how she would behave now,. very nice.
i enjoyed it. visually it's excellent. loved how they weaved different stories. yeah Dali's turn from silly NPC i find irritating but it's grand overall.
Could be suffering from HMH overdose now as well. I hope he has nothing else coming out for the next few months :D
i think the ending was pretty good. when you said open ended i thought it's going to be a twinkle of light or just surprised starry eyes. but it was a good move.
Someone comment and give me a reason to continue this one 🥲I am not sure what is going on but I have been struggling…
The dubbing is terrible in a few episodes. But middle (12-30) is mostly fine. It gets bad in places but not as prominent later. I'm on e36 so don't know if it gets bad again.
