I'm so happy for the wins of Namgoong Min and this drama! So well deserved! So glad this beautiful sageuk won over the many popular kdramas! I didn't even watch it from the beginning since I wasn't familiar with the cast, but the wonderful reviews and the fact that this appears to be a serious sageuk convinced me watching this. Best kdrama of 2023! Wish Ahn Eun Jin won too, but I'm still happy for her nomination.
Never heard of these dramas, where can they be watched?
For Queen Seon Deok, all the episodes are on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSBpEIZ7bUc&list=PLX-GyVHw0Fy1Qs3hT9Zz6Akm839tOIuwb), you just have to turn on CC for English subtitles. For The Princess' Man, I'm so annoyed there's no legal streaming platform that has it, but you can watch or download the episodes from myasiantv website here (https://myasiantv.ac/show/the-princess-man). Or if you have enough money, you can also buy the original DVD here (https://kpopstores.com/products/used-the-princess-man-dvd-13-disc-first-press?_pos=2&_sid=a6d3e4377&_ss=r). It's complete with a photobook of some pictures from the drama and a 2012 calendar featuring the drama's pictures. Queen Seon Deok is the breakthrough kdrama of Kim Nam Gil (best known recently for The Fiery Priest, Through the Darkness, Island, and Song of the Bandits). Some young popular actors today like Park Eun Bin (Extraordinary Woo), Nam Ji Hyun (Little Women), Shin Se Kyung (Captivating the King), and Kim Yoo Jung (My Demon) briefly appear in this drama too. The Princess's Man is the first important leading role of Moon Chae Won (female lead of Flower of Evil). Both these dramas are amazing. Here are their mydramalist pages: The Princess' Man (https://mydramalist.com/2591-the-princess-man), Queen Seon Deok (https://mydramalist.com/215-queen-seon-duk).
I'm so happy for the win of My Dearest and Namgoong Min. I was rooting for Ahn Eun Jin to win but at least Honey Lee is well deserving (she's a good sageuk actress).
Can someone recommend me another KDRAMA like this, I'm searching for something like "My DEAREST" ; "Red Sleeve"…
The Princess's Man Damo or The Legend of the Police Woman (https://mydramalist.com/1117-damo) - very sad love triangle, it's a very old kdrama. Empress Ki Queen Seon Deok - most interesting love interest does not appear til Episode 21 but his love story with the female lead is heartbreaking, meanwhile most of the drama has an interesting female lead and an equally interesting female fatale/rival, there's some battle of the brains between the two once our female lead gets an almost equal rank with the female fatale. Yi San - 2007 drama, same main characters as Red Sleeve Jumong Six Flying Dragons War of the Arrows - movie, focuses more on a brother saving his sister, but the sister has a love interest, you'll find this interesting since it is set at the same time period as My Dearest, same group of foreigners also attacked the Koreans and kidnapped some people. You can watch the older kdramas or movies at myasiantv website.
Yes, she said she's filming an omnibus movie. Meaning the movie has many main characters and storylines. I hope her storyline is good. She also said she's not sure when her movie with Kwon Sang Woo will be released but she hopes it to be the end of this year.
Nice try by SJK for a challenging role. The overall storyline is tight, romance started off quite ok but went…
hehas always been talented and has always challenged himself. he had an image of a cute boy for running man (2010) and sungkyunkwan scandal (2010), but his acting of serious roles like innocent man (2012), werewold boy (2012), and his important cameo in tree with deep roots (2011) made people think of him seriously as an actor. some of his long time fans actually didn't like that he chose descendants of the sun (2016) as a comeback project after his serious roles because they thought it wasn't a challenge to him.
This was an epic kdrama, a beautifully made sageuk. With this and The Red Sleeve from 2021, I love that Korea is again making these good heartfelt sageuks. I really enjoyed the story and I love the soundtrack. I hope both Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin wins Baeksang Awards for Baeksang 2024.
This was an epic kdrama, a beautifully made sageuk. With this and The Red Sleeve from 2021, I love that Korea is again making these good heartfelt sageuks, I was getting too tired with the Kpop-fan trendy sageuks (I do watch them if an actor I love is in them). I really enjoyed the story and I love the soundtrack. I hope both Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin wins Baeksang Awards for Baeksang 2024.
I wanna start this cause I receive so many recommandations to watch it, but I'm hesitating a little bit cz the…
I haven't watched the second one, but both Captivating the King and Under the Queen's Umbrella are good. Queen's Umbrella is not romance centric, it's more about a Queen dealing with her sons and the sons of her husband's concubines. You can see in Queen's Umbrella the male lead and second male lead from Lee Se Young's (Red Sleeve actress) time travel kdrama from last year Story of Park's Marriage Contract. I feel like your type of sageuk is something that involves intense romance, so I also suggest Empress Ki. It has 50 something episodes and from 2014, but it was popular internationally. It's a love triangle between a Korean girl, a Yuan China King, and a Korean King. It's romance combined with revenge and action themes. The Red Sleeve is based on a real love story of a real Korean king and his favorite concubine. There was also a 2007 drama called Yisan that includes their love story though it has some creative liberties (like female lead was also a painter), has 77 episodes, and has more story about how the male lead is as a prince and then king to his people. Not sure if you'll be interested to watch since it's too long and from 2007, but you can try searching the drama's trailer and music video of its theme song (showing the main couple) by searching this: "Yisan Promise".
