When I watch dramas that involve fighting for the throne or fighting to be a powerful figure in the government, I always wonder why people would want that given that these people usually don’t end up well. And being an emperor is very restrictive and you have to maintain a balance of power between different factions, keep multiple wives/consorts/concubines happy, etc.
(I’m simplifying things, but hopefully you understand my point.)

I’ve already decided that for this drama I want an ending similar to how “Are You the One” ended. Forget palace intrigues and Iive in a capital, it’s way safer and enjoyable to live somewhere away from all the scheming and NOT have your life in danger 😁

High rating is always good, but there are may great dramas that don’t even get a 9.0 rating due on MDL. As long as a drama is popular in China and is hit according to their own metrics, that’s all we can ask for these days — there are so many bot/troll accounts on MDL who mess with ratings, that I got used to many dramas dropping to below 8.0 in early days due to massive downvotes from antis/haters.

I can imagine the joy (😁) in all of our faces when the ending scene will be the white haired guy and the restaurant lady saying good night to their son… in the modern world! ☺️

I normally pride myself on keeping up with everything (other than remembering exact names 😳), but this drama kind of glosses over many things that other dramas would spend a bunch of time on (for better or for worse).

If we just look at dramas (TV shows), #1 is When Life Gives You Tangerines 🍊 (used to be 9.4 until very recently) and #2 is Twinkling Watermelon 🍉 (9.2). After that, there are only 9.1 rated dramas. So this would be #3 rated drama.

The only example I can think that’s a little similar to this couple is from Are You the One. FL not only managed to open a very successful business to support her idle husband, she also followed him to war, organized supporting camp and came up with a plan to defeat enemy forces. That FL and this FL are awesome 🥰
