we should thank lmd for the short episodes 🥲 it will get better by the next episodes. i also believe the drama's pace for the first episodes is just right for the chinese market (which is what's important), they tend to watch dramas 1.25x-2x speed and drop if it's slow.

i've read the novel, too tho already a few years back and also like the changes, there are some stuff that don't quite make sense to me when reading the novel lol of course, it's fictional so i don't bother. these changes actually add excitement and flavor as i don't know how the story will unfold now. i find it already nice enough that they find such good actors and also restore iconic scenes.

finally done! i've watched it with subtitles and i've watched it without one just to focus on their facial expressions. can i just hype how zhou ye is soo good on switching expressions? and her eyes tell stories! i love love love her acting in scent of time and back from the brink but here is on a next level. i was worried that cnetizens will nitpick (always do) as this is highly anticipated but i'm really glad to see praises. the other casts did well, too. tho the face swap is indeed sometimes awkward but also blends well at times. so far, those non-fans (book and actor) who watched the drama quite like it. i hope the coming episodes keep it up.

if i remember correctly, they were all killed. he rufei orchestrated a massacre and eliminated all of he yan's loyal disciples and trusted generals. this might be mentioned specifically in the later episodes.

so is 23,000 hits on tencent good or not? i thought it's good 'cause i read a post that it's one of the fastest dramas to hit that mark + fans in xhs was just aiming for 10,000 in tencent. i do know however that it's rare to hit 30,000 in tencent.
