They shouldnt be wooden or awkard or anything. At least the ML is too old and many years in the business to be that awkward. After all, we are here only for the outcome and they should be able to give their best. I, as part of the audience have no need to excuse them, especially when they ruined the first intimate encounter (crying bittersly and cursing) lol

His older ones were fine (i dont consider him as a top performance actor in romance dramas so given his talent he was ok). Most of the times the wrong/badly given skinship scenes are a director's fault. A good director can even turn a stone into an actor. Its not a matter of actors themselves, because their limits about where they cross the line in intimate scenes, is being talked through since the beginning so the director knows exactly where to stop. Its also a matter of chemistry and trust between the couple, they usually spend time togetheralone before shooting or have some exercises to deepen the intimacy between them. I agree with you, no matter how good an actor is, he/she have to give the best on each performance, otherwise stick to the genre he is capable of. And of course there are actors that are naturally or by hard work, top in any genre, eg chinese Bai Yu, korean Ji Sung, Bai Lu, Ni Ni, Luo Yunxi, no matter where you put them, you ll get the best of them in most cases.
Many a friend have sacrificed themselves for each other just became they love them, not because they want to "have"…
Yes thats also true! I just wanted to point out, that being of a certain sexual identity those times back then, was not the same as today in many cultures. Having sex with a person of the same sex, sometimes meant nothing more or it was part of the procedure to create a bond, or between student and teacher (japanese Nogaku theater for example), or roman soldiers, ottomans and greek ones too etc
what I wrote about the dead fish kiss in reply below:"Going by the realism, this was 100% first time she kissed…
The dead fish style is somehow expected at this point. But the rest of the body language from both of them (posture, breathing, angles) gives that result And i ll never understand, when kdramas directors learned that being shocked means only having 1 reaction-thus looking like an ice cube!

"gay" platonic love between war fighters it was a very common thing among men those times in many cultures. They even had sexual interactions not necessarily being gay themselves. Things were considered differently those times. Women did the same back home, withoug being lesbians. Depending on the culture and era, you can see that the sexual interaction or platonic crush on your war mate, was something very natural no matter your sexual identity/prefernece or whatever.

Cdramas have more passionate epic couples in total, depends on the platform and restrictions (its somehow vague when something is forbidden and when not). kdramas have that fish style kisses as a norm for the majority of dramas, same way as they have that "30+ and still virgins" for both m/f. Its awkward but its a norm of the recent years. Thats why i love older kdramas, at least before 2015 when the industry got on fire. As for Nam Goongmin, no there are no restrictions, he s actually very into it-and thats what a professional actor should do ( i mean if you dont want skinship, you dont choose romantic dramas-so simple). In almost every other drama of his, even the non romantic ones, he will go for it (and he is in serious relationship for many years now).
All the time of episode 7, I was like this: Oops, no, no, no, no, no, no!The king's appreciation and thanks to…
It was not only the "fish" style kiss but also a horrible montage and cutting of scenes. In one second you see his hand on her neck and the same sec on her shoulder. The direction was also failed cause he was wooden as well. There wasnt any angsty breathing, any other body reaction from him or her. They cut and put together scenes from multiple shots of the kissing scene so, adding the actors non existent reactions, we had that awful outcome. I was also very disappointed. If they re gonna do the same with another kiss in the future, they d better leave the kisses alone and go on with the story
I am more so frustrated with the writer than the characters cos what they did make complete sense given then situation…
I get the whole "i dont like you that much yet cause you are bla bla bla" up to now but i saw a preview of ep8 (no subs) and from the korean comments there was something about "hate" .Either she tells him at his face that she hates him, or he says so (that he believes she hates him). If thats the case, then the whole: "i dont love you yet" thing would be pretentious so that they keep torturing the audience. And when you torture the audience on purpose, means that there arent other elements worthy enough to keep up the hype. There are many reasons for her not to like him (and being full aware of it) yet, but there is absolutely no reason for hate. He even helped her with her crush at the beginning com'on. I hope thats not the case here and things go smoothly. There should always be common logic even in fiction. Heroes emotions should have a consistancy and a reason to occur and evolve. Otherwise the story gets all over the place. Obstacles between lovers are the no1 reason for a couple to be epic and keep a romantic drama alive. But if writers overdo it then we re talking about pure trash.
Since its inspired by "gone with the wind" this will go on for quite a while, similar sort of thing happened in…
I ve read the book and watched the movie centuries ago, but i dont find many similarities, besides the temporary one sided love. Rhett and Scarlet were sh@tty characters from the beginning to the end. The dynamics are completely different. Maybe they copied 1-2 dialogues to spice things up
