I mean did him not die while he was exiled. Why does he need to be saved in the past so he could live in the present.…
The going back to Joeson made sense several episodes ago. I actually wrote a whole comment saying that's what I thought was gonna happen. The souls return to their original timelines and we get a Joeson story line and modern story line and there were several ways this could play out. But then they went and did the last two episodes so that seemed off the table...now...WTH????

Typical kdrama and their writers spoiling the ending. Why did he get stabbed? Shin Seo ri's grandma should stay…
I watched a c-drama where there was problem after problem - and FINALLY things get sorted in the last episodes AND THEN in the very LAST episode they have her guy go missing b/c he was going blind and he had to have surgery and didn't tell her and in the very VERY last minutes they are reunited and (thank god) he isn't blind for real...surgery worked. lol

And when I say last minutes...I mean last minutes. lol

This show is feeling like that.

I've said several times that this show was messily trying to merge two concepts - soul swapping + reincarnation - and doing a very poor job at it.

And here we are.

"I'm leaning heavily towards the soul-swap "

The writer has been trying to merge two concepts and has done so rather poorly. I've settled on (mostly) reincarnation b/c that's the last thing the writer left us with, which is why the whole "even if you can't come back here" makes no sense.

A full soul swap theory doesn't really work either if they are never gonna take us back to the past to see Dansim's return to the Joeson timeline.

Writer was just making things up as she went along. lol.

Oh I have no problems with your speculation. I'm just laughing at how "made up" it seems. Like (and this isn't a dig) it read like fanfic. Like a whole nother story not based on anything we've seen thus far. And it's as likely to be true as anything else b/c hell...nothing is logically consistent in this show. I know nuance doesn't always come thru in these comments - but my commentary wasn't meant to be negative - I was just amused b/c your comment felt like a whole new story out of thin air.

Also the English translation on that scene is "even if you can't come back here" which for the record makes no sense (as I said the show isn't logically consistent) - 'cause where would Seori go? it's a reincarnation. She's the dominant soul now. And Dansim - presumably is a historical footnote. The whole thing is just silly.

I've no opinion on what it meant since this show has no interest in being logically consistent. But you just made up a whole scenario, that's not even in line with anything that's happened/we've learned in the show.

Out side of assuming this has a happy ending - I've got no clue how they get from point A to point B. They abandoned the premise of the series so now anything is possible. lol

This has been a point of contention for me from the beginning. It was always just a dumb plot point. Like tell him when these fools come to harass you.

From pretty funny to pretty boring... Non-stop crying is the new norm ?
She's Seori now - not Dansim so I guess Seori is a crying wimp who needs constant saving. lol
