I have mixed feelings about this drama. The main couple is perfect, they have amazing chemistry and their relationship is built slowly in a really beautiful way. But I couldn’t help noticing the message in this drama that you’re supposed to marry within your social class. It reminded me of how China was cracking down on CEO and poor employee dramas lol, because they were creating this idea that a Prince Charming would magically show up and save women. Maybe that’s why this message exists in this drama too, if you look closely there’s the FL’s story with Zhuang Xu and also the ML’s parents’ story. And honestly, relationships between people from very different social classes are really difficult (and it’s not easy to find either).
Still, I can’t help feeling a bit of heartbreak for Zhuang Xu. Even if it wouldn’t have worked out, I wish they had at least lived their love. He lost the chance to experience love because he underestimated himself, and that’s just really sad.
I’m dropping this drama here at episode 17. There are a lot of things I didn’t like about it, but honestly it’s mostly because of the moment I’m living right now, I’m just not prepared for this series. It is visually stunning, the actors, the sets, the costumes… everything looks amazing. But the story is just so much pain and sadness. And on top of that, I grew to hate the kid and the goddess, because every single moment someone has to save her from something and she just makes that helpless face, I can’t take it anymore.
But like I said, I think it’s because I’m going through a hard time myself and I just can’t handle it right now. I’ll leave it for my future self to watch. I did the same with Till the End of the Moon, I dropped it, then came back later and rewatched everything, and it was great.
Don’t expect anything deep.... it’s just a light, kinda silly romance. I feel like instead of that uncle plot…
tbh, even tho those clichés i hate are in the show, since it's short, they don't get thrown at you all the time. the drama isn't drawn out either & they sort out misunderstandings fast. so yeah, it's still a light watch

Ugh it annoys me SO much when I’m watching a K-drama and they suddenly drop the “they met as kids” thing. Like pleaseee 😩 this one even broke a record................ episode 2 already!
Aside from what I already said, the story is actually good. But I also think this is the Chinese drama with the most beautiful people I’ve ever seen. It’s honestly stunning.... the set design, the costumes, the special effects. Even though the story slows down a bit in the middle for me, it gets really good again toward the end, and the plot is well put together with no loose ends and a solid ending.
I started watching this show because everyone was talking about it on TikTok, and the beginning was really good, but after like episode 20 it gets super boring. I'm on episode 28 now and have zero motivation to keep going.
Also, I don’t think the main couple really matches. Lu Yu Xiao has a more natural kind of beauty and she fits better with actors who look more masculine, while the male lead here has a softer, more modern look. (rewrote my comment because the other one made me sound like a crazy hater lol)
The beginning was really good, but from the middle to the end I just wanted to watch Ruo Wen’s scenes. I actually think Ruo Wen’s secondary storyline turned out much better.
The performances were flawless, and it was visually stunning too. I have to say, when I watched episode 1, I came here and commented something like “Wow, I’m already having war flashbacks with Chen He Yi as the second lead again, please give him a main role, I can’t stand seeing him lose the girl to the ML one more time,” and someone replied “Enjoy the chaos,” and honestly, that’s exactly how I felt hahaha.
I really loved that in this series everyone has nuances, no one is completely evil or good. The villains aren’t just bad, and the good guys aren’t perfect. Sometimes the person who’s awful to you can still show love and care for others, and that’s just life.
I’ve liked Li Qin since Princess Agents, and this was my first time watching Chen Zhe Yuan. I thought they had great chemistry, but the second couple totally stole the show. I think that’s because the main couple’s relationship developed really quickly, they fell in love and confessed without fear (which was beautiful too haha), but by the end, we were more emotionally attached to the second couple’s story since the main one was focused on problems outside their romance.
And honestly, the second couple are such amazing actors. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for Xia Meng and Qin Tian Yu, they’re both so talented. I really hope this drama opens doors for more great projects for them, and also for Chen He Yi, who once again proved how good he is.
Overall, this one deserves a high score, and considering how many great Chinese dramas we’ve had this year, this one is definitely among the top for me.
