True, but I actually gave him a pass because he was about to list some positives when Pi stopped him
He might want to cut his list down to the top 10. 120 flaws! Just focus on the big ones there, little buddy. “And then there’s the way your left little toe bends slightly inward.”. I mean, even Hitler probably only had 80 flaws. Lol
I was actually hoping Nick would finally have enough of Prab this episode and move on. He’s such a good sport, but sheesh. Go and have some fun. I’m sure someone at this all gay school would treat him right.
I forget the name of the friend who asked Prab in what way he loved his brother, but it was funny, I’m with him, rolling my eyes.
TriNick maybe? Tri also needs someone to comfort him. Glad that he finally got up the courage to fight the lost cause.
Ugh. I was happy that an adult at the school showed concern for Maping. At least enough to ask questions about that suspicious relationship so that if there is something budding there, the teacher can rethink it. But obviously I’d forgotten who that teacher was. So now I can’t decide if it’s concern for the safety of the student and the reputation of the school or jealousy.
It doesn't really matter if they give the shadow buddy the google robot voice - everyone who's ever seen a BL…
Idk. I haven’t read the novel so I don’t know how it will be revealed. If it were my series, I wouldn’t have done it this way, because I agree with you that it’s distracting. The second time they did it I was thinking ‘God, I hope the reveal is in ep 2, not ep 11”.
If it were my series, in ep 7, Mork and Pi would be dating, but Pi would get drunk one night at the club and end up sleeping with Mix and then text his unknown to him but not to us mystery friend for advice about what to do. Then close the episode and come here to watch y’all run around with your hair on fire for a week, because suspense is awesome to ratchet up! But alas, this isn’t that kind of show.
I thought the gimmick was annoying. I probably wouldn’t have had them look at each other, it they were having a convo, even is it was just over text, so it’s ok if they were looking at each other. We can agree that they shouldn’t use it so often as it’s jarring.
Is anyone not already in love with Mork? And can we talk about Neo's legs? I don't remember that from Tonhon Chonlatee,…
Yeah, I noticed his legs in THCT. It’s hard to remember how young Phuwin and Neo were in My Tee. (14 & 17), so I didn’t really think of them more as kids, But Neo has become so good looking at 20 that I think if he continues to broaden out, he’s going to be a legit heartthrob. Kind of like watching the Harry Potter kids grow up and Neville Longbottom turns out to be the hot one in the end.
It doesn't really matter if they give the shadow buddy the google robot voice - everyone who's ever seen a BL…
They shot him in the dark and at odd angles because Pi is in the dark about who it is. They let us in on the secret of who he is because they wanted us to know. His full revelation is t going to be a surprise for us. It will be a surprise for Pi, though. They have sacrificed mystery to create suspense. So the question is “when will this fool figure out what we know” rather than “who is the secret texter”. If they really wanted the mystery mentor to be a secret, they would have just had back and forth texting like they do in other shows.
Was o.k. Phuwin is too cute for me to believe only 1 other person noticed in the whole school. It will be better when he transforms. Thankfully that will be next episode.
I guess Neo’s role in this is to sit on the toilet.
I think it’s been awhile since we’ve had a lead this clueless about who loves him. 1/2 secret admirer story. 1/2 Rivals to lover story.
The older brother had better be something special. Everyone is talking him up so much, even I’m excited to meet him. I’ll be disappointed if I don’t swoon when we finally meet him. Lol.
After Ep 7 apart of fanwar drama which we will get i am curious how Gene & Nubsib individual growth will be shown…
I get the sense that Lovely Writer is a first person novel told from Gene's perspective so he's really the only fully developed character in the story. You are right. Now that we know all about Sib and he doesn't need to hide, I hope we can get something more from him. Right now, Sib only has one motivation: Gene! Now, he has ethics and cares about acting somewhat, but his one goal has been to get together with Gene. So he's going to be rather flat now that he's achieved his goal. Either he continues to love Gene or not.
I think Aey is probably going to be the more interesting character going forward, since he is really the mirror image of Gene. Like Gene, Aey is being pursued by a childhood friend. Although unlike Gene, Aey rejects his friend. Gene prefers to be alone. Aey has been forced by circumstances to be alone. Both Gene and Aey get very upset when they think those childhood friends have betrayed them. Anyway, Aey actually has some goals for putting his life back together. I'm wondering if they will play around with those contrasts, or if Aey will just be the bad third wheel. But Aey is kind of like Gene in the Extreme.
Be a little open minded... People react and deal with things differently. Saying that he was overreacting making…
Yeah. Gene as an adult is a bit different than Gene as a kid. But also in many ways the same. I think they needed to show that Gene as a kid was naturally kind to help explain why Sib liked him and would go through all this crap to be with him. A lot of fans commented early on that they didn't like Gene and how he treats Sib and Hin and his arrogant and cranky attitude. They needed to show that softer side of Gene as a kid to explain why Sib would put up with Gene's moods as an adult. He's experienced a different Gene. But Gene as a kid could also be like Gene as an adult. Like when he's playing with those dragons he's off in his own little world even though Sib is in the room with him. That's the loner side of Gene who doesn't like to be disturbed and overlooks people that we see as an adult.
