Controversial, and I know fans will throw a temper tantrums but sometimes i think they shouldnt stick so close to the original book/manwha because it only leads to unfavourable comparisons. Its difficult for a drama to portray the story as well as it has been written and imagined.

Maybe improvise or change things up a bit so that people who have read the original book wont be bored.

I just finished the manhwa and i agree with both your observations.
I think its difficult for the drama to improve on the manwha which was so good - but compared to many other thai bls i think its doing okay - or pretty good so far.
I always feel that the acting and production in thai bls is subpar most of the time and the dramas come across as amateurish.

And yes, mc comes across more feminine here than in the manwha.

In the manhwa he was portrayed more masculine and tougher. I think they made him more feminine looking here. The use of twink was factual here. But maybe you are projecting? Maybe you have a problem with "twinks" and think that being called one is an insult? Or dont you understand the meaning of the word "twink"

If you like Taiwan/ Chinese dramas you will probably like this.
its worth watching an episode to figure out if you want to continue. I didnt think i would like it because of subject matter but it drew me in and its my current favourite. Also illness up to ep3 (watched up to there) is not the focus.
Script is good, its well produced, acted and the actors are hot.
But tastes vary.

I watch a lot of Thai dramas but they have become predictable and focused on cp actors rather than the story.

So its really refreshing to have a few Japanese bl dramas that are currently airing.
This one is particularly good. Sometimes Japanese bls can be slow as they focus on the emotions its not an issue if the script and dialogue is good. I like that these dramas are more mature.

Another one that has impressed me is "Lost to You" which is a Singapore drama. Its so well produced and acted and the story is making me "involved". I didnt think i would like it because of the subject matter but up to ep3 its not central to the plot.
There is something about Chinese/Taiwan dramas and when they get it right - they are top tier

There are lots of interesting articles and also if you ask AI/chatgpt etc they can give a good analysis. I also did that to try and understand and make sense of why i liked it because i know its a bit weird.

its like when straight men watch lipstick lesbians ( the glamourous hot types that dress up for men). Woman are no different if the men have the right looks. In bl its two good looking men - with the type of looks that woman find attractive. One man is more masculine looking and the other is more feminine looking representing the woman (the bottom).

i was also reluctant when i saw terminal brain cancer as well. So far it has had much of hospitals and the focus has no been about his illness - ie not a medical drama about a sick patient.

As a straight woman, I like men, and bls is about 2 good looking men so its even better. I can do maths. (The one complaint i have is that I would like the characters to behave like men do, rather than a teenagers version of how men behave in bl dramas).

The stories and characters would be written so differently if the target market was not women. Some of the gay men who read bls complain about the lack of realism - in that the characters in bls dont behave like males do. I think a lot of the gay audience like that they are not "tragic" stories as a lot of lgbt dramas tend to be. I dont understand why a straight man would watch bls but some may. I mean most straight men that i know dont really like romance as a genre, and then would prefer to watch porn. As a straight woman i dont watch gls (lesbian stories) as I dont see the appeal. Other straight woman or bisexual woman may enjoy them - its taste.

We are generalising. And there is nothing wrong with saying yaio is written for women, by women. Its enjoyed by many others but the target of bl is female.

100% agree with you. That is why we have a decline in the quality/substance of thai bls .

People rate for the cp /actors now so that is the focus - not the plot, not the script, not the acting, not the production. It sucks for all of us.

Im getting bored of most thai dramas produced by GMMtv - i find the obscure thai productions more interesting. I used to like thai dramas but the new and popular ones stick to a repeated formula nowdays - or just maybe the audience is younger, less sophisticated and it takes less to please them.

It deserves a higher rating, the acting, the story, the production are so much better than most bl.
What i like about it is that if feels like it has substance - unlike so many formulaic bls (pointing at gmmtv) .

I stumbled across this show by accident - its not that well known as are other bl thai GMMtv shows.
I always try and support shows that are not mainstream. Im glad I found it.

I have watched until ep3 and I am loving it.
The director and cameraman have done such a wonderful job of capturing the chemistry between the lead actors. Cast is good looking, and Ray is too pretty (as he is jealous) .

Another show that deserves attention and that is not well know is "Lost to You" from Singapore.
That story is so good, sad but uplifting. And the production and the acting are excellent. The camera work is gorgouse.
If you want something that has substance, and you are bored of the usual GMMtv fluff shows then you will probably enjoy it - especially if you like Taiwan or Chinese shows.

Another cute show that is not getting much attention is "Smile after Tears". Its cute and light.

i found it by accident because i was going through a friends watchlist. I added some of the shows they are watching. Otherwise I too would have been oblivious.

This series is so underrated.
So many people are missing out on a great story and acting. The cinematography is good as well.
The drama is fast becoming my favourite that i am currently watching.

Im enjoying the slow pace and the situationship or relationship as it is developing.
So far (seen up to ep7) the focus of the drama has been more on the circumstances and issues (external and internal) they are each dealing with in their own lives. The romantic side of the relationship is not the focus here.

If you are a gmm bl fan that wants fluffy cute romance than this is probably not for you. Its also not for you if you are expecting a plot that entertains you with twists and complications like other love interests, legal battles, exciting dramatic things happening.

I am enjoying the experience, the mood its created.
One complaint or wish. They had a bit of a nc scene in episode 2 (where they are remembering the event ) and that was hot. It would have been nice to have a few more of those encounters.
