does this have revenge?? because i want to watch it but i'm currently not in the mood for that
It kind of does, but between all the romance and nothing-ness, you don't feel it's important anymore.

Episodes 6-10 report... or lack of it, as I am dropping it.

Some cool moments here and there, but overall I dislike ML too much to continue. And FL is nowhere close to fill this gap for me.

I'm sure there will be moments I would enjoy (surprisingly, Lingbo pouring a bucket of ice-cold water on her mother in Episode 10 was a great one), but overall it will be a frustrating waste of time watching the remaining 27 episodes.

Back to my private Vertical Trashy Dramas Dungeon, filled with truly FL-centric and sometimes, even lacking ML and/or romance, dramas.

Title: 真千金她热辣滚烫/The real heiress is hot and passionate

For the fans of badass FL's (and a lack of cold CEO MLs)

Plot:
Lin Jinchu, a girl who has struggled in darkness for nineteen years, has a deformed right leg and a heart full of scars, yet she still stubbornly lives on. One night, after a narrow victory in the boxing ring, she encounters her biological parents and learns that she is the real heiress, switched at birth by her nanny. Returning to the Lin family, she is not greeted with warmth and love; the fake heiress, Lin Yue, hides a knife behind her smile, and her younger brother, Lin Chen, verbally abuses her. Faced with hypocritical family affection, Lin Jinchu can no longer endure it and unleashes a furious counterattack!

Title A Splendid Match Spoiler
That quote is pretty accurate. The FL & ML are evenly matched, not sure where the "crying mess" description…
You can check my YT playlist if you want to try - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL07cQXP6zFrZTavwmT5YLL3CpmMKNHJlP

The first drama (around 3:35 long) with multiple links ("Queen of Battlefield") is actually a decent starting point to test whether you might like them.

And regarding "G2G - we'll see. I promised myself to give 10 episodes, but it's getting harder, as it's another copy-and-paste show, especially after I recently watched bits of "Legend of Condor Heroes".

Vertical Dramas are dramas filmed vertically for mobile devices, usually trashy, with episodes 2-3 minutes long and runs of 40-60-80 episodes.

They started 2-3 years ago with a terrible all-around quality,, but despite it, the ADHD society still made them popular, and with more money poured in (Investors like them, since it has a return on investment in 2-3 months), the quality is getting better on all fronts (picture/audio quality, storytelling, acting)
95-99% of them are still trash, but if you know how to search for what you like, they can be quite enjoyable.
And the range of topics/themes in them is much wider than in the copy-and-paste world of Big productions.
For example, you can find FL-centric dramas without ML and where the FL is running a show - how cool is that? :)

Yes, I watched both parts - Flourished Peony was really, really good, "In the name of Blossom", not really.

I loved the resilience of the FL (and the actress's acting plus music). And, to their credit, the writers made decent use of her in the final battle/rebellion at least (hello "Prisoner of Beauty" and your idea of getting FL pregnant and making her a useless, side character at the end...). It was a weak rebellion, but at least the FL proved to be quite useful.

However, let's not lie to ourselves that ML doesn't save the FL there - it happens quite a bit; I don't know why people are blind to that so often in Dramas.
At least in "Flourished Peony", he helped her a few times on her request, which was a nice twist.
But, after she got really rich, every time she went out without bodyguards, it made me, well; I know am in the minority to prefer a smarter FL with better decision-making, over dramatic/cliffhanger moments. But I know it will never happen due to the latter.

Title Fated Hearts
5/10. Unpopular opinion. Interesting plot but it feels repetitive. I get why some here says that couple lacks…
Hi. Just curious about it - " I've seen few dramas where FL is more intelligent or strong than ML ", could you name a few?

I'm yet to see one, especially if there is a Power Couple, where pretty much always ML is stronger/smarter.

This or story of yanxi palace. Which one is better?
Yanxi is much better, at least the FL there doesn't think it's raining when someone is throwing shit on her.

Plus, the Zhen Huan (Empress Dowager) with a cat in "Ruyi" just doesn't make any sense ;).

It's complicated, but it seems to be happening more and more, as I'm decent in research, so among the huge pile of shit, I am able to find individual Vertical Dramas I enjoy (with algorithms helping of course)

Unlike the big production ones, which are pretty much copy & paste these days - good looking FLs & MLs, more and more romance, FL always playing 2nd fiddle in "Power Couples" and getting dumbed down if starting smart/strong, etc...
At least in Vertical's pile of shit, there is some diversity...

It seems like I will drop "Generation to Generation" at Episode 7 (watching it at the moment). There are some I finished (Pursuit of Jade was the last one, but even there it was a bore after Episode 19), but it's getting more and more difficult.

Thanks. At the moment, It doesn't sound like something I would enjoy, but possibly I'm too deep in Vertical Dramas rabbit hole ;)

Well, I never seen evenly matched FL & ML (every time people claim it, the ML is still stronger/smarter/whatever; just the difference is not as big as typical is)

And this was the original post, very off-putting:
"On the 7th epi and as soon as the ML appears, all that the FL can do is cry, beg or kneel in front of him. All her independence and strength disappears in front of him. I hope it changes soon."

On Side Story of Fox Volant 20 days ago
I watched it a while ago (2025 maybe?), and didn't have many conclusions, but was quite enjoying it (and absolutely loved Cheng Ling Su, except, of course, her tolerance for the ML's stupidity).

But after spending a few nights watching bits of various versions of the "Legend of Condor Heroes", I realised that "Side Story of Fox Volant" is much better, and even the ML isn't as terribly irritating as the ML in the LOCH (he is still bad, though).

One thing didn't change - Cheng Ling Su is still one of my favourite female characters in C-Drama, and she is probably one of the few I like so much without Martial Arts skills (I liked Yuan Zi Yi in that aspect).

Also, the fights here were just spectacular. Miao Fen Reng is an amazing character, for example.

This was an impressively passive-aggressive reply; appreciate the quality.

And for the record - I'm not watching it (yet?), just trying to decide if the FL and story won't disappoint me.

Well, the protagonist who knows the future and stiil loses a significant amount of times is just... not very smart, typically.

If she completely lost in the original life, and after getting reborn, she isn't winning enough, then well...

Thanks for the warning though.

"Gu Jinzhao — I really loved her as a smart female lead. Not because the drama constantly tells us she is smart. But because the writing consistently proves it. She understands politics, reputation warfare, commerce, law, emotional manipulation, and social psychology. What I loved most is that her intelligence never feels unrealistic. She survives because she observes people carefully. Even during terrifying situations, she remains emotionally composed enough to think strategically."

It's from the pinned review - how correct is it? I mostly watch Dramas for interesting female leads.

I already read a post that the FL suddenly became a crying mess when ML was around - the trope I hate.

Ugh, this made me stop thinking about watching it, as I hate when the otherwise smart FLs lose half of the IQ points because ML is around...
