Still intriguing, but nowhere as good as 1-5. Tempo really slowed down; the silly romance (?) clips are happening more and more frequently, and General Chang Yu Qing, as well as Royal Guard Shi Yuan, seem missing in action. Also, adding advisor Xu Jing, made the FL momentarily redundant.
However, Yizhou general Shi Dachun is just an amazing addition to the story, and overall I am still using FF much less compared to the other shows.
I hate with a passion the "let's dumb down female lead, so the ML can rescue her over and over again, just…
It's mostly Novel, and Parts 1 and 2 of the Microdrama (only covered around 20-25% of the Novel, which is a really long and amazing read, despite the worst title ever).
ep 29. when she was punished for saving mu qing yan
In the end, I am unable to enjoy the show (any show) with the manipulative, red-flag ML running circles around the supposedly smart FL, either because she has a blind spot for him out of love, or/and because she is not as smart as advertised. Their big conversation in episode 28 somewhat proved otherwise in both cases (as she had a clear understanding of his plan, with gambling on her playing a clear part), yet she still followed him (by teleportation?) and was somehow surprised by more of his schemes. So, just a moment later she proved to have a blind spot AND not be as smart as advertised. And then just plain dumb, by rescuing him when he collapsed, despite being clearly disgusted by what he did in his scheme.
What a mess.
Btw, I realised how similar the ML is to Yang Kang from the "Legend of Condor Heroes", who is one of the main antagonists in Jin Yong's book/Drama. I'm just not sure who is worse: Yang Kang's fiancée, sometimes too dumb to see his true persona and sometimes able to exonerate his evil schemes when seeing it, or Cai Zhao, who sees and understands pretty much everything, but still loves and protects him.
After the "Generation to Generation" fiasco, in my continuous search for strong FL-centric shows, I've decided to give it a try, and so far, it's been a really good decision.
1) Everything starts with the actress playing FL - I loved her in "Sword Snow Stride", while hating how underutilised she was there. Here, she is just amazing, as an underdog trying to stay alive on her way to the Revenge. She is also very convincing as a man and is not afraid to get dirty (literally). 2) It's a dirty, ugly drama so far, so different compared to Idol shows like "Pursuit of Jade" or Romance of Female Soldier", when typically even death looks beautiful. 3) Of course, not everything is perfect - the plot armour with door opened when the FL was taking a bath in Episode 1 was just dumb, and the writers can't decide if she knows Martial Arts (she exchanged a couple of blows with a highly skilled and knive-wielding Assassin in Ep 1, but later seems to forget it) 4) There are more veteran actors compared to dramas I've tried recently, which automatically makes quality go up and up. The Emperor is just amazing, and I remember the actor playing the Prime Minister from his big role in "Nirvana in Fire" as the main antagonist to Mei Chang Su in the 2nd part of that amazing show.
However, I can only laugh how over-powered is Beimo general playing 2ML - people are complaining about women as Mary Sue if she has some skills, and the guy here is a Marty Sue on steroids, but since he is good looking 2ML than everything is fine. LOL.
I don't look forward to the romance part (especially involving 2ML), but look very much forward to the rest of the show.
Despite dropping it, I have a question - during the introduction in Episode 1, screens showed FL being publicly whipped, maybe inside her Sect, maybe somewhere else. What episode was it?
"You lost" - said the FL around 31th minute of Episode 1, and about 5 seconds after, she had to be saved by the same guy she was fighting against, as she would have fallen off the cliff without him rescuing her.
The way C-Drama writers are writing a Strong/Badass/Martial Arts Female Leads is just downright insulting.
皇后娘娘万福金安 (Ma Le Jie) - highly capable and very likeable FL, and even ML; plus the Romance was better than usual. Standard storyline about the powerful ancient lady transmigrating, but worth watching.
毒舌千金又美又飒 (Fan Chu Qi) - there were a few interesting moments and catchy one-liners; even the FL was pretty good here (and had great presence). But overall, it's a bunch of nonsense, especially the final act.
重生后我和公主成闺蜜,顺便换了江山 (Wei Fan Shu) - what a smart and capable female lead in political scheming (and with stunning looks), unfortunately, in an overly-complicated Revenge Story. But without ML, which is a huge plus. Either way, I have a tough time accepting/believing that such a powerful FL could be killed in her original life. Ugh, I hate rebirths.
I don't like Republican dramas, so I don't know if I even would watch it, but it's a second Qin Lan's drama besides The Assassin that is on-hold for so long.
How could they kiss so much with limited romance? :)
I didn't know unicorns like that exist, will have to try it then ;).

You made me quite interested in the Novel - how does the FL here stacks against Lu Songli? :)

But, on the other hand, it's only 10 episodes left...
Of course, I agree that writers lost their way when trying to expand the drama's world, but unfortunately, it's quite typical- C-drama or not
Okay, now, I'm curious too ;).
