I could never hate Mofang cause I knew about his role /relationship status in the novel. My only wish would’ve…
From Mofo's point of view maybe yes. But the aggregated point of view of the rest of the population of three realms says "nay! Get some chlorine and a sponge"

Beautiful aspect of Furong is that he doesn't have complexes. He just has too much love to give. Neither a single person would be able to handle it nor is it fair to everyone else he doesn't get around to 🤣 He is like "THE beautiful" in a "beautiful couple". Even if he holds a possessed pig I'd say 🤔 "hmm those two look great together" 😂 Mofo is just not his style. Also, Mofo doesn't reciprocate either so why would Furong bother to save him anyway.

No! He doesn't deserve Furong! Furong only liked him coz Mofo was playing hard to get. If it was not for a series of unfortunate events Furong wouldn't even fart in Mofo's general direction 😂
Yes one of the rare cases where the drama fills out the novel in some aspects ... well Mofang.. eh... they couldnt…
Ah I speed read the book a few times now.Mostly for informational purpose.. I just never had the opportunity to read it slowly and meld it with what's on screen.
In the novel he is much edgier. If his drama portrayal was intentional then my guess would be they made him so pitiful to avoid dwelling too much to make him a proper SML.
Finally had a chance to read the novel at a leisurely pace. Here I think the usual quib about the book vs screen being better just doesn't apply. They compliment each other very well. First of all the novel itself feels like a screen-script so it must've been very easy to align the two. Yeah there are some changes in drama but with just a tiny bit of imagination the two meld very well. In the drama they did well with internal dialogues to convey intentions but some bits were missed. Book helps out. For example her chicken-period came alive in a very different way but the fisherman's village bit (like the part why she had to kick XZ out of the house when she was exercising) mixed with Ch59 to me became something on completely different level. On the other hand in the novel, story often changes abruptly, the scenes which were added for humour felt "absent" and like no words can convey the entry of "the boys" (again in Ch59). So yeah, as far as I'm concerned definitely an exceptional case of novel almost being augmented subtitles for the drama. Definitely worth the read at a slow pace.
But I def prefer novel's portrayal of this character. In the drama he was made too sad and useless.
Yeah,my hatred seems irrational. But ...his portrayal .... is like a fly in my soup; like a pebble in my shoe;like the pea beneath my bed...
