Ahhh I think I’m gonna have to save up more episodes before watching any more. I stopped at 19 after she told her parents that she’s going on a long journey. With all of the angst, divorce letters, separation, secret-keeping and then the angry fallout from that in 27, I will probably pick the drama back up after the lead’s romantic relationship is established. It’s too much right now and my brain becomes obsessive can’t relax when things continue to be left unsettled. 😵💫
Oh I totally agree 💯Like she will be literally the last person on earth who didn’t know 🤦🏼♀️😬I’m not the biggest fan either, but I don’t hate this secret-keeping as much as I hated it in other shows (like litc),
There’s a lot of reasons why he could be. The actor posted earlier today (I think) that XZ became afraid that the FL would leave him because their relationship is already in a difficult place and he was afraid of making it worse.
Others speculate that Zheng didn’t want Changyu to treat him differently if she knew.
Some have suggested that it has something to do with Zheng’s investigation 🤷🏼♀️
It’s left kinda open. Apparently he still deceives her for a bit in the novel as well.
Indeed with the coin scene and the bath scene in this one being like this i am really looking forward to changyu…
I hope it will be, too, but I’ve noticed that censorship is a lot more lax if the sexual content is depicted as “bad” or “wrong”. I obviously hope I am wrong, but I’m not expecting something that spicy with our leads. I think the second leads got away with it because it’s technically abuse.
Yeah it’s disappointing. I am still trying to understand it so it won’t dampen my love for this drama. But…
Thank you, this also helps me. I WANT to understand this because this is shaping up to be one of my favorite dramas of all time and I do not want to start disliking it. I appreciate this perspective as well.
i kinda understand it though. imagine telling your wife, who is a commoner and who you are very much in love with,…
I appreciate this perspective, actually, thank you. You mentioning that him believing that “she fancies scholars” makes sense. She was engaged to one for a long time and then she believed that XZ was one when they were living together in the village. And then Zheng’s jab in 17 about her liking scholars when they were fighting also makes sense in this context. So he would be afraid to tell her, because as a Marquis he doesn’t believe that she will still want to be with him. This is helping a lot, actually. Thank you for this perspective. A lot of other pieces and scenes from the first 16 episodes are connecting as I think more about it.
I honestly don't understand all this pointless lying and drama. It kind of ruins the show for me. It would have…
Yeah it’s disappointing. I am still trying to understand it so it won’t dampen my love for this drama. But overall it sounds like XZ never really gives a clear answer as to why, not even in the novel.
