Could someone please explain why the ML refuses to reveal his identity to the FL on multiple occasions? Does the novel explain his thought process? Even after he saved her from falling off the cliff, he just lets her go. She’s most definitely not safer without him given that EVERYONE knows FL is his wife… except FL herself 🙄🤨
Hopefully the shoe continues to be as good! But many (majority?) of people probably haven’t rated it yet because it’s not finished. I always wait until the end, for example.
how y'all remember every characters name 😭 it's so hard for me with such heavy politics plot, when I come here…
I totally understand your pain! I just remember characters by their profession/title and don’t try to memorize everyone. So it’s — Restaurant Lady, Academy Guy, Princess Royal, Grand Tutor Li, Chacellor Wei, White Haired Guy, etc.
Some people get way too crazy about things and that’s why it’s hard to take MDL ratings too seriously. Inreally appreciate having people like you in the comments who can share feedback and recommendations — that’s how I found quite a few dramas to watch (especially older ones). It’s also important to realize people have different tastes — my good friend & I tease each other about Hotel Del Luna, for example (I love it; she — not so much).
I’m glad I watched TPR before checking the comments :) OG was actually much better than many people think (kind of a cross between WIFTY & TFF). I don’t care about equal screen time (not an issue for me), but I wish they had done something more to explain why ML went away and didn’t contact FL all that time. It was handled beautifully in TFF (both times) but it was a weak point of OG for me.
Apparently in the novel FL was 15 and ML was 20, but they aged them up a bit (18 & 23 probably).
Not sure if the comment was meant for me, but I do agree that FL is 18 in the drama because they referenced her age like that (2+16). However, in the novel she was apparently 15 because ML buys her a gift for her 16th birthday :)
Awesome cute family and village moments. However, I'm confused on the political aspect of it as in who is who…
There are various internal conflicts going on between different factions, but — at this point — in the court neither side can be trusted (Li or Wei). ML was more on Wei side (before drama began) because Chancellor Wei raised him, but nowadays that’s obviously gone wrong 😑
Those people are weird. And current episodes aren’t even truly slow burn — there’s enough going on to keep…
Haven’t watched that one yet. The only historical drama I rewatch is Are You the One. It’s my go-to drama when I need to restore my faith that good competent writing in C-dramas exists. I find it very frustrating that even high-budget dramas have sloppy writing or absurd storylines that make no sense and feature very tired annoying tropes 🙄
Objectively, how good is this drama? I haven't started watching yet, but the rating is so high I'm really considering…
It’s great so far, but I’d ignore the ratings for now since it’s only 1/3 complete. MDL ratings are only slightly more reliable then Viki ratings, so there are plenty of 8.x dramas that are awesome, but didn’t get enough popularity or were downvoted by antis/haters.
I'd like to offer some service information. The setting of this drama (official uniforms, dresses etc) is likely…
Thank you for the historical information. Like MariaB mentioned, we were told in the drama that 20 taels of silver was enough for a year or more of household expenses (for regular people, of course), so being rented out for 30 taels or “selling essays” for 20 was certainly very nice for a common household.
