It has guns and action director, but not all dramas in this period is supposed to be action-packed. Competing with other actions packed dramas doesn’t mean this drama need to lose the main message they want to deliver. They can be themselves.

I have watched jdramas and kdramas since 2004, so I have watched a lot. You will always find similar tropes but used differently, doesn’t mean it’s not original. Historical dramas can have many angles, doesn’t have to all be Mr Sunshine. I wonder if you missed reading the project purpose that the script writer wrote. It is a story about love, and how these loves change the people of the time, and how it left with the people behind once they passed for the independence. It was receiving high praises even in hot posts and tweets on how good and deep it is. We won’t know how the execution is until the drama airs. But saying it’s cliched, boring, unoriginal, simply is quite jarring.

what’s so not original about the taglines lol?

Don’t know how you will look at the amount of efforts and hearts that put into this project and think this is going to be cheesy fandom serving drama lol romance doesn’t mean cheesy, a love story in a tragic time like such can be beautiful. The uses of multi-languages add in the stakes. If you watch the trailer and think it’s corny and cliched, that’s on you…? From the museum and the project meaning to the letters, minimizing a story about loves to cliche is a choice lol

because it is not a female-centric drama… The story is from the FL’s perspective but it’s always listed officially a spy romance. Both leads are the focus storyline as early as in the project proposal.

This drama is always promoted as Spy Romance in all PR and official news. You don’t have romance with only one person. It’s always meant to have both leads as the main storyline and it’s not a contract issue so they show both leads in the poster. Both leads are the focus of the story.

it was a fast paced live stream with comments going very quickly and he was doing fan services by saying comments out loud and that comment was even in Korean. it was a quick reactive response when on the same day he donated millions to children including those in Gaza for his birthday. people projecting performative activism and taking things out of context is crazy

The amount of time they foreshadowed death and tragic ending makes me feel like the ending could be totally opposite hahaha you know how dramas always love the twist the more they tell you happy ending the more it will end terribly maybe this is also those “so much death and sad ending now” but it will end up be happy ending LOL

I think the director specifically said it is not a revenge story. For the underserved community and its people, “justice” and “revenge” is really just a fantasy, despite whatever efforts they tried, maybe even with life, it just doesn’t get to them. director purposefully made it so hard for Ilwoo to even touch the gang members because rich and powers always have so many people to shield them.

and it should be very clear it is not the brother’s neglecting his younger brother. He himself is not an adult yet, a 17 years old with no guardians himself, with a huge debt his parents left him, and almost roofless. it is the society’s and adults’ neglection that is to blamed. the social workers are blaming a teenager who can’t legally work yet on failing to provide for both his special need brother and his special need grandma. even full adults (dad and mom) couldn’t handle and gave up on them, yet the older brother stick around to still try his best in providing. We simply can’t ask for people struggling to survive and still have the emotional level support (AND from a kid who himself has never received!)

I meant besides these, he actually only has Yumi’s Cells, Still Shining, Our Unwritten Seoul that his roles were romance focused 😂 so not sure that counts as “most”. Yaksha, a stray goat were also not romance.
