Yes the fact that the FL was unconventional was a nice twist . I think the FL redeemed herself in her own way…
Agree - Shu Yi did redeem herself but I wished she had said thank you more...everytime Shi Yan did something sweet for her, it's almost like she expected it...Girl needs to be more appreciative! The reveal at the end about when he first met her was just so sweet!
"Intuitive chemistry" - well said indeed and so true - it was what kept most of us going with this show!
Bai Lu looks gorgeous in everything and every show! Even when she was a plain police officer in Ordinary Greatness, she was not plain at all. You're right, red and black totally works for her but I love her in pale pastel colors too.
I am not done yet and not even sure which episode I am on as I have to back up the episodes on viki to see at…
lol, 2 AM??? I hope that you are able to catch up on your sleep soon! Same here - I like Dylan's portrayal of Shi Yan - his eyebrows!!! You will love the progression of the other couples, especially the niece and Professor - they are so dorky cute!
Hot as it may be, I don't like the way the kiss happened but I love the way JXN took charge of the situation and XW, and started bossing XW around after that! Haha, his bodyguards' reactions...
Lu Xian, thank you for intervening! XW should gift you all his precious Qin instruments!

1) Ning'er's father continues to get my vote for Father of the Year - so protective and understanding! I appreciate the way he kept trying to smooth things over between his wife and JXN. Plus His reactions about XW were funny! 2) The show really makes it easy for us to dislike the bad guys. First the Xue family, then the obnoxious Da Yue prince, even the feral cats looked villainous! 3) I guess the show is drawing to an end, so reconciliations are in order...finally, JXN shared her feelings, and the mother responded in kind...showing some true motherly care 4) The Empress Dowager gets more detestable each episode - I understand why she did it but the way she manipulated little Xue Ding Fei into sacrificing himself...
Poor Bailu, she had to deal with an overbearing sarcastic CEO in Only For Love, and here she has to deal with a domineering sarcastic Junior Perceptor...
I didn't know there are bonus clips! I am not even to 30 yet.
Oh dear...then you still have to deal with some frustrations. Hang in there though, ep 31 will be the positive turning point! Just make sure you catch the ep 36.5, the bonus mini-episode!
Eps 31 - 36 plus the bonus clip of 36.5 were satisfying and romantic. There were lots of kisses and skinship; Bailu and Dylan did not disappoint in that aspect 😍
OK, I may be biased here with my rating since I love the chemistry between Bailu and Dylan, and their visuals. I will gladly watch them stare at each other with background music playing at any time...lol. Also, the journey to love for Shu Yue and Yu Yao added a lot of good flavor to the show.
Eps 31 - 36 plus the bonus clip of 36.5 made me happy, and honestly, the 4-5 previous episodes of prolonged misunderstandings/miscommunication did not bother me that much. I watched with the full expectation and anticipation that it would be about the "domineering CEO trope," and Dylan did so well with that character. Love how overbearing and arrogant Shi Yan was even when he showed love and affection to the FL.
Luckily, the show did not make the FL character naive, overly enthusiastic, bubbly, and kind of dumb like the usual ones in such CEO shows. I did have a love-hate feeling for Bailu's FL character, though. Shu Yi was smart, sharp, and sassy in her professional life but totally clueless about her personal life. It didn't help that she kept listening to her friend, Shan Shan, who was the worst relationship guru ever! Still, most of the FL's actions and thought processes were relatable and quite realistic. Many of us often back away and assume the worst immediately, but unfortunately, in her case, the show dragged on too long for most viewers. Also, the show did not make the FL grovel enough, the ML should have gotten many more apologies and more appreciation from the FL.
The second couple's path to their relationship was so fun to watch, and honestly, the ML's niece, Shi Yue, was the MVP. She was the youngest, but her approach and pursuit of her man were well done, and she was often the catalyst that helped Shi Yan and Shu Yi move forward with their relationship. Shen Yu Jie shone as Shi Yue, and she was gorgeous throughout the show. Miles Wei was awesome as the dorky professor who ultimately could not resist the lovely Shi Yue.
We could have done away with the third couple - their push-pull dynamic became annoying to watch, and it was the same friend of the FL that was just so wishy-washy. I think that the female character was not written well. There's only so much Jiang Pei Yao could do, and she looked beautiful playing this disastrous character, which I did not like much throughout the show.
Love the outfits in this show - especially the leads and Shu Yue. Very branded, though, so I can only dream - haha!
Overall, I did enjoy this drama, and I had fun reading and commenting along with others. There was a lot of venting and frustration, but somehow, many of us continued on. I was addicted because of the cast and the fact that I do actually like the domineering CEO trope when it is done with a twist.
Consort Xian is just a concubine. It's freaking ridiculous she gets to act like she is the empress.
Exactly, even if the emperor was trying to give the Xue family some face by marrying her, it r didn’t mean that she gets total control over the inner harem. I’m surprised the Empress Dowager has not done anything yet.
