This was okay. I like that the show tried not to follow an expected path, and just when I predicted that the characters would say or do something, they did something completely different. It did get a little boring at times but not enough to make me drop it. The show is good enough to recommend as a filler if you want to watch a light story about a dysfunctional family that somehow made it work. I like CMH's puppy face and JJH's sexy ajhussi vibe. KJS was fine, carried her own but SNE could have been better.
This was not bad. I liked it, but I did not love it because of the FL and SML. The more the FL discovered, the dumber, narrower-minded, and naive she became. I became increasingly frustrated with her as the show went on. I really wanted to smack her many times especially closer towards the end. She had the extra powers, yet she was too self-absorbed, easily biased, and blindly infatuated - her character development did not progress well, and the same thing with the SML. He was too uncooperative and deliberately suspicious. His behavior was quite absurd and almost stupidly stubborn. That was a flaw of the show in trying to create all these red herrings to keep the viewers from guessing who the real killer was.
Another negative was too many cliffhangers when there was almost a reveal and then not...It got a bit draggy and made me think this could have been a 12-episode drama.
Lee Min Ki saved the show for me. Although his character was not very personable, his acting was good and consistent.
I also enjoyed the plot and the comedic storyline. It was also a good decision to have very little romance between the leads during the investigation, and the focus was on solving the murder cases. The partnership and the dynamics between them worked, but the romance between them did not quite work for me - it was barely there, and then there was. That said, I did like the chemistry between them. I would like to see the two in another show, like a proper rom-com. The romance between the older couple was great, hilarious, and heartwarming.
The ending was also well-done and the reason why I rated it higher in the end. It left me with a positive feeling. The OST was also a fun selection.
Overall, I would recommend this show. It was still worth watching as long as you can overlook the uninteresting SML character and FL's somewhat idiotic behavior.
Is there any bromance or brotherly bond? Also is it strong or weak?
Right, I didn't see strong brotherly bond where the other male characters cared a lot about each other. The ML worked well with a couple of them, but I don't remember any brotherly solid bond.
Definitely not even bordering on BL :) where the scenes might make my heart flutter seeing the male character interact.
Watched up to Ep 27 - finally the whole world knows about that Mo guy...I mean...it was so obvious to us viewers but we had to watch along as the characters finally caught up. The ending for that fellow was pretty lame though...
I am enjoying this show but the villains are disappointing me.
I think the ultimate villain is the Xian prince, He's too suspiciously docile whereas Princess Ying is too obviously bitchy.
