I watch Chinese dramas 2 years now and only lately I realised how many restrictions exist in China for the drama industry and the actors.

Also sometimes actors don't even have a say into which drama they'll participate into not only because of the government but because of their own company that decides for them.

I think Korean actors have way more freedom. China is too strict on some aspects and if government doesn't pressure you , your company might do so , lol :(

I was talking about the trailer . But it could be misleading though. I haven't watched any episodes yet (since they are raw). Maybe it's comical , who knows :'(

Yeah , same for me too. I hate brainless parody dramas were female lead just yells and screams all the time (producers think that's funny lol....It's so annoying) .
If I start it and it has a silly plot , then I'm out of here xD
The trailer looks "serious" enough. If it's misleading then I'll drop it for sure. I never watch comedy after all.

Check out the trailer guys ! It's not comical at all. It's very romantic with good looking fight scenes. There's no cringe comedy here. On top of that, male lead looks good

I love historical dramas but I'm not into comedy at all and this was the main reason I was avoiding to watch "Court Lady" .
But after reading your article I realised that the drama actually has a "serious" second part.
I'm tempted to watch it now !!!
Xu Kai is a very talented actor and since the plot isn't guffy I'll try it for sure !

Maybe that the transplants keep going and more and more criminals with mutated genes become experiments and receive "emotions'' after the transplants (like Ba Reum did ) ?

Because there were many people who claimed that Tencent never releases more than 2 Xianxias on the same year. I hope all that is just an other rumour and that "Ancient Love poetry " will be released on 2021 (and of course in Summer as you said xD )

Big examples are Love and redemption/ Ashes of love/ Love and destiny etc

Actually if a drama is well written, I don't mind a sad ending ( as long as it's explained well and it's reasonable ).
Even if they choose a sad ending or an "open" one I'm fine with it. I just wanna watch it as soon as possible :)

I wish someone had warned me too.
The first 8 eps were interesting but then it becomes draggy.
The bad ending also doesn't help. Overall is boring and sad. The actors did their best though :)
