This is one reason why I like to wait until after a drama has finished airing. It helps me decide whether I want…
I don’t really need a shoe to have a happy ending, I just need it to be organic and earned based on the storytelling that was previously shown. I don’t want a happy ending thrown on if the show didn’t warrant it. At the same time I don’t want a tragic ending just because the director wanted to be artsy and leave an impression.
I really wanted to smack the one who was calling him Prince Consort. Like, STFU, dude. You know he is madly in…
That was super unrealistic. It was highly disrespectful and in that time period, he could have been executed and there wouldn’t have been a damn thing FCY could do about it. A soldier couldn’t even get away with doing that to a modern general with some consequences.
Pursuit of Jade has officially overtaken the legendary Love Between Fairy and Devil to claim the #4 spot on iQiyi's…
Not shocking to me. This show is definitely getting added to my favorites list alongside The Double, Blossom, The Story Yanxi Palace, The Princess Weiyoung and Twelve Letters. Can’t wait to do a rewatch once it ends.
The palace intrigue plot is so interesting. I hate that they have to speed run it. We really need another 20 episodes just to deal with all the intrigue. You can’t just have Li Huaian and Qi Min meet like that and try to unpack it all in eight episodes. And we are just getting into the love triangle (even though LH doesn’t stand a chance). Xie Zheng also said he plans to depose the emperor! Some people are saying they should do a second season. I agree. There is just too much story left. I’d rather them end with a cliffhanger and give us a fully realized story than rush the ending. This story is just too good to rush.
I'm glad they addressed Chang Yu knocking Li Huai'an out as a problem. She was right about everything she said,…
She wasn’t right about anything. She can’t predict the future. And she didn’t do a medical check up on him. These characters fight with injuries all the time. Also, if he’s that injured, more blunt force trauma is the last thing he needs. Here is where the writing gets thin. Li is knocked out so she can be in position to go face the main bad guy. Then XZ leaves the main bad guy to chase SYQ and save General He so that FCY can conveniently face the main bad guy and gain fame. Of course the great XZ fails at both of his tasks. He lets SYQ escape and never gets to General He. This is where the writing has gotten thin and contrived. It’s not terrible and still entertaining but it’s not as sharp as what we had in earlier episodes. I chalk it up to time constraints more than anything. We don’t have to organically make her into a famous general so we create things like knocking out a general in the middle of a battle and having XZ go on a wild goose chase to give FCY the chance to be a hero. I know we have to get to that point and it has been going well up till now, but in the last two episodes it didn’t feel earned. That’s sad because her fight with the first big boss was so well done and felt organic.
I do wish we could see more growth montages from her, training etc, true. The thing about the forcing her decisions…
This is what a lot of people feared when they spent so much time developing the town story. Ultimately the pay off was worth it, but I fear we are now paying for that early set up. The Qian Qian escape was the worst bit of writing so far. It’s obvious that they were running out of episodes fast, so story had to be sacrificed. I hate to see this happen because the story has been great so far. I fear that we will see more of this because there is too much story to tell with so few episodes left.
Agreed. I commented how the show's writing was good even up until halfway point, but in the last few episodes…
That’s always a concern with these shows. Which section of the book do you give time to. I guess in a perfect world we could 15 episodes in the village, 15 episodes dealing with the battlefield saga and her becoming a general and then another 15 devoted to the palace intrigue. And then you need another 15 in no particular order just sort through all the relationship drama. Instead they end up have to make awkward edits and speed run things. You hate to see that from a drama that has really been great for most of its run. But that seems to be the nature of Cdramas lately with the limits on number of episodes.
This is what Legend of The Female General was supposed to be
Soeaking to the choir. I guess my expectations for that one was too high. I didnt have any expectations for this show and I have been blown away. My favorite Cdrama in the last two years.
Agree. She has a major blindspot when it comes to her embracing her own valour in the battlefield while completely…
I am glad the writers let Li call her out on it. Maybe he would have died or maybe he could have been a helped and saved lives. You can’t do whatever you want to protect people but then act self righteous when others try to do the same for you.
I’m starting to feel like Changyu is a bit of a hypocrite. Knocking out Li Huaian and drugging Xie Zheng (even if she thought he was YZ) was making decisions for them, taking away their agency. We applaud her for going her own way and making decisions for herself but then she doesn’t allow others to do the same. You can’t use the excuse that she’s just trying to protect them when XZ was also just trying to protect her. Had she not knocked out LH, maybe he could have saved General He. Even if it cost him his life, that’s his choice. You can’t demand choice and independence for yourself but take it from others. Not sure if it’s just the writer wanting to make her a hero, but it ends up being a character flaw.
The Xie army was on the move to Lucheng and Bao'er and his companion were following their the tracks
It’s very similar to how Changyu’s blue scarf blew off and found its way to Xie Zheng’s bed side. And that’s how they were reunited. Some things are driven by fate.
Just saw a spoiler of the princess treating CY's wounds and she asked "What's this on your neck? It's fresh…
I think that was a post credit scene, not a spoiler. We were still in the same episode. They were showing her and the princess before she left camp. She remembered the time her and XZ were by the lake. They must have done a little more than kiss. Use your imagination.