Yeah. I actually think the writers are being more disciplined at this point and I’d like to give them some credit…
Yeah. We've taken this two episode interlude from the wider story to establish them as a couple and clear up this deception. Now we can return them as a couple to the more interesting milieu of the entertainment and publishing industry and test them out a bit and see how Gene reacts to the pressure of having a boyfriend while finishing his now very personal and surprisingly sentimental novel that's very different from the awful "Bad Engineer" (I think its due in 2 months! The clock is ticking!). That's always been the more interesting and fun part of the series anyway.
The storyline is interesting but the writing is pretty immature tbh. Gene's continued overreaction really doesn't…
IDK. All I saw in the teaser is that Gene asks Sib to move out. That doesn't seem to be an overaction to me, but Gene exerting some control over the relationship. Unless you think boyfriends should just start living together immediately upon becoming boyfriends. Sib did after all use deception with Gene and it seems o.k. to me that Gene would make him earn his way back into the condo.
Ok so the childhood backstory clarifies some things, but I'm definitely glad we're moving past that.IMO, the backlash…
Yeah. I actually think the writers are being more disciplined at this point and I’d like to give them some credit for resolving this messy “Sib is revealed to be a long lost friend” plot twist with simple explanations, and then resetting the story by providing us new information. Sib’s scheme was always going to be the weakest part of the story. Like who does that, and why would he do it? Since it comes from the novel, it’s not like they could just leave it out.
Gene may have overreacted, but at least he reacted. But he reacted in a way that put the whole story on pause for a bit. Since their relationship has a longer history than we once thought, that pause is a good time for a flashback to tell us what kind of friends they once were. Much better to show us their memories than have Gene or Sib have a weird dialog about them. And at least he reacted and forced us to wait for a decision to continue, rather than unrealistically ignoring it...because...reasons. If you want to watch a show where this kind of character reveal is handled poorly, go watch Oxygen. Big surprise reveal after big surprise reveal is basically met with silence and doesn’t change anything. Ever.
What would really be poor writing at this point would be to cover up the fact that Sib’s plan is rather weak and not well thought out and completely contrived to give us a surprise ending to act II, would be to misdirect us by adding even more drama. He has a simple explanation. That’s enough. No need to add in childhood traumas, amnesia, repressed memories of sexual abuse or whatnot to explain things. We’re already reevaluating Sib as a liar. We don’t also need to have to reevaluate Gene in ways that would make him potentially unlikeable, with huge trauma dramas to sort through. I think the writing has been more tempered than what we’ve seen in other series.
Not a glowing review, at least they didn’t distract us by having Gene get diarrhoea, and that’s always a risk in Thai BL comedies. If we don’t want to give them credit for keeping it simple, we can at least give them credit for not having a poop scene in four episodes in a row.
Huh? Step away from Mame mind here. Gene was looking after the kid and trying to involve him because he didn't…
Because it was the beginning of their romantic journey together. This is a friends to lovers story now. That's the big reveal of the last two episodes. The "Plot Twist" as it were. We were on a plotline of "This stranger has moved into my house and I think I like him. Oh My God do I like boys?" character arc for Gene. Now we're onto something different that has a different set of challenges and opportunities.
But I didn't feel like the kids were being driven by libidinous urges and sexual motivations nor were they being sexualized in presentation. That would have been squiky. They just liked being around each other...to the point that the father was a bit concerned. LOL. The episode laid out how these two boys were the same as they are now in some ways. But also how they have changed (the big change being that Subsib is now being driven by sexual desire). But that boundary between friendship, romantic love and carnal desire is where a lot of BL Romances play. Gene now has to deal with the fact that someone he once was close to is back in his life after 10 years and wants to be with him, including now having sex with him. Which isn't where they were 10 years in the past. There wasn't anything "tawdry" or "risque" going on 10 years ago, but there is now. Oh boy!
They just failed in directing this for me. They should have shown that the strong affection was one sided, and…
O.K. The over narration was Gene using the event within the Lovely Writer novel he is writing. We need to keep those two separate. Gene is using his experience now to inform lovely writer, but they aren't going to be the same.
Yeah. The actual title of the novel is something like "Gene counts to Ten" or something like that. Ten in Thai…
LOL. Like I can read the novel. I just know the title and had been wondering what that title had to do with the series I was watching. Now I know, too.
Okay, so I was really hoping I would disagree with everyone on this episode and like it, but I definitely did…
Huh? Step away from Mame mind here. Gene was looking after the kid and trying to involve him because he didn't want the kid to be alone. Did you ever have anyone younger next door neighbor in your life who needed to be included in a neighborhood game? Yeah, they didn't show a lot of playing together, because what was important for them to remember was that Gene was always kind to Sib and looked after him (although he was kind of a brat about the dragons). He wasn't grooming him for crying out loud. This isn't a Mame novel. This series is one where you really shouldn't be delving too deeply into your traumatic dark fantasies and accept what you see. The reason they aren't going to go where you want to go into some series where Nubsib was molested by his piano teacher and then fell into the arms of a creeper little Gene is that those revelations would derail the series and then force them off into a different direction and completely change how we feel about the characters for no reason. My guess is that the piano teacher was stiff and probably a punisher in a culture where corporal punishment is not considered to be a sign of poor parenting.
