As a very pasty person from a long, looooong way away, I find this educational & interesting. It's cool that folx are out here getting knee-deep in the nitty-gritty details, & looking at how they should fit into the context presented by the storyline. The response from the production team has been bloody spectacular. It's also entirely understandable that people are frustrated by people pointing out the inconsistencies. I'm a Nerd so I'm Team Nitty-Gritty Deets.
This feels like an overreach.Yes, the cast of Pursuit of Jade is good-looking, but they’re also acting well.…
Innovation & Art share one fundamental thing - they make people uncomfortable. If this kind of pushback is the result of one guy looking pretty enough to make men feel insecure... well, that's a pretty fragile system, isn't it?
The correct response, for true innovation, is to Push Harder.
if im watching a drama to take a break from reality, i WANT good looking people. However, I can try to see from…
It also depends on the genre too, right? Like, in a fantasy world, people should look different from reality. In an action piece, you'll expect some SFX for injuries & so on. In a medical drama, you'll expect to see medical equipment. In an historical fantasy, you expect fantastical stuff. Like perfect eyeliner or pointy ears.
No one should be supporting a government in restricting artistic expression.
Art is there to challenge you. It SHOULD make you uncomfortable. If there's such vocal push-back from the work of a makeup artist, what art aren't we seeing?
Give the people a character who is eminently capable AND pretty, then watch the dudes in power quake in their boots, I guess?
You can't innovate without challenging tradition. Art isn't Art until it makes people uncomfortable. Apparently, all it takes to make China's powerful uncomfortable is a capable makeup artist. Wasn't on my 2026 Bingo Card, but I'll take it.
Let me see if I'm following correctly: Choi is going after Aejoon to avenge Jooha because he thinks Aejoon is…
Choi Siyeol seems to be targeting Na Aejoon, yes. The presumption Siyeol is carrying is that Ji Kyusung - who was in a relationship with Yeon Jooha - ended the relationship because he found someone else. Kyusung has massaged the situation somewhat to encourage Siyeol & Jooha to think that is the reason for the breakup - including passing Aejoon off as his new Beau.
The Plot Thickens, however! saying more would be a definite spoiler, but suffice to say there is more going on than meets the eye.
THIS IS INFURIATING OMG!!!“we earnestly ask the public not to pay excessive attention to this matter” OH YOU…
Yes exactly!! "Pay no mind to the man behind the curtain..." The Wizard of Oz taught us good life lessons. I will ALWAYS listen to a person who is ill or disabled when they say people around them are making things worse.

It's the Royal "We".
Guys, I solved it!!
