I think Mo Li is coming out in early June! šļø
Iām also interested in Mo Li, but I still have some reservations about Cheng Lei. Heās incredibly visually appealing, but from what I watched in Legend of the Female General, I found his acting a bit underwhelming overall.
It feels like heās trying to portray a stoic and restrained character, but sometimes it comes across more as an empty, emotionally flat rather than layered intensity. Very different from the kind of intensity Ci Sha can deliver through his eyes and presence alone.
Maybe it also has something to do with Cheng Leiās real-life personality and natural energy. he might suit warmer, more playful, teasing, or emotionally expressive characters better, because that kind of charm seems to come more naturally to him.
So Iām a little worried I wonāt get the same emotional satisfaction that I usually get from actors with stronger internal intensity.
Are you guys watching any on-air C-dramas aside from Splendid Match? Iām really enjoying these daily watch-party discussions ā it honestly feels like having a coffee date every day š
At the same time, Iām scared to start another on-air drama because I know Iāll just end up pulling my hair out waiting for the next episode. Zhanf zhao adcentures?
Quite a reality in chinese culture though. Even when gu grandma suggests that gu lian should start treating gu jin zhao nicely now that she is becoming grand seceetary wife⦠cringe but really happens even in this modern day
i follow this blog who's also talking about this drama, but their take on it is soooo against my own opinionš¤£š.…
I just discovered Ci Sha, and as someone who loves analyzing acting, I think his biggest strength is his eyes. He conveys emotions and intensity through them really effectively.
That said, if weāre being technical, my slight gripe is that he sometimes lacks enough microexpressions and emotional shifts. His eyes may show that his character is scheming or calculating something against Fu Hai Lian, but the rest of his face can stay a bit too still. I can see why some viewers might read that as wooden acting, even though the intention is there.
I feel that if he added tiny details ā like a slight gaze shift, subtle brow movement, or faint smirk ā he could make the calculating side feel even more layered.
That said, I still enjoyed his performance because this role is supposed to be controlled and restrained. Sometimes the lack of expression actually works for the character and gives him a composed, unreadable aura.
Another strength of his is his strong physical presence and aura. He naturally carries an intimidating yet charismatic energy on screen, and that alone already sells the character well, even when he isnāt doing much.
a little advice: if you don't like the main couple, you should stop watching this show. GJZ only loves CYY, wants…
Agree. Right from Episode 1, it was clear as day that the FL only had eyes for the ML, even if at that point it was still just a small crush. Every gaze she throws at him feels so lingering and almost sticky ā like she just canāt pull herself away from him.
She cares for ye xian but only as a friend. Just like How he cares for ji yao As a brother.
It gets better and better⦠iād say romance will start showing by ep9 but still Slow cook
Itās such a slow burn love story, yet every ML and FL scene is powerful enough to stay in your memory ā from the moment she grabbed the lantern and first saw him in the hallway, to her pretending to birdwatch, him casually taking a date cookie from her stash, saving her from drowning, her re-embroidering his cloak, all the way to that first confession. There are many more after the confession and I already plan to rewatch all these once it ends.
And it's a given that I think Ren Min and Ci Sha are doing a brilliant job here (best pairing in eons), but Winwin…
I did a little research on Winwin and it seems he has been proactively pursuing acting training, which honestly shows in his performance. You can see that he approaches acting quite technically, using eye shifts, pauses, and microexpressions to portray internal calculation and emotional changes. Credit where credit is due ā he is clearly putting effort into refining his craft.
That said, I do think the character itself is poorly written - having tantrums and all. Had the writers made him more layered and emotionally compelling like Deng Kaiās character in Pursuit of Jade, viewers probably would have felt far more empathy toward him
Just hit Episode 20. Loving this, and the two leads, more than anything I've watched this year. And what a superb…
Both ML and FL are characters are great. I would become friends with them if they are real people and i wonāt easily say this to other cdrama characters i have watched!
I didn't have much of an opinion on the Loves till now. But the way ML told him "you're going against me over…
I think the MLās intention was to protect the Ye family, since that was also the young emperorās wish but young emperor do not dare to outright disagree with fu hai lian.
CYY deliberately exaggerated the conflict with Ye Xian to make the public believe they were no longer on good terms. But in secret, he had already tipped Ye Xian off, telling him to personally escort his father to prison and go there himself to at least ensure his dad is taken care of inside the prison.
I think CYY plans to use public sympathy. He even mentioned that the least he could do was preserve the Ye familyās reputation, but saving the marquis fatherās life is not guaranteed ā something along those lines.
What are you after? Iād say most viewers who enjoy this drama are here for the simmering romance between the…
To me, it was obvious from the very beginning that the FL never saw the SML as anything more than a friend. The difference in her behavior toward the ML and the 2ML is like day and night. With the ML, she becomes shy, tense, and looks like sheās about to melt every single time. With the 2ML, she acts completely relaxed, like sheās just with a regular best friend.
And honestly, who would fall for a guy who throws tantrums and gets physical whenever things donāt go his way?
So far, we havenāt really had a major ML jealousy scene yet, so Iām curious what kind of conflict the drama will bring in the final third once the 2ML and 3ML start acting up. Itās going to be quite a show.

Would allow
Him to do Both romance and action ! He will Be good at it.
