It's such a cute and fluff series!!!

If you are a fan of a cliche story with a small twist, this series for you. There are so many cliches like enemies to lovers, poor girl and rich boy, and childhood friends, but the story is interesting so you cannot be bored. There are two main stories in this series, a failed first love and a first love that is just starting to blossom. It is such an interesting story about first love, what would happen if you will fight or did not fight your first love despite the odds.

The chemistry between the two leads is undeniably very strong. Aside from their chemistry, despite being a teenager they were put emotion in every scene that they have. The supporting characters were also great, the circus gang. It is nice that they treat each other like a family and you will definitely feel them, which is one of the values of the Filipino. They are funny and very supportive to the main leads.

The musical score was also great, you will definitely feel the magic once the music starts playing.

What I hate, just like every Filipino series, was the series was drag too long. But despite this, it is still better than other Filipino series. Overall, I love it.

A fluffy one movie

As I watched this during a pandemic, I missed going to school and wear school uniform. I like this movie because I can relate since I also went to a public high school. A classroom without enough chairs, pushing and pulling people just to get inside a jeepney and a budget-friendly meal in a street. I experience all of this.

I don't like that aside from it being full of cliche, the story is in teleserye format. Aside from the story of the main couple, there is their parent's story and the story of the second female lead. The other story was not properly told and I feel that the ending was fast-paced.

Well, if you like a fluffy movie, I think you might consider this.

A Movie Full of Jokes that needed a Filipino Context

I can't believe that the humor is still there even though it was released a long time ago. From start to end, it doesn't distant to comedy. When there is a scene that you thought will be a tearjerker, in the middle, the mother will start to say or do something funny so the tears from the eyes will stop.

My favorites are when they re-enact a scene from past movies that are heavy drama in the genre like Anak, Tanging Yaman, and Bata, Bata... Pa'no Ka Ginawa?. What funny is that the original actors who say the famous line is also in this movie so it added to the humor. I like that each of her children is very unique. A responsible son, artistic daughter, a smart son, a girlish daughter, a smart daughter, a gay son, a religious son, a boyish daughter, a son with a disability, etc.

The main song used in this movie is also funny. I definitely rewatch it. Since most jokes in this movie needed context, it isn't recommended for people who are starting only to watch Filipino movies.

A big hugs to all parents out there!

I just recently watched it on Youtube because I was only 1 year old when it was released. Even though it is a Star Cinema production, I expected it to be more dramatic than light drama. But it is nice to found out that it has comedy which is like Star Cinema movies today.

Even though it is a light drama, I cried several times while watching it. Even though it is focused on the mother and the oldest daughter, her other two children were still given a heart-touching scene. Each child has a separate scene with their mother that I cried. On a technical aspect, I didn't like the voice-over in the movie. It felt redundant because aside from it is seen in the scene there was a voice-over narrating what happens.

Watching it made me realized how it is difficult to be a parent. Being a parent doesn't end by giving their financial needs, emotional support is also important for the children.

A GREAT MOVIE

If you want a movie that is definitely moved away from the formulated one, this is the movie you're looking for. The story is definitely new and a nice story to tell. It tells how loneliness affects a person mentally, physically, and emotionally. Also, the loneliness of getting old. It shows how being alone will change a person.

The screen ratio is nice which makes the cinematography really great. What I really love in this movie is the color grading. It is really pleasing to eyes. Screen ratio + Cinematography + Color grading = ❤️

It makes me realized that make every relationship because when you get old, it will be hard to create a new relationship.

My Feel-Good Mini-Series

My first issue when I saw this is their incest-like story. Well, I liked that they end it just on the first episode because of some circumstance. And I loved how they have a similar story with the Korean movie Parasite but it is a romatic-comedy genre, not suspense or thriller.

I had fun watching it. The chemistry of the leads is there. It is now my favorite romance mini-series from the Philippines. The story is nice. My only issue is it only has six episodes. It is very short that they solve all the problems in one last episode. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it.

A Good Chinese University Youth Drama

The series follows the story of four young women who meet in their first year of university and form a close friendship. They learn to be themselves and support each other through their ups and downs.

Among the four women, Shen Yue's character Xia Langlang is my favorite because she is so relatable and likable. She is a bit clumsy and awkward, but she is also kind, funny, and determined. Shen Yue does a great job of bringing Xia Langlang to life, and she makes her a character that viewers can root for.

I also love the chemistry between Zhou Yu and Fan Xiaoyu. The two actors have great chemistry, and their scenes together are some of the most enjoyable in the series. The accurate depiction of college life is another reason to watch "Be Yourself". The series does a great job of capturing the ups and downs of college life, from the excitement of making new friends to the challenges of studying and balancing work and relationships.

I liked that the series showed the characters going through different challenges, both personal and professional. This made the characters more relatable and realistic. I also appreciated that the series didn't shy away from tackling some serious issues, such as bullying and mental health. If you are looking for a drama that will remind you of your own college days, then "Be Yourself" is the perfect choice. I also really like the ending which a season 2 might ruin the series for me.

Overall, "Be Yourself" is a heartwarming and inspiring drama that is sure to leave a lasting impression. It is a reminder that it is okay to be different and that you should never give up on your dreams. I would definitely recommend this drama to anyone who is looking for a feel-good drama with a positive message.

If you loved any adaptations of Hana Yori Dango, YOU'LL DEFINITELY LOVE IT!

One of the strengths of Meteor Garden 2018 is the chemistry between Shen Yue and Dylan Wang. The two actors have a natural rapport, and their onscreen interactions are believable and heartwarming. They bring a lot of energy and charisma to their roles, and they make the audience root for their relationship.

