Sailing Without a Map is only possible because they have people to cushion their fall. It's actually a ridiculousness…
Nothing about NDS screams calculated risk. If anything, he has showed that he allows emotions to surpass his logic. And for every start up that succeeds, thousands fail.

The thing is his bad decisions, never appear as bad decisions, in fact they've been rewarded several times. When you break a vase, but realize the vase only cost .01 cent, you don't feel bad as compared to when the vase cost $1,000,000. So the chance you'll break another vase is higher with my first example than the latter.

Wait, it's never implied he is major shareholder in SDM company, only that he will be buying shares. And if SDM allows NDS to be major shareholder of Cheongdam, I am literally going to throw a rock at the show. That is textbook hostile takeover, and completely takes away what little power the FL lead has. Please for the love of God, don't let SST be majority shareholder in SDM's company. Plus it's not possible since WIJ is already major shareholder.

Like I said, it's a parellel to Ep. 7. He is implying his way is better. He doesn't actually debate it. He basically says "Ok I hear your point, but i'm still going to do me". Like he verbally acknowledges HJP, but just ignores it anyway intrinsically.

SDM's dad clearly shows in no uncertain ways, people who sail without a map dies. I'm glad you point this out, because it's a literal manifestation of the quote. SDM's dad was a dreamer, and he lost all his money, and if not for Grandma Sandboxing him, he would have failed. He succeeded but all the hits he took along the way, cost him his life. Thanks for reminding me of this scene, as this gives HJP's words even more context.

FYI, just because they sail WITH a map isn't a guarantee you'll hit land or be successful, it just increases your chances. You make it sounds as if HJP's way will not make mistakes and have learning moments. This is like buying a penny stock versus a blue chip stock.

What a useless thing to nit pick .... NDS was their leader for 3 yeara in silicon valley .... so all three are…
No, this is a business with real money and real people involved, not Monopoly.

They all decided Yong San would be CEO, which means he should have all the powers a CEO should have. If your not going to respect the position, why not just let NDS be CEO then? Was making Yong San CEO just lip service? If they actually showed that NDS was discussing with Yong San and convincing him of his decisions, then I would respect that NDS has grown, but all i'm seeing is "Oh I'm NDS, I make all the decisions for all your futures". Basically god mode.

He filled SDM's head with hope and dreams, something she learned the hard way. She believed she was a bigger part of SST than she really was.

Look at this way.

She is CEO, an important position in any industry. A CEO according to HJP should have 61% at least, in fact WIJ owns more than 80% of Injae Company, and it shows.

And yet, her share was 7%, the same as Saha. So a position, which is supposed to have power in it, is hamstrung by the inherent weakness of the share position. And YET, NDS kept telling her, "my share are yours" making her believe she actually had more weight and importance to SST than she actually did.

But here comes Alex like a truth bomb, blowing all those hope and dreams away. And since NDS filled her head with so much dreamer fluff, the explosion, the shockwaves from the truth bomb reverberated and absolutely destroyed SDM.

I must've missed this where she's being looked down on for being a dropout? Ppl are questioning her decisions…
I would like to add that SDM is only CEO in WIJ sister company due to nepotism.

Who is annoyed that Yong San was made CEO, but it seems all the decision making is done by NDS?

Why bother making Yong San CEO then? To show that NDS has grown? If anything it's more of the same, giving someone a fake title, and false power, same to what he did to SDM.

Hopefully Alex comes back in Ep. 15, tells NDS he has breached his contract all haul all of them back to SF.

Asking people to find good things about NDS is like asking people to justify the goodness in King Jeoffrey. Just saying...

NDS represents the guy/girl you know in real life, who keeps messing up, but keeps getting rewarded for it.

While we represents HJP where we try our best to do everything by the book, but one misstep, and we lose it all...

Hopefully in ep. 15 we don't see more of useless CEO's SDM and Yong San.

Like I get NDS is main lead and we got to show him being awesome, but in corporate, there is a pecking order, and the CEO is usually at the top.

But in Start Up, I just keep seeing CEO's being at the bottom, garnering little respect, and with no actual power. And latest preview once again reinforces this notion.

Grow a spine SDM, geez!

A lot of ppl are misinterpreting the “sail off without a map” quote!I really thought that the conversation…
Sailing Without a Map is only possible because they have people to cushion their fall. It's actually a ridiculousness statement.

You know, who actually sailed without a map? HJP did. If not for Grandma, he would have died. And so he knows firsthand the dangers of doing so. He lost his relationship with Grandma, and grew up lonely.

While NDS sailed without a map on a state of the art Yacht. HJP sailed without a map with only the cardboard virtual winnings he has as his life raft.

It's like a man who is talking so much trash, and how amazing and good he is, but he has his father's money to back him up instead if he fails. In this case, not only is the company still based in Sandbox, where the liability will be cushioned, but WIJ, the majority shareholder will actually take the brunt of the damage should this fail and not SDM and NDS.

NDS has been shown as a character who has not really been punished for his poor decisions. All his poor decisions have been rewarded in some way. So I'm not surprised that he has this type of mentality. HJP on the other hand, has experienced harshness, toughness, and failure several times. Plus he is also a lot more experienced business wise.

So as I've said before, if this is their personal money, then go ahead, sail wherever, but when your playing with WIJ and Investor's money, you owe it to to them to be more conservative. And this selfishness of NDS of thinking, well i'm competent, so it won't fail is facetious. Once again, he is showing his immaturity, which is weird since he worked at 2STO. You'd think he would know by now that working in a team means you have to actually consider how other people will be affected.

The elevator scene is no different than HJP and NDS scene in Ep. 7. There is enough parallels in these two conversation.

It's another my way will be better than your way conversation from NDS. Contrast this with HJP and Yong San conversation, and you will see the difference of maturity between Yong San and NDS.

The thing is, SST is now playing with larger stakes, and their failure will hurt more people, WIJ for example, lest we forget WIJ is major shareholder of Cheongdam company. But of course, this is glossed over because duh SDM and NDS scene.

Actually, NDS is simply the CTO, it's not his call. And as pragmatic as WIJ is, I can't imagine she would love the idea of Sailing Without a Map. To be frank WIJ should not have allowed SDM to create that farce of a corporate video.

I hope they don't dumb down the character of WIJ to make dodal seem more awesome.

Also some of u here need to stop looking down on seo dalmi for being a college drop out. yes college NOT Highschool,…
Personally, I am not in favor of romanticizing being a college drop out.

When young people talk about dropping out from school, they ALMOST ALWAYS refer to people like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and etc... to justify their decision.

BUT in reality, especially in this climate, a college degree is extremely important, and the fact of the matter most people, regardless of how diligent or inherently smart they are, do not get the chance to succeed.

I remember in the past 10 years, there were a few high profile cases of people who lied on their resume about their education and were shamefully fired.

I think i'll finally be glad when I DON'T have to hear these words ever again. These phrases have been way overused, time to retire them...

"To sail without a map"

"Because you have big hands"

"Dosan-ahhh"

"Why do you like me"

The baseball he gets back, so yeah...

visiting card?

So Grandma owns the software? I'm taking about items that is made, given for that person, not items that just so happen to benefit someone but is actually sold by 2STO and NDS profited of it.

Ahh yeah, hugs and kisses, yummy!
