MDL is going through some weird thing right now. ROY is rated 7.3 now. Nothing is really making sense now. Dramas are swinging .1 - .4 points in either directions. I feel the MDL algo's are easily being abused.
I looked at other dramas, and Hyena, which I heard good things about is sitting at 8.0, even though it reached almost 20% viewership in Korea. There's a bunch of really good dramas that are way better than Start Up that are below 8.1, and some even in the high 7's. I have not seen Love Alarm, but is it really worth 7.8 when Start Up is 8.1? Especially when Love Alarm is getting a second season.
Maybe someday the ratings will actually reflect the show, but today isn't that day.
Who do you like more Dan Ah or Mi Joo?? I like Dan Ah more.
Mi Joo for me, she's much more relatable and her climb will be interesting to see, especially since she chose her profession based on passion/interest as compared to necessity.

The way they are making every male character that is not the ML or SML cartoonishly misogynistic makes me think that a big moral the writer is trying to drive home here is female empowerment.

NJH and Suzy Stans on the other hand has greater motivation, because they don't want blemishes on their favorites resume...
Too late for NJH though, with Bride of Haebek and School Nurse Files being panned, Start Up is just another blemish on his resume. That is already two shows that audience got SLS from his dramas, that's not a good sign LOL!
Oh well... At least Suzy has more highly rated shows, that one blip isn't going to change much. NJH better hope his next work isn't another flop.

Halmoni and HJP portray the healthiest family relationship in the show, so it's no surprise many people related to their relationship. Because it reflects the love we want from our parents, or mirrors what we already have with our parents. And the funniest part is, they are not even related by blood.
After Grandma said to HJP, "You are in your 30's and still not married, you are not happy". It felt like foreshadowing of a better life for HJP.
But fast forward to Ep. 16, and now he is in his late 30's still unmarried, and still single, and we are suppose to believe that he is happy? How stupid does the writer think her audience is?
Seeing this show rated this high, is an affront to the many shows who actually deserve a 8+ rating.
After i watch the 16th episode, i kinda hoped that jipyeong won't be alone and instead, have an happy ending with…

I think MDL should have a grace period in place. No reviews, ratings until your account is one month old.
You can only comment if your are a new account. That would trim some of these Stan accounts. Because the drama will be over by 1 month. Or make it two month grace period to be sure.
The fact that this drama is even in the same place as Jealousy Incarnate is a travesty.

I haven't seen ROY, but 7.3/10 for a show that received 10% maximum viewership ratings in Korea seems a bit suspect. Plus all i've heard about ROY was how the first part was enjoyable, then it snowballed downwards. Same as Start Up. Why the big discrepancy in ratings then. LOL!
FYI 35% of people rated Start Up all 10's now.
I thought at least all my other shows I liked would move up, but it seems it's not all equal. My other shows either didn't move, went up only .1 points or went down. While these overhyped dramas went up by .2-.4 points, and some dramas like ROY went down .3
