Let me make a quick point comparison of the two shows.
Chemistry - Winner Start Up
TKEM - Until the end, I felt nothing for the main couple, and there was just so much cringe scenes. I personally thought they didn't cast the right person for TE.
Start Up - The chemistry is also horrible, and it felt like brother and sister kissing most of the time, but at the very least the two leads look like they would fit each other somehow.
Characterization - Winner TKEM
TKEM - As bad as it was, the show actually keeps the characterization of LG and LR quite consistent. Sure they are ridiculous characterizations, but at the least they are consistent from start to finish.
Startup - The characters of almost everyone in the show, even Saha, is so inconsistent, they are often seen doing things inconsistent with how their characters were initially written. This lead to more frustrations from the audiences as they saw the characters doing things out of character.
Plot Holes - Winner Start Up
TKEM - This show had so many plot holes it was ridiculous. There were so many unexplained things. The fact that the show used actual science to explain things, made it worse, as it made no sense. The way the show tried to plug the holes were laughably bad.
Start Up - This show also had a lot of plot holes due to poor writing, but the number of plot holes is not as much as TKEM.
Plot - Winner Start Up
TKEM - The fact that many people found the plot too confusing to enjoy is a bad mark for the drama. And yes, i've seen the claims by some that you needed to be a certain amount of intelligence to enjoy it, but that is not realistic. The plot was confusing, and made zero sense at times. I have dissected all the bad plot points during the live airing, and the are certainly a lot of them.
Start Up - Start up's plot is also terribly bad, but it's not very confusing. In fact, it is instead hyper predictable. But at least, more people can enjoy it.
Dislike for ML - Winner TKEM
Lee Gon - As much as I disliked this character, a lot of people actually liked him and thought he was semi-cool. It had to do with the writing though as the writer wrote LG as a literal god with powers.
Nam Do San - Really unlikeable Main Lead, he wins the unlikeable department over Lee Gon by a landslide
OST - Winner Start Up
As much as some songs were good, OST had more repeatable songs, and a better OST overall. At least in my opinion.
Female Lead - Tie
Both female leads start out as strong and independent, then eventually succumb to be useless and weak Female Leads, so they are both equally lose.
So with a score of 4 - 2 I think Start Up is better :)))
But comparing Start Up to TKEM is like comparing bad and worse, it's a contest for worst show of 2020.
