I noticed that when watching Ci Sha’s interviews, his real voice actually sounds much more bubbly, playful, and youthful. He genuinely sounds like someone his age. That’s why I’m guessing the drama intentionally used a different voice actor — to make Chen Yanyun sound more mature, composed, and authoritative than Ci Sha naturally does in real life.
Can I just say that, this time, I actually have to agree with all the anti-ML comments saying he’s manipulative. He practically orchestrated every little detail during the garden event without even needing to lift a finger — just casually asking questions here and there, making snarky remarks, subtly provoking people, and steering events exactly where he wanted them to go. Honestly, it was a brilliant move.
Still very much pro-ML though. And his potential marriage match, Qing Lan, also seems incredibly smart, beautiful and perceptive. In fact, she might even be too mature and overqualified for our rather immature Ye Xian - if viewers are speculating they will be a match.
Another scene I really enjoyed in this episode was when Madam Chen started discussing Chen’s potential marriage matches. She had already narrowed it down to the “top three” candidates and emphasized that daughters of low-ranking officials or merchant families simply would not be suitable for the future wife of a high rank official like her son. They are too lowly to be even considered.
Meanwhile, Chen Yanyun already had wheels turning in his head and was basically thinking: “I need to propose as soon as possible.”
The contrast between Madam Chen carefully calculating status and political suitability while CYY was quietly panicking over losing the girl he likes…. Ah the irony.
His demand & self entitlement drive me crazy, the heck, why don't he start using his own brain instead of…
YX likes to play victim all the time. Granted he had a sad family life, that is no excuse to be reckless and immature. So CYY giving him a lecture is jusr what he needs
They do. I saw some viewers compare their pairing with sword and brocade because both have mature male lead but the difference in chemistry is day and night. This one has all the tension brewing while sword and brocade felt flat the whole time. Well just my observation.
I love how Ren Min subtly behaves so differently with the three men pursuing her — it makes the dynamics feel…
I am starting to appreciate ren min’s acting abilities. She is able to match the energy of his co stars and elevate the scene by simply reacting to them. Impressive.

With Chen Yanyun, she becomes very prim and proper, softer voice, awkwardly shy even. You can see the microexpressions — the tiny gulps, hesitant pauses, lowered gaze, and the long silences between conversations. There’s this underlying tension and self-consciousness whenever they interact, making it obvious that she likes him.
With the cousin, it’s the complete opposite. They yell, bicker, and challenge each other openly. She’s comfortable enough to directly question whether he truly likes her, which shows how emotionally uninhibited she is around him.
And with Ye Xian, they honestly just feel like best buddies. Their interactions are easy, relaxed, and natural, without the heaviness or tension she has with Chen Yanyun.
But the most impressive part is that even after admitting she likes Chen Yanyun, she still doesn’t seem desperate about getting married. Her feelings don’t consume her entire personality. She still prioritize her own happiness and refuse to get involve with a powerful man .

Looking forward to this
