I'm literally rewatching White Cat atm just to numb the pain that was this series. 😅

Im now rewatching this now that all these guys "made it" and it's such a different show 😅

Never read the novel but there's multiple shows where strange happenings are explained through "meteorite hallucinations" and similar "scientific phenomena" e.g. weird plants, probably due to censorship. I get it if in Xu's head it's always been aliens, and he was censored but it's just really annoying after so many years of scientific explainaways only to end up here.

It's an ending clearly for us who's seen the other 10+ (ok i may be jking here) related shows in the same series, complete with character cameos.
Which is probably why there's all the mixed comments below.
Personally, it completely changed the premise for all the other shows so the betrayal feels real. 😅
(I note you're from the US - it's like, if you watched all the episodes of Supernatural or Buffy from the beginning of time, and then they told you it was aliens.)

The worst part is us fans of the wider series now knows we spent six(?) years of our lives on aliens... And not some "scientific anomaly" of "ancient rites" that Mr Xu sold us so many years ago.

I am sure the main creators would argue that the rest of the story is in every other show they ever made.. fair but this was the most brutal for us fans of the whole series.

Our credited Creator is not known for not delivering the sequel followed by the sequel followed by the sequel of the sequel followed by the prequel 😉

It's like a Marvel origin series in the making at this point.

But generally i agree with you, it was a cheap move.
And the worst part is, it's so obvious how mr xu is trying to ship ZXC as the next ZYL (a la Justice in the Dark then this series) but you know, the entertainment industry isnt known for two lightning strikes in a row..

So much suck about it, I dont even know where to start. And the worst of it is now knowing ZQL is probably just an alien and not superman.

Man i really dont know about the ending.
P. S. But yes, to answer the screenwriter's question, I will be one to keep watching until uh, maybe we have an actual ending where we finally know where third uncle is.

What if.. ZQL was originally female until he lost his memory... I just saying in case Mr Xu is reading.. 😁

Personally i think it only went bland for three or four episodes. The pacing is good because it's almost a short drama.

Ok im almost caught up and ZYR has won me over.. im usually quite encouraging of CDL but she has certain gaps that no amount of acting skill can solve, so not every pairing works with her (Joseph was a great example), but despite his green-ness, ZYR works, probably because his face also works with the realistic relationship tropes.
Defo his green-ness shows though, if he gets on one more horse and almost falls off again, i might just seriously lol for the wrong reasons.
