how can you even say that to a childlook how broken he was at the end T^Tshe's not even related to Karino anymore,…
See, while I hope that Real Dad is reformed and genuinely wants the best for his child, I'm hoping for an ending where Karino and Mizuki get married and adopt Kotaro ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Spoiler tag please. As much as I hated that Rika was the only one who was left all alone in the end, I appreciate…
She deserved so much better. I didn't like how she's just left out on the cold while everyone else gets a happy ending. At least in the 2020 version, she has a slightly happier fate.
Honestly I like both 2020 and 1991 versions but they both have their own pros and cons. The FL here was absolutely…
That being said, literally everyone in the 1991 version are less toxic and not straight up assh*les like the ones in the 2020 drama. Mikami is still a womanizer and still has eyes on Nagasaki but at least he doesn't carry on affairs during his relationship with Sekiguchi - most of the time it was all just misunderstandings even if he wasn't right for her in the end. (**SPOILER FOR THE 2020 VERSION**: He also doesn't straight up rape Sekiguchi...) Kanji is still flipfloppy and a bit of a jerk when it comes to Rika but he's not controlling and doesn't break up with her every 10 seconds. He doesn't cheat on her either. Rika, aside from the disgusting affair with Waga, is a genuinely sweet person and loves Kanji purely. Sekiguchi is not a homewrecker... That much... And is just more mature and assertive in this version. However, what I didn't like was Rika's ending. At least in the 2020, she didn't end up completely alone.
Honestly I like both 2020 and 1991 versions but they both have their own pros and cons. The FL here was absolutely adorable as I mentioned and everyone's motivations made a bit more sense here. The characters are more sympathetic and easy to root for; the story was also very romantic while Kanji x Rika were cute together and so effortlessly a funny couple. That being said, I'm a big fan of the 2020 drama - it just has its own unique quality, the OST is absolutely awesome (sorry, the 1991 OST wasn't that good imo). Also, this drama is a bit more slower and draggy and lacked the same energy as the newer one. It's just hard to beat Ishibashi Shizuka as Rika and Ito Kentaro as Kanji and their sheer chemistry. Anyways, I'd still recommend this if you like a slow paced, romantic melodrama. 8.5/10.
Rika is the only likeable character in this entire series. I love her so much. My heart aches for her.
In all honesty, in this version I genuinely didn't dislike anyone except for Kanji and Mikami and even those two weren't that bad. In the 2020 series, everyone are jerks XD

How did he try to control her though? He has a lot of other problems but controlling wasn't one of them. The whole LA transfer being one example. If you have troubles with this Kanji, you will absolutely despise the 2020 version of him. Here, you can understand his point - he feels smothered by Rika's love and he still has feelings for Satomi - even if you don't agree with them. He causes a lot of pain for Rika but tries to do right by here. The 2020 version though oml...
I was hoping for a happy ending where Umeko and Shutaro but this is Japanese after all. At least the movie is funny and I can imagine that after he gets out from prison he'll end up with her after all
