Some thoughts:
-they tackled difficult subjects - and its refreshing to see something not gmmtv formula driven
- the story was not bad, but i should have been 8 episodes, and better written
- Ja is being panned for his acting. I think Ja acted competently. His acting was subtle, and he was able to convey emotions well.
-I think Ja is hot, very hot
-i gave it an 8 because its not gmm tv
- @BraveAppointment1 (a few posts further down) commented about somebody dividing this series into Acts One, Two, and Three. I agree and also with other comments BraveAppointment1 made.

A bit off topic but its refreshing to see that the Japanese actors are not "whitened" like the actors in Korean, Thai, and Chinese dramas. I kind of find it sad that natural skin colour is not valued or appreciated in a lot of asian dramas.
Japanese actors are gorgeous but more natural looking as the "imperfections" (not fitting the mould) make them more unique looking . They have their own faces.

Dont get me wrong I really appreciate the work of the plastic surgeons but sometimes so many actors in the others look too similar as if they all ran to the same plastic surgeons.

-i can understand why he went there - he gave up everything and lost everything. I dont think i could cross that line unless i was being directly threatened. I would want to do damage to the other party/ injure them but killing is extreme. It was also premeditated as not done in the heat of the moment.

A lot of people are calling it a bl. Its not, its a gay lgbt film. Its more realistic, its more gritty.
This explains why the ratings are so low - it did not please the gmm crowd

My thoughts
-beautiful, heart-breaking at moments
-actors were really good, they conveyed so much emotion
-its not as explicit like others are saying but everything is covered up
-cinematography is gorgeous

I absolutely agree with your interpretation. The ancient greeks has about 6/7 words for different types of love. This drama was not about romantic (eros) love - it may or may not have existed between them but it was not relevant or a focus. This story here was about pure unconditional /soul love (agapi / phillia) between two people.

The ambiguity about their relationship makes sense in this context. Makes it more interesting I think.

Netflix should not have put the lgbt tag.

I have also read some of the discussions, and your comments further up. One interesting explanation was that the drama lacked narrative coherence because Netflix may have decided to change/edit the original story and the final product that we got was different.

Or maybe this drama was about pure unconditional /soul love "agapi / phillia " between two people and the fleeting romantic love aspect was intentionally not meant to be a focus. It wasnt relevant for the story.
The tragedy here also kindoff served a purpose - the care/ sacrifice the other party made for the person they loved. Otherwise it would be easy to conclude tragedy = lgbt drama.


They should not have bothered with the lgbt tag.

S1 was toxic and messy and real
S2 was about childish drama over nothings and misunderstandings - and it was boring.

S2 regurgitated the gmmtv bl formula so they dont take risks in dramas -they are getting boring.

Its annoying that people have such low standards. It leads to bad quality as the- cp is the main criteria a drama is judged on.

Koreans are entitled to their opinions and the opinions vary. Some koreans are okay with the drama and its representation. Others may have issues and be extremely sensitive. I respect that.

But people are also entitled to have their opinions about how fiction should represent reality - should it be accurate. We are talking its about an imaginary world created in the author/writers mind, and they decide how to interpret that worlds reality, and the laws of nature it exists in.

Also we can have an opinion and make a judgment about how others react to something.
I dont know enough about the topic here to make a judgment but i always enjoy open debate, critism, and different opinions. And I dont like it when that is shut down.

I know right - Why cant we have a happy non explicit realistic drama featuring two good looking male actors.

The drama didnt focus on a gay relationship or issues particular to gay relationships. I felt it dealt with experiences , feelings, emotions and tragedies that we all may experience in life and relationships. Its not limited to "non straight people. "

Also I find that term "queer" too be too broad to have any particular meaning.
Saying gay or bi or trans has more meaning for me because i can try and understand a particular perspective. I use LGBT ( instead of queer) v BL, ,but LGBT is still such a broad term so I try to be more specific.

BL are romanticised gay relationships written for female audience (core target) - so they are not based on reality, they don't accurately represent gay experiences or how gay men actually behave (and which i think is unfortunate).

I would love it if BLs were more realistic and had a more accurate representation - and if LGBT gay dramas had more happy romances instead of tragedy.

Also going to give it a chance because i think the side stories and characters are interesting as well.
And its an easy watch ( although not easy on the ears )

I watched it late last night but was falling asleep and would get woken up by the noise sound effects - they were painful.
I have rewatched episode 1 and im enjoying it - i like the sub stories as well.

the sound effects are annoying me. Its my major criticism about the drama.


(Any other issue I have is probable that its not genre i enjoy - but thats on me and my taste)

The sound effects annoy me,
Actors are looking good and its not a bad drama, its well produced (again apart from sound) and i hope it does well.
But it may not be my taste, about the type of story I enjoy. I may watch another episode before i decide. I also dropped Me and Thee.

am I the only one who dislikes the sound effects used ? I know it may make sense for the comedy but there are other ways to make something funny.

Its an enjoyable and competent drama, an interesting story and great acting - worth the time .


Thai bl actors (the majority) should really attend drama school. They fail to convince me of the roles they are playing - im always aware of how they are trying to act. It tends to make a lot of dramas come across as amateurish

Are you deciding what is the acceptable type of kissing that should be allowed on bl shows?

Maybe you need to stop watching sinful bl gay dramas then if you have a problem with the kissing and focus on evangelical bible reading instead.
