The good thing about 12-episode dramas is that a breakup at the end (which almost always happens) is only half an episode or an episode long. So we don’t have multiple episodes where leads are broken up for no reason like used to happen with 16-20 episode dramas.

Kathryn explained it pretty well. So far (end of ep. 6), leads are more like supportive friends to each other. They are kind of too busy solving cases & dealing with some other matters to focus on love. But this is a good drama, that’s not really super scary or super gory. Even Hotel del Luna was scarier. This is a bit more fun and they have some over the top slow-mo moments to make fun of typical drama tropes.

The leads most definitely did NOT fall in love at first sight. Their first encounter was a fight between themselves.

“You Are My Lover, Friend” is maybe my favorite friends-to-lovers C-drama because they actually explain very well why the leads couldn’t start dating earlier. It’s also pretty light & humorous (there’s an overarching storyline in a background about some shady business but it’s not TFF-level heavy). The third couple in the show is probably my favorite third CP ever (they even have their own theme song) — they actually cast leading-caliber actor & actress for those roles.
And, oh, you will like the fact that pretty much everything is told in the present day with small flashbacks to their high school days.

I’m just kidding :) But there were definitely minute-based plans in early-2000s, maybe even mid-2000s.

“You Are My Lover, Friend”?

Not saying you are wrong, but the way they explain it in this drama is that it’s all about shares/value of the company. So the cousin can do whatever the heck she wants because she’s not involved in any of the business. But any reputational damage or rumors about FL will impact their business financially because FL oversees that business and is a public facing person.
Still, I agree the cousin got off way too easy! 😳

It’s definitely worth watching if you haven’t seen it yet and have time.
Have you watched “The Day of Becoming You” (2021)? It probably the funniest C-drama I can remember and both leads give great performances (they each kind of play dual roles due to body swapping).

Moonlight (2021; with Esther Yu) was very good. Three of the four main leads were later in “Love Game in the Eastern Fantasy” so that was like a reunion.

Almost all the time it’s trolls/haters who are masquerading as fans of Artist A to attack Artist B and cause fan wars. Similar thing happened when supposed Lusi fans attacked Esther. It’s honestly much better if we ignore the noise from C-entertainment and just focus on dramas themselves :)

3ML may end up like the 5th core character in WIFTY.

For real. And HYT is actually a pretty fitting actor for this character.

Very well said! Another important lesson was what FL’s brother told her afterwards — you aren’t always going to win / be the best, so need to accept losses. A lot of kids are the best in their high school, for example, and think they will have an easy time in college and be smartest people ever. Well, I’ve seen them get a hard reality check once they are in college / workplace — there’s almost always going to be someone who is smarter or better than you.

It’s not uncommon or unrealistic, unfortunately (in any country). Be it academics or sports, sometimes parents push their kids too hard and don’t accept anything other than first place/perfection. 🥺

I hope by the end they release a full video of all of his fantasies 🤣