Another highlight of the series is the official soundtrack. The songs are catchy and romantic, and they perfectly capture the emotions of the story. The LSS (Last Song Syndrome) official soundtrack is a must-listen for fans of the series. "For You" is the main theme song of the series, and it's a beautiful and haunting melody. "Liu Xing Yu" is a sweet and romantic song that perfectly captures the early stages of love. "Anyone of Us (Stupid Mistake)" is a catchy and upbeat song that will get stuck in your head.

Overall, Meteor Garden 2018 is a fun and heartwarming series with a great cast and soundtrack. If you're a fan of the original manga or the Japanese drama adaptation, you'll definitely enjoy this version.

I would definitely recommend Meteor Garden 2018 to fans of the original manga or the Japanese drama adaptation. It's a fun and heartwarming series with a great cast and soundtrack. I also think that viewers who are new to the story will enjoy it, as long as they don't mind the predictable plot and slow pacing.

It's Boyette and not Boyet

It's a story of a feminine gay accepted by their family but pretends to be straight at school because of a homophobic best friend. It's not a BL story. It's the story and adventure of Boyette in college. It's not solely focused on the gay hardship in society but also family importance, and making and fulfilling a dream. I watched it without expectation so I was really surprised by the story.

It is mainly comedy and not drama and romance, so it will not cater to many viewers. The whole movie was full of slapstick comedy, they make exaggerated movements. Sometimes the comedic acts are funny but sometimes they are not. Also, sometimes it is funny because it is really not a funny joke. I just laughed and sometimes cried while watching the whole movie.

If you just want to laugh, I think you can try this movie

A Fairytale-like Story

I can't believe that I enjoyed this movie so much. It is a light romantic comedy movie that I just needed. It feels that I watched a fairytale about a princess. But in this movie, it is just a normal teenager that wants to join a beauty contest. It is an adaptation of the famous Cinderella story but everything is in the Philippine context.

I like how they integrate the famous fairy-tale of Liliw, the setting of the story, to the whole movie which added to its fairytale feels. On the leads, I like the chemistry of Francine Diaz and Kyle Echarri which in the first place why I watched this movie.

I will definitely rewatch this movie.

A NOSTALGIC MOVIE FOR THE 90'S KIDS

If you spent your adulthood during the '90s, then this movie is for you. You will get nostalgia in every scene, from the snacks that you always buy in a convenience store to the popular video games that you always play, to the technology available like telephone and television. And if you are born later than the '90s like me, you will also enjoy the movie.

The set design and costume are on point. It really feels like I am in that time. For the story, it doesn't cater to the new story but if you just want a feel-good movie, then this is it. The gender roles are also part of the movie which I understand because it is prevalent during that time. They show how the boys and girls were treated differently at that time.

Despite the difference in time of our adulthood, there are things that we share the same experiences. So it is definitely that you will relate. Their friendship which I relate to is awesome.

A GOOD FILIPINO HORROR MOVIE

It's been ages since I watched a good Filipino horror movie. This movie quenches my thirst for a good horror movie made by Filipinos. It's horror, thriller, and also psychological. All the time I am watching it, my heart didn't stop beating fast. There is only a little scene that you can relax, but almost all scenes are a thriller.

The production designs are well-made. The place added thrill to the scenes. I just feel like some scenes will be scarier if it is CGI, but on the other hand, it is still scary. The cinematography was also good because of the setting and the well-made production design.

If you want a good horror movie made by Filipinos, then this movie is what you're looking for.

A MUST WATCH PREQUEL

If I will compare this to its sequel, Four Sisters and a Wedding, I'd say that it does not exceed it. Its story have many places that take place for a 2-hour movie, it has a scene in a two different university, a high school, a house, a studio, and a coffee shop. When they move from different places, I somewhat feel dizzy. But for a prequel, its story is really good. It makes a nice background story between the four sisters. Although I complain about the different places, it somewhat answers why the four sisters have different personalities. It makes you understand why their attitude in life is like that in its sequel movie. Like in the first movie, which is its sequel, it is a feel-good movie with a twist of romance.

The acting is the greatest aspect of this movie. The young counterpart of the sisters definitely brings back the characters that I love in the first movie. You can see that they really study the characters that they will act as. They got every nuance that the characters have.

The music was not that iconic as the first movie have. I don't remember when they use its OST aside from the end credits.

If the first movie focus on family, this movie focus on the family with the teenage romance of every sister. I must say that if you loved the first movie, you will definitely love this too.

It is a rollercoaster of emotion

I started to watch this series because from the poster, it feels like it is just a happy, youthful, comedy series. Well, it is not what I expected. One moment you are laughing, the next moment you are afraid or nervous. Or you are crying now, then the next scenes will make you feel a romantic excitement. It is really a rollercoaster of emotion while watching this series.

Every episode tells about different social issues happening in the Philippines. Though the main characters are the same and the series follows their story, I prefer saying it is an anthology series. Also, every character represents different people in society. How they interact with each other and other people is a microscopic view of the interaction of different social classes.

A Different High School Romance

The story was great. Watching this series makes me miss high school, the school, teachers, and especially my friends. The series was able to tell the stories at two different times without spoiling what happened in the past. The sudden time jump between scenes was great that makes you have the urge to know what will happen and what had happened. It will also teach you real-life lessons.

Both the young and old Shantal actresses were great. She and her group of friends were also great. You will feel the romance between Shantal and Daniel, despite being a student and teacher. You will feel the young Shantal is really deeply in love with her teacher. While the romance between Shantal and Marius was also great, to be honest, I feel more chemistry between them and I end up rooting for Marius.

What I love in this series is the twist at the end. I was able to finish the series within just one day. If you want a series that can binge-watch within just one day, then this series is definitely for you.
